TJ and I just wanted to take a moment to acknowledge how incredible both Helena and Kathleen have been with our son. As you know our lives have been totally flipped upside down with this insurance claim and hotel life. Being at school is like a second home for our so. Over the summer he had so much anxiety with the changes of being at school and away from us. Helena and Kathleen suggested we keep him a kitten until December while he got his footing. Since they were familiar faces and everything in his home life would be unfamiliar it seemed like the logical choice going into the school year and it turned out to be the best choice we’ve made.

He is thriving with them. He loves his friends his has made, he sings his ABCs, he counts to 10, he tells us all about his day and loves looking at all of his pictures from the day when he gets home. From being scared to walk into the building and throwing up every day from anxiety to asking to see his teachers and friends when we are at home. We couldn’t have asked for better teachers and we really felt it in our hearts to let you and Michael know just how incredible these two women are. Teachers are some of the most undervalued people and we are sure to a lot of families you guys are just a place to just drop off their kids while they are working but for us we wanted a place where our son could feel like it was his second home. Helena and Kathleen have taken such care and time with him and worked with him at his pace to build trust. The other day I was moved to tears when I got a video of him painting by himself for the first time. There has been a lot of darknesses lately but these two ladies have helped give us so much light and we are truly grateful. We are so incredibly sad that his time as a kitten is winding down but we will be forever grateful to them for giving him a strong springboard into his education. These things really do matter.

Thank you so much Goddard and the Kittens class for allowing our sweet boy the space to grow and feel safe and for giving us his parents the comfort knowing that he is ok, and that with love and guidance at Goddard the sky is the limit. Our hearts are full. At a time when so much seems so unsure this just seems so right. We are forever grateful, thank you for this. These teachers should be celebrated to the max. They are the reason we stayed at Goddard!!!”

“Our daughter has been attending Goddard School of Rockville since she was 6 months and it was the best decision we ever made! She has thrived during her time there and that is thanks to the incredible community at the school, the excellent teachers and staff, and the diverse curriculum that they offer. And the admin/leadership team is incredible.

Everyone who works at the school is extremely nice and you can tell that they genuinely care about the kids and their development. Our daughter has learned so many new things since being at school and she loves all of the fun activities they get to do each day! Almost everyone who works here knows our daughter by name, even if they don't spend much (if any) time with her. I think that is a credit to the wonderful community they have built here and the great people that work here.

The school does an incredible job of providing daily and weekly updates about the kids lesson plans, activities, school events and news, etc. I could not be happier with the level of care and communication that the school provides. And I feel 100% confident about the health and safety of my child while she is at school which as a parent is invaluable.

As an added bonus the school offers a ton of additional benefits (some free and others for additional charge) including block parties, catered snacks and lunches, and weekend childcare once a month.

“Last year, around this time, I was searching for a private school for my kid and reading a lot of reviews and visiting informal chats. Most parents who are researching private schools are probably strongly considering strength of the curriculum and costs. Those are important, but I really wanted to know about the personalities of the children and staff. We may assume that people affiliated with a religious background are kind and warm, but you likely know from life experience that this isn’t always the case. I heard from a few people who told me that their children/grandchildren/spouses were subjected to bullying, racism, and harsh judgments at their religion-affiliated private schools, and I read some reviews where some parents would write about how their kids were subjected to mistreatment, but the administrators did not care and did not address those issues, despite the high costs to attend these schools.Enter Christ Episcopal School. As my kid neared middle school, I could see that she might struggle with learning, in 7 different classes, and get lost in the crowd. She might have difficulty adapting to a large crowd of “real” kids who might speak to her roughly and she might not know how to respond. (Her brother went to this middle school, and has more street sense, but it wasn’t a great experience for him.) When I went to the CES Open House, I asked the head of school about whether there were conflicts in the middle school aged kids, and she responded so honestly, that it happens as you would expect among middle schoolers, but because the classes are so small, they are able to tamp down on conflicts before they escalate. I appreciated that candor, and I can confirm, it is true! The teachers and administrators get to know your children’s personalities and circumstances, and they will do their best to ensure that everyone is developing into a good citizen, feels supported in their learning, and is generally happy. And if you express concern about an issue your child is facing, the staff will address it, persistently if needed!All of this positivity may sound fake, but this really is a great little school. I want to go on and on, but I don’t want to lose your attention and take up further space. As you research school for your kid, I seriously hope you will consider CES … as all of these other parents have said, it is truly a hidden gem and I wish I would have learned about it when my older one was entering middle school.”

“I greatly appreciate the staff at Academy at Galway. I was nervous about my free spirited, yet shy toddler going to pre-k after always being home with family and having one on one attention. She can be emotional and quiet. However the decision to send her was not that hard because I have had experience with Academy at Galway many years ago when my now 16 year old daughter attended. I can say I am extremely grateful and happy I made the decision to send my daughter. Just like many years ago the staff there are amazing. The nervousness I felt went away quickly. The director was extremely understanding with how nervous I was and answered all of my emails and questions. The staff kept me updated especially her first few weeks. They’re attentive. They didn’t get upset that she was more emotional and scared in the beginning. They were patient with her and as a mother that’s all I could ask for. Knowing my child is being well cared for when I am not around. My daughter comes home everyday and is excited to tell me about her day. She may have days where she’s upset that things didn’t go her way but she is learning about being kind, sharing, boundaries. All of the things she needs to be successful as she moves to kindergarten. On weekends she counts down the days until it “almost a school day!” The teachers have been helpful with my concerns and they communicate often. My shy little girl is more outgoing and now super talkative.”

