“Had a great time volunteering with my co-workers and the many others that were there. My group worked on sizing. Sorting kids clothes by size, type, and filtering out those that were damaged, too large, not sensitive to children's particular home situations, etc. Kevin was our host. He was fun, energetic, helpful, positive, and inspiring. It does get hot in there, so bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. Signed up with my family for another volunteer opportunity. Looking forward to it! Hopefully I will have the opportunity to try another station but wouldn't be bummed if we get sizing again. Parking in front of building, street side, and other lots in the area. Do not park in the lot next door. They will ask you to move your vehicle. Thanks Cradles to Crayons for the opportunity to give just two hours of our time to your important mission. Also, we were informed that they are in need of boys and gender neutral clothing. Size newborn to 18/20. Board books too. I will bring more bags to donate with us next time we are in the area.”

“The ABGC is a safe, fun, great place for kids to grow up alongside wonderful role models , wonderful staff, and so many of whom have been involved for many years. I have seen a major improvement in my kids social and emotional health from their experiences and relationships, and relationship building skills being discovered and built at the boys n girls club. They also are healthier from the regular swimming, exercising, and excitement of being with friends after school. They learn to cook, and learn all types of different things there. Anytime I walked around inside it was very clean considering all the traffic, they definitely have professionals deep cleaning regularly. I wish I had a place like ABGC in my town growing up. It's a gift to our community.”

“The teachers are fabulous. Prior to joining the Y I went to a boutique gym that was three times more expensive than the Y and yet the teachers did not match the teachers at the Y. One example, at that gym all teachers were screaming all class long to cover the very high volume of the music. It was an unbearable cacophony that left me mentally exhausted. It was far from rewarding. When I tried to ask them to speak less over the music (since we were imitating their body movements anyway) they seemed very offended. I noticed that at the Y none of the teachers are in the bad habit of screaming during class, they respect the music, and let their bodies teach us the Zumba steps. I am highly recommending the Y. My only regret is that I did not join sooner!”

“Cute bookstore. Stopped in while on a work trip to the area. The book store itself is rather small but they have hundreds of books cataloged in the back so all you have to do is have them look it up for you. They also have local seasoning, crafts, and more displayed around the shop for purchase. I was able to get the book I was looking for along with some Zatar seasoning. It was a win win for me. Would definitely come back to find a new book or just to see what they have that's new. Part of the proceeds also go to a worthy cause of youth education and literacy so that makes it even better. Will definitely return!”

“Lots of super interesting things. The clothes do move very slowly but if you’re not going frequently it’s fine. The prices (at least for casual clothing and jewelry) are great.”

“My life fell to pieces one night leaving work, when I received a parents worst nightmare call that my child was heading to emergency. After over a week of my daughter fighting for her life in the PICU, she didn’t make it and passed away. During that time last thing I really wanted to think about was work or worrying about how income was going to come in. My HR representative gave me information for the Two Ten Footwear Foundation. I’m glad that I reached out and the process to apply for a grant was easy to navigate through. I was helped out with money towards funeral expenses and it allowed me to plan for everything possible that I wanted to do in honoring my little angel and not feel like I had to hold back on expenses. Thank you Two Ten for letting me grieve in peace and giving tools and resources to get back on my feet again.”

“This farm house was formerly located elsewhere. It once belonged to an African American family in the 1800's. At that time slavery had been abolished for quite some time in Massachusetts, so they would have been considered "free blacks" until 1865 when all slaves were formally emancipated in the USA. I didn't get to see the inside of this house but walked around the outside. I estimate that this house is roughly 16' x 32'. It looks like there is a tiny second floor area. From the front it looks probably much like it did when it was first built. The back has a wheelchair ramp, a piece of metal contemporary art and an air conditioning unit in one window. There is a large bell, some seating, and an informative sign out front. It is not owned by the National Parks but is right next to the parking lot for the North Bridge. It would be easy to visit the bridge and the Old Manse (owned by the trustees) at the same time. While this house is not grand, like the Old Manse, it is important to acknowledge how all Americans have lived, whether their ancestors were born on American soil, chose to start a new life here, or were forced to.”
