“Don't be fooled by the hateful reviews - Denise (the owner) is a very very sweet old woman that sometimes simply lacks some social awareness. once you get talking to her she gives you awesome tips (like how to avoid creeps and keep your bag safe from thiefs). I've spent hours in this store and always find something cute and nice i've never seen before.”

“A giant honking used book store in the warehouse district with every category of book you can think of stacked on old shelves that pack the room. The prices are cheap too, and I picked up a reading list in history for $3.50 a title, and these were hooks that might have sold for $18 online. It has that used book store smell too, for those who delight in it.”

“Normally, I’m not one to shop for trinkets a lot, but the moment that I came across this beautiful Japanese drauma doll at The Cusp of Extinction, I felt that I had to get it.
Partly because I’m trying to get back my confidence in making art (writing especially, which was what kept me in spirits when I couldn’t find any acting gigs).
Partly because I’ll be teaming up with a calligrapher soon on hosting origami and calligraphy nights in Rockville.
Partly because I know that at least from my point of view, such trinkets usually aren’t brought back to the United States. It might be because America has a weird relationship with art.
I’m so glad that I came across Tim Green and his establishment. Tim has a wide range of knowledge in just about anything that you can throw at him. He also has good hospitality skills, which I can appreciate having lived in Memphis from 2011 to 2023. I miss sellers who know how to keep you in a store for hours, haha. I wouldn’t have taken my chances on the drauma brush if it wasn’t for Tim. 谢谢！ありがとう！
If the shop was a little bigger, then I wouldn’t mind hosting origami classes and have tea and snacks available. Otherwise, I could do with having Tim as good company. It helps that he knows how to price his items fairly too.
By the way, he really appreciates having customers bring in cash so if you can, make your purchases that way.
If ever my boyfriend, Fernando, wishes to tag along, then I would be more than happy to have him pay The Cusp of Extinction a visit.

“Incredibly unique shop. The owner is super kind, and I promise you’ll find some of the most unique items ever. There’s a wide array of sculptures, statues, and masks from all over Africa. They offer everything from baskets, picture, jewelry, pottery, and even rugs. I could have spent hours there and there would still be more to look at. There’s items (and cats!) everywhere, and that’s honestly just part of the charm.
Heads up: because there are cats wandering the shop, if you’re allergic, please take precautions. Also, the shop only accepts payment via services like Zelle, so just be aware of that. Lastly, you have got to check out the second floor.
Overall, I can’t recommend visiting enough, the owner is incredibly kind and has been there for 37 years. Please support your local businesses!”

“I love Cheeky's! Heather has done a really great job at finding unique, useful mid-century housewares and furniture at reasonable prices. Her stock is always changing. Today I bought a set of campaign coupe glasses, a splayed fruit bowl, and lovely pearl inlayed ceramic coasters. In the same area is Suffragette City Vintage wears and jewelry. I bought graduated rose quartz drop earning and also many vintage pieces in the past. You also cannot miss My Dead Aunts' Books! I can spend hours in this place! Thankfully Vigilante and Franklin's are nearby!”
