Be sure to double-check your receipts at the airport. The woman at the desk charged me for services I very specifically declined but showed up in tiny print on the charge estimate, ultimately doubling my rental cost at return. So far, the company won't refund the charge. Will not use Hertz again in Boston or elsewhere.

Car is extremely dirty. A young lady that processed the car, last name is Mendez, was rude and confrontational. She gave me a lot of attitude (like we shouldn’t be bothering her) and seemed aggressive. I laughed at her display of unprofessionalism. I would like to file a complaint; tried to reach the office by phone but sat on hold. I am a gold member.

I have always been a big fan of Hertz until now... I booked a rental online and went to check in and review my information. I noticed that the pick up and drop off times were incorrect and not what I set up. I tried to fix online but it wouldn't let me proceed. I called to speak with a representative. It took a long time to get connected and when connected the background noise was so loud I could barely hear him. He fixed the times but now told me it would cost $300 more to select anything outside of their standard window. Seriously?! I have never had this happen and if it's a new policy, it sucks! I ended up cancelling my reservation and going somewhere else. This experience was enough to make me avoid Hertz going forward.

Worst car rental experience imaginable. Long, slow lines at the checkout counter and the booths to leave the garage. Been here over an hour.

This place is terrible. I travel a lot for work and regularly use Hertz but I am done. There were only two workers at the counter and i was 6th in a line of 12 people. It took 45 minutes to get my car. At one point both people were helping one person! Then the line to exit the garage wasn't really long but it took another 30 minutes to escape. I spent less time on the plane than I did dealing with Hertz. I wish I could rate you with negative stars.Avis/Enterprise here I come......

Rented ahead of time as a gold plus member for estimated total of $198. Paperwork picked up with car showed correct dates and price. Returned at 11:40am as supposed to before noon. The guy said they would do the e-return and we would get an email. Well I got an email charging $254. They got the dates wrong and this made it look like I returned it 25 hours late. They also charged a $20 cleaning fee for no reason. Very difficult to find a person to talk to on the phone but finally did. We are supposed to get a refund but the woman couldn’t tell me how much because it had to be recalculated. She was very nice.

This is long overdue due but there was a very kind man named Bobby Yonni who helped me a few months ago at Hertz return area He went above and beyond the call of duty.I do alot of animal transportation and on my first run in with him he grewted me with a smile. He noticed inhad alot of stuff and drove me to the main airport so I can check in. I had a huge dog crate in the car.The second time he saw me there were no extra Hertz employees around to drive me to the airport so he helped me find a cart and helped me unload. I had a ton of bags and a dog crate again. He did the best he could and pushed the cart out to the buses for me.He was so kind and deserves a shout out! Thank you and im sorry it took me so long to write this review for you.I promised I would and I did!I kept your card for almost a year! hope you are well Bobby Yonni!Tinisha aka Transporter Tinisha

When I checked out the vehicle it smelled faintly of cigarette smoke which I attributed to a poor cleaning job. I didn’t think too much of it so I began driving away. As I drove I noticed the smell getting worse. I had the vehicle for the weekend and others commented about the smell as well. We joked saying Hertz must use Marlboro scented Lysol. After returning the vehicle I was charged a $500 smoking fee. I’ve tried to dispute the charge and they’re insisting I pay. I’ve read of similar reports from other customers. Actually incredible how little help their customer service team is considering how large of a business it is.

Sadly, this is the second time in six months that I have been denied a rental from Thrifty (which Hertz owns) at a location where Hertz was my only other rental option. At this location, Thrifty indicated a lack of vehicles available and sent me to the Hertz counter, as it was the only 24 hour counter and it was well after midnight. Instead of honoring my pre-paid $150 rental with Thrifty, we were forced to pay $700 to rent from Hertz. Moreover, I was not given the option in the check out process to opt out of the insurance; I was simply told that the price was $702, even after I said I had coverage through my own insurance. Only when I received my receipt at check-out did I see that the insurance was still listed on there, thus resulting in a much higher charge than the already much higher rental price from the Hertz-owned location that did not honor my pre-paid rental. Finally, when I popped by the return level of the parking garage just to check out the claim that there were no cars, I found tens of cars awaiting processing for return. I don't love paying more than needed for something as basic as a car, but I'll certainly pay more in the future to avoid doing business with the Hertz brand.

AVOID HERTZ!! Rented a car for 4 days. Once I got it over 45mph on the highway which was basically an hour from the rental location, the car had a horrendous vibration that was caused from a serious issue that wasn’t just a tire imbalance. Thankfully it didn’t break down over my 300+ mile journey. I tried taking it to a different location and they were no help nor even cared, just told me to take it back to where I rented it. My trip would be over 5 hours if I brought it back to the original location and then carried on my original travel plan. Worse car rental experience, on top of that they decided to charge me the PlatePass activation which I did not activate nor go through any tolls. Fraudulent charges and terrible vehicle quality. Avoid and use a different rental company.

My airline moved us to an earlier arriving flight by 8 hours to beat a snow storm in our connection. Hertz would not allow us to get a car early without changing the rate for our 4 days stay. We paid $150 extra dollars for 8 hours instead of just paying $40 for an extra day of rentals. Just because they can do this doesn't mean they should. No care what-so-ever for the customer.

Awful customer service, the old bald man in there has no customer experience at all. Rudely told me to go back and leave the keys in the car as if I should have known. Nobody around to explain anything, first time renting a car. Awful.

My husband and I reserved and paid for a car online to pick up at this location. When we arrived, the Hertz representative asked for our information and I explained that I had paid previously when the reservation was made to which she responded quickly and dismissively, "No, you didn't." I was in the process of explaining that the payment had shown up as completed on my banking app, but she interrupted and stated that the name on the credit card had to be the same as that on the reservation, even if the couple is married. I had not been made aware of any such policy by the Hertz website. Hertz had allowed the payment to be made without adequate explanation of such policy. The representative slid a flyer across the desk and told me to go call the number, that there was nothing she could do. At that point, she would not assist further and I called the number without anyone answering. I gave up after 20 minutes. While I was on hold, my husband approached a different Hertz representative who was far more helpful, though we had to make a second reservation and pay a second time. After more than a week has passed, I still have not received a refund and we had to pay twice with Hertz not honoring our original rate. The second representative we approached had done what he could do and was willing to take the time to explain Hertz's asinine policies and help us pay twice for one single rental (thanks, rep! Boo, Hertz!) The car we were presented with had keys that were missing and none of the Hertz reps could find them, so we were then directed to an electric car (cheaper to rent, but not what we paid for), which we declined, since the charge wouldn't have gotten us to our destination without having to stop and re-charge and we were already very late from having to run through the most expensive hoops you could imagine for a rental car. Never again with Hertz.

Second Hertz rental in a row where there were no cars available in the Boston area with a long line of people waiting. Local management are failing bad! I will be avoiding Hertz in the Boston area going forward until they get their act together.
