Do not rent a car from Thrifty unless you want to be scammed into paying out hundreds of extra dollars for extra insurance that you had rejected. The back story to this is that, after arriving at your location and rejecting any and all additional services and insurance, something called a Liability and Damage Waiver was still added to my contract by one of your agents without asking me beforehand or informing me that this would be done. I'm assuming the trick is that they offer insurance, the customer says no, and then they add the optional (and pricey) LDW without saying anything because they don't call it insurance.Which is an intentionally deceptive business practice. After doing some research online, I've found that this is a fairly common customer experience with Thrifty and Hertz. Here's an example from 2019 (elliott.org/travel-probl…) and another from 2022 (community.clark.com/t/th…).Unsurprisingly, nobody was willing to help make things right. There are plenty of other places to rent a car at Logan Airport. Don't go here.Oh and if you're on the Thrifty social media team and reading this review, my contract number is 810347672.

Having check in online for my rental at Boston Logan airport, I was instructed to proceed to the desk to pick up a key. The online check in process was laborious, it took 30 minutes.Yesterday at the Logan airport counter, I was told I have to wait in line to get processed again. At 3 pm there were 55 people in front of me. At 4 pm, there were 40 people in front of me. Based on the moving speed of the line, it will be 8 pm or later for me to advance to the counter. I called Thrifty call center, I could not reached anybody, but was instructed to use their website. The website does not give me an option to cancel the reservation and warned me that my payment will be forfeited for being a no show. I had to rent a car from another company.Anyone interested in a class action against Thrifty for collecting ill forgotten revenues in forfeiting payments due to Thrifty staffing inadequacies? No one wait for 5 hours just to get to the head of long queue.

Do not use this location. When I arrived to pick up my car there was a HUGE line of people and only 2 agents. Within 10 minutes one of the agents clocked out and left, with about 30ish people still left in line waiting for the cars they had booked. A dozen or more people gave up and quit the line in the hour I was there waiting before I too gave up. Absolute scam company, avoid them at all costs.Edit: These guys use the same canned response to every negative review. They dont give a damn about their garbage service. Don't give these clowns your money.

This company is apparently running a scam where they reserve cars for more customers than they are remotely capable of serving. When I got to the counter for my rental there was a line about 40 people long, and only 2 agents helping people. This was around 1030pm on a friday. After 10 minutes one of the 2 agents decided to clock out and leave, with still close to 40 people waiting for cars. Their game is that they book these cars, and take prepayments for the bookings, and then make it a complete nightmare to actually get the car you booked and paid for, hoping that most people will give up and they get to keep the money. Total scam, do not book with this agency. Do not listen to any of their nonsense about "striving to improve"DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR BUSINESS

Literally go to any other car rental in the building. There are a million extra fees that they don't tell you about until it's too late. When I booked it, my total was under $100 for ONE DAY. Once I got the final receipt with fees, the cost had tripled. FOR ONE DAY. It took them well over an hour to even get the car to me. When I arrived (at my allotted pick up time), they had zero cars available. There were other people in line that had been waiting over two hours. And the desk staff were far from helpful or pleasant. Additionally, the car was not in good condition; check engine light was on which is super comforting when traveling in an unfamiliar area.

THRIFTY CAR RENTAL - BOSTONRarely do we rent from a discount car rental company but the price was very attractive and how bad can it be, right? Our flight arrived in Boston a few minutes early on Friday evening giving us hope we could pick up our son earlier than expected from college. As we exited the car rental center transportation we passed several car rental agencies with limited or no traffic at the counters. We arrived at the Thrifty counter to a line of people so deep it looked like the line for tickets at a Taylor Swift concert. Two hours later we reached the counter and received a hand written contract as the printer had just failed. I was directed to proceed to the parking lot to pick up the car, following the signs for Thrifty.Surprise! Another line of people waiting for cars. I captured the cars available for all these people waiting. Yep, only one mini van available. After waiting approximately 30 minutes I asked the gentleman at the booth how long it would be for the car? Apparently, they were waiting for cars to be returned. I asked if it would be possible to have my pre-paid rental canceled and just book at Uber to my hotel. Okay, my voice may have elevated a couple of decibels at this point but after what was now approaching 3 hours this was extremely frustrating. Incredibly, a female Thrifty representative started screaming that she was cancelling the contract and calling the State Police. The lack of customer service was humiliating to say the least.A word of advice for anyone renting a car from Boston Airport, avoid Thrifty. I could have spent $50 more and saved 3 hours of frustration.