“We are so lucky and grateful to have found ERCDC. Our two kids have been very happy there from day 1. The staff and teachers are all loving and truly care about each and every child. The centre has a nurturing and homely feel that makes it stand out from other bigger, corporate-like institutions. Communication with the teachers and management team is also very good and we get lots of updates and photos everyday. It will be hard to leave!”

“DeeDee's was great for the two years we were with them (2022 to 2024). We started with our oldest starting Kindergarten and our youngest starting as an older 3yr old. For the oldest, DeeDees did an amazing job of making sure she got to school and was picked up, even when she was the only student going to her school. This carried through all 2 years. She loved the teachers and made good friends we were sorry to have leave (call-out to Miss M during the summer kids club). Our youngest loved being in the 3s room and made the transition into the 4s doing a great job making new friends. I want to call out Miss C and J from the 3s room for everything they did even when both kids were only there at morning drop off. Miss S, M, and A from the 4s (I know I am missing a few I apologize here), you know the kid is happy when he wants to hug the teachers every morning when he sees them. I also want to call out Miss C, the director, who ran a solid ship, covering when teachers left and always being responsive to the parents. Overall, the teachers cared about the kids, they made sure the kids were given an environment to grow while also limiting their craziness, and we always felt comfortable dropping them off every morning.”

“My daughter has been at this daycare for a little over a year. As a a teacher and educator myself, I am very happy with the care and education my daughter is receiving at Little Miracles. We are so lucky to have found Ms. Carla. As a new mom and coming out of the pandemic, I was more than anxious to send my little one to a daycare. Little Miracles has been wonderful for my daughter and for our family.When we were first looking for daycare centers, we were struggling to find a center that we could afford and one that had room. Within an hour of contacting Ms. Carla that first summer, we were able to hear back from her and schedule an appointment to see the facility. At the time, we needed to tour while there were no kids there (of course due to the pandemic), but we were so thrilled by how our daughter took to Ms. Carla.When our daughter started, Ms. Carla assured us that our little one was happy and cared for by sending picture updates and all the fun little crafts home. She was active, learning, and playing. Our little pandemic baby was so fulfilled.The curriculum is rigorous and keeps our little one always coming home with new things she has learned. For a day care, the learning is age appropriate and challenging. Along with all the crafts, ABCs, counting, now days of the week and months have been taught to my daughter (she astounds me every week by the new things she is learning) - Ms. Carla is the one who potty trained my baby and helped us follow the routine at home. Without her, I have no idea how I would have done it. Seriously, she knows kids and she is the professional.Ms. Carla has been steadfast with her Covid protocols and this has helped her daycare stay safe and clean for all kids. The center is much smaller than other comparable centers which is best for our daughter. Ms. Carla and her team is attentive, caring, and treats all kids like her own.As a family, we deeply appreciate her service, her love towards our little butterfly, and her guidance and grace for us as new parents to support us in this journey together.”

His teachers are wonderful, the classes are great (weekly Chinese class, music class, and lots of time to play and explore). The teachers clearly love their students and are passionate about their work. The preschool also has a huge outdoor playground for the kids. Can't say enough good things!”

“It's hard to put into words how much this school has meant to our family over the past 10+ years. Our older son attended for over 4 years (including through the uncertainty of COVID), and our younger son is now finishing his third and final year. This school has been such a special part of our children's early childhood, and we feel incredibly lucky to have found it.

The teachers and staff are truly amazing. They love each child as an individual and our boys were always encouraged to be curious, independent, and confident, while still feeling supported every step of the way. We've watched them grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. The Montessori mixed-age environment was especially wonderful for helping build confidence, responsibility, patience, and empathy.

One thing we've always appreciated is how dedicated the teachers and staff are. There has been very little turnover during all of our years here, which says so much about the school and the community they've built. Many of the teachers have been such an important part of our children's lives, and we will genuinely miss them. The management is also incredibly organized and thoughtful, which makes a huge difference as a parent -- communication is clear, things run smoothly, and you can tell there is so much care behind everything they do.

Most importantly, our children were truly happy here. They felt safe, loved, and excited to go to school every day. As our youngest gets ready to move on, we're feeling emotional knowing this chapter is ending. I'm not sure we could've picked a more nurturing and amazing environment for him to thrive in than ECC.The small class sizes drew us in, the awesome and caring staff moved us with how much they contributed to our son's development. He really blossomed socially, loved going to class, and was well prepared for kindergarten thanks to their play-based learning and emphasis on the whole child. The amount of care his teachers demonstrated towards him is really something we'll treasure forever, and the school director and support staff were also very friendly as well as communicative & organized.The grounds (on but not affiliated with the Rockville Unitarian church) were really nice. The classrooms themselves are quite small, but no problem for the small groups, filled with natural light, and well laid out for imaginative play and age-appropriate learning. They do a nice amount of school-community events for being so small; my son recently enjoyed a picnic even as an alumni recently :)Thank you ECC!”

“I have two kids in LGMS and they have been attending the school for the last year and a half. The teachers are so kind and patient. They adapt the curriculum to meet kids where they are at and also foster independence. They develop a sense of community within the school. The staff are very responsive and truly care about the kids. They’ve gone above and beyond to make sure our kids are comfortable and thriving. My kids love the Chinese skills they learn at LGMS and the academic rigor is awesome. I recommend the school to anyone looking for Montessori, and you get the added bonus of language immersion!”