Horrible company! I never write negative reviews since if I don't like a place I just don't return but I wanted people to beware. This is the worse company I've EVER dealt with. I was completely scammed, from clerk telling us we were required to take on roadside assistance fees and additional fees..... To start, my boyfriend and I arrived to the rental center in the Boston airport and found ourselves waiting in line in for over an hour to get the "paperwork." We did a precheck in that required insurance and a facial recognition and to enter credit card information/verification, and still had to wait with a small sized dog that had been traveling and many pieces of luggage. That was the real reason we rented a car vs arranging a ride. The clerk said some of the fees would come off once the car was returned, we verbally multiple times declined their extra services, then at the end the clerk rushed us to sign and to move on to the next customer. We then got the vehicle which had a cracked windshield after waiting another half hour, hoping to get a car. Skip to us dropping off the car 2 hours early than needed, later to find we were slapped with a late fee even though we were way up in the air on our flight out, so there was no way we returned the car late. We even refueled at the airports gas station and were charged for gas fees. By the time my boyfriends American express was charged we had over $1000 in charges. We rented the car with total expected fee charge of $370. So over $600 in fees I was livid. When we tried to call we would get the run around for days, placed on hold or told we would get a call from a manager within 24 hours. Five days later I refused to get off the phone since I was told I would speak with a manager then pretty much thrown through the loop again. They ended up taking off the gas charge since I had two gas receipts, one from the night before and the final fueling at the airport. That and they removed the late charge since we had the flight information and yes we made it on our flight. They wouldn't do anything else about the fees and just acted like this is normal business for them. I'm NEVER doing business with this company again. There were many horrible scenarios with others around us in the facility such as being pushed into electric vehicles even though they needed a gas vehicle, to waiting for hours and not having a car. Just not the way to do business. The corporate office is a joke, it's a call center and no one cares, they are playing music and just tune out anything said. They don't even want to share their full names since they want to leave you in the dark to who you are speaking to. The reason I wanted a name was with the many hangups there was no accountability to anyone you spoke to. PLEASE DON'T BE TAKEN OF ADVANTAGE BY THIS COMPANY!

Do not use thrift OR any of the hertz companies. Plan on waiting AT LEAST 2 hours more at the airport if not longer. You can spend like 30 more dollars at another and not have to wait very long. These companies need to be run out of business. Look at how large they are and the negative reviews. They don't care. Also, they'll respond like they care and say copy link m.me/hertz. It almost looks like Hertz is intentionally making service bad at the subsidiary companies so you pay more at "hertz", but it all goes into the same pocket. Shame on Hertz and their business practices. If you actually care. DO something about this airport. Too bad people haven't "cancelled" hertz yet.

Absolute worst experience EVER! I rented through Expedia when I bought my plane tickets. We waited in line for 3 hours and ended up canceling because they would not assist us in any way-we had to call Thrifty and then-oh you’ll have to call Expedia. We needed to switch the driver (or pay a huge deposit with a credit check) Expedia called them asking to switch and they wouldn’t do it. Complained about a 3 hour wait and was told “I came in 4 hours early to help you!” Worst customer service I have ever had in my life! Lessons learned about booking through a 3rd party and will never use Thrifty again. We got a car through Enterprise and had great customer service and zero issues!

So freaking slow. I waited for nearly 2 hrs. They only had 2 employees while there were over 50 customers here. Each takes more than 10'. One of the employees, the fat guy here is not only slow but lazy, he just takes a break and calls someone else every 10-15' minutes. His name is, nominated for the Worst employee of the Year. He should be fired if i was his damn manager

What an experience when picking up from this location. 1 1/2 hours in line to get documentation, which car was prepaid for already. Then 1 1/2 hours in line to actually get the car out of lot. The car was on E when we picked it up, therefore return on E was on my document. Then charged $90 for gas that I wasn't supposed to even be charged for. Car was absolutely filthy inside. Stains on the seat, someones snot on the steering wheel ? would rate a zero if I could. I wish I had looked at the reviews before choosing Thrifty. NEVER AGAIN!

I’d rate zero stars if I could as this is by far the WORST EXPERIENCE IVE HAD with a rental car company at any airport. We are having to wait for a RIDICULOUS amount of time for our rental car and have been waiting for over an hour now and there’s a bunch of people here STILL WAITING for their cars. If you are going to rent a car out of Boston Logan Airport, PLEASE AVOID THRIFTY AT ALL COSTS and go for another company. This is OUTRAGEOUS!!! We certainly won’t be booking with Thrifty again especially since they tried to rent out cars they didn’t even have in the first place

DO NOT RENT HERE!!!Terrible customer service. Wait d over an hour in line for our car then waited outside.we begged to not have an electric car but we were not given a choice. We were given no instruction on the car. When we finallyFound a charging station we attempted to charge but it was going to take hours toCharge. I think it is ridiculous that you charge an exuberant charging fee when we were given no instructions on this! I willSHAME ON YOU!

If I could leave negative stars, I would. Boston Logan, did the "pre check" and had to wait in line for OVER AN HOUR. Do anything you can to not use Thrifty. With a line over an hour, they had three employees working. There was four, but one wondered off. Save your sanity and never book with Thrifty. By the way--- no line at any other rental companies.Update! The pain continues. After our hour wait at the counter, we had to wait in ANOTHER line for someone to bring each car one by one. Another half hour wait. This is the most painful, inefficient, ridiculous process ever.To top it off, we rented an EV which they gave to us only 55% charged.

Folks, ever wondered what it's like to travel back to 1995 and experience the glory of dial-up internet? Me neither, but Thrifty Car Rental gave me a glimpse of that era with their super slo-mo service! I zipped into Boston for a funeral, thinking I'd be in and out. Haha, nope! I spent an hour just to get my car paperwork. You'd think I was applying for citizenship to a new country or something. And then, the pièce de résistance, an additional 1.5-hour wait just to claim my horseless carriage. That's a whopping 2.5 hours folks--enough time to binge-watch an entire season of a sitcom or learn the basics of knitting. The staff? Bless their hearts, they were as stretched as a rubber band on a watermelon. And the cars? I suspect they were using a Star Trek transporter to beam 'em in because it looked like they were short on everything with four wheels.Used to love Thrifty, but let's just say it's been bumped down my list faster than a kid dropping their ice cream cone on a hot day.If you've got time to kill--or want to know what it feels like to lose your youth in a car rental line--Thrifty's your spot!
