Was staying in the Back Bay area of Boston. My hotel was a mile and a half away from my go-to spot for a breakfast sandwich, Archie's Deli. I asked the hotel concierge for a similar breakfast sandwich, as my google search really wasn't bringing up anything. He suggested Trident. Yes, it is doubles as a bookstore and a cafe. It looks like it is a residential neighborhood. But these are all businesses in what looks like older house. And Trident did indeed have a breakfast sandwich. I ordered one, with sausage and over-hard fried egg on an english muffin. The size was bigger than what I expected. Although i think the egg was a little overcooked, it didn't make it worse. I would maybe suggest scrambled eggs for this specific sandwich. Some cheese would make a great addition. The english muffin was fine, as well. Although it satisfied my needs, it still doesn't beat a Yahoo, from Archie's.

This part bookstore part cafe is much larger than expected with 2 stories replete with books, small gifts, puzzles, and more. The shop was very organized, and there are dining areas on both floors. The book prices are usually what is printed on the book, but there were quite a few books on sale and are clearly labeled. I stopped by the cafe on a chilly morning for a latte ($5, +$.95 for nondairy milk). It was fairly busy but there were several tables available. You scan a QR code for the menu and order online, and then a staff member brings the order over. My drink was ready in minutes and came piping hot. I forgot to order sugar so it was made as ordered and not sweet at all, but the coffee flavor still tasted good and energizing.

A bookshop that sells random trinkets AND has a cafe. I went here and wandered around the shop. There's a lot of little random things to look at and of course, a variety of books. The cafe, although nothing special, was nice. I ate, drank, and read my new book for a bit. You sit at a table and order from the QR code. They bring you your food/ drink. My server literally didn't say a word to me the whole time. She dropped my food off and rushed away that I didn't even have time to ask for a glass of water. I tried to flag her down but was unsuccessful so I had to go up to the car to ask her and she just handed me a glass without saying a word. My empty food plates sat on my table for about an hour until I left. And the unfortunate thing is you pay for your food and tip when you order so your tip isn't even based on the service you receive. My food was fine. I got French toast which was a bit tough. I would have loved. a second syrup cup but unfortunately no one ever came by for me to ask for one. I got a side of bacon that was very well done, like I like and I asked for. I got the French toast coffee that was called a customer favorite on the ordering site, and I enjoyed it! Overall this place is great for wasting some time looking around and eating but there's definitely better food places around

This cafe is nestled in a book store which has a great ambiance. We stumbled on this place looking for a place to grab brunch in the BackBay area of Boston. We were seated quickly at a window seat! Ask for the printed menu which has much more selection. Food was great and came quickly. Nice slice of heaven for an empty stomach!!

There is something comforting by a cafe in a bookshop for catching up with old friends, date night, or meeting someone new. Food was casual but provided good value. Expansive menu with a wide mix of breakfast or dinner with drinks ranging from coffee to beer.

Very cozy bookstore cafe. I came for the Oscars watch party and the ambiance was off the charts. I will note the drinks were super weak and the food was just ok (I got a crunchy western ranch salad w chicken)- chicken was so rubbery. Portions are huge. But Tridents focus are the books, not the food. Seems like a great study spot and I'll be coming back to browse for some books!

Food is great and well priced, great café menu variety. Service is bad. They make you pay the tip upfront when you order on your phone and they rarely come by your table to check on you, refill any waters or pick up dishes. So this place better pay their servers a salary because the tips are basically an added premium to your meal.

Came here for brunch. Was definitely a bit crowded and the space is small. I ordered the benedict and my friend ordered the beef stew. Portion to value is pretty good and the benedict was fairly standard

This is both a bookstore and a cafe. The bookstore was fine, but unfortunately the cafe was underwhelming. We came on a busy Saturday and were lucky enough to get a seat. Saw most people ordering breakfast, but being later in the day, I wanted lunch. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and my friend got the grilled cheese special with avocado. I love quesadillas but was disappointed with this one. It was cold and it didn't have much flavor. It only came with one small salsa, and that was the only thing saving it. It was dry and again...cold. I didn't enjoy it sadly. My friends grilled cheese was cold too, and the cheese barely melted. The place was packed so maybe we both just ordered the wrong thing, but I really did not enjoy my meal. As for the bookstore, they have so much to look at. Books upon books, trinkets, tarot cards, Boston merch, etc. Only thing is due to its product quantity, it's packed inside and gets very congested on busy days. It was hard to move around at some points due to how many people were inside. Overall I like the bookstore but unfortunately did not enjoy the cafe. Café: 2/5 Bookstore: 3.5/5

So much character and warmth from both the ambience and those that work here. This is one of my favorite places to get lost in for a couple hours find a few bucks and eat some yummy comfort food.

Our food came cold and the drinks weren't properly mixed and tasted terrible. I've eaten here before and loved it, but after this visit I will only go to purchase books. I usually don't even leave reviews but I needed to after today.

First this place is so cute! I've heard great things but had yet to ever make it in. The bookstore is such a great place if you're looking for nice gifts. They have so much more than books! I will definitely be back to pick up birthday and holiday gifts in the future. The service I received was friendly and welcoming. Also there's a loyalty program, which I'm a big fan of! It still actually a good loyalty program where you earn worthwhile rewards to use towards your next purchase. I still have to try the cafe. They have sit down service as well as to go order options. You can a QR code to place to go orders of coffee and food. Definitely looking forward to coming back and finding my next read and sip on some coffee!

Holy hell, what a shame. I grew up in Bostin and really enjoyed the food in this place back in the day, recently went in to have lunch and WOW they must have a blind cook with no taste buds, what a sad greasy mess. Truth is, if you can't cook eggs ...you have ZERO reason to work in a kitchen, just gross , I ordered hash and eggs , it came with a big greasy thumb print on the plate next to the dried out donator slice fur a garnish, , the over easy eggs that I ordered, were fried brown through, they were greasy ( fried in oil) they chewed like leather, the hash tasted like salt and what I would imagine the bottom af a dirty sink would smell like, the coffee was also burnt and the toast was cold and wet. But the server was nice lol Trident pay a decent cook a living wage and fire the cooks or re-train them how to cook, you are better than this.

Wait staff were robots. Irritated by questions about the menu...not helpful at all. We're there to simply get the food and bring it to the table. So disappointed because the food was so good. The food deserves better wait staff! Felt as though we were left alone to a QR Code menu and “take your chances” on the dishes. Place was full, these comments will be disregarded until the foot traffic decreases someday and they'll be forced to make some changes. But the food was excellent and it deserves better from those currently on the floor slinging it to customers.

I was walking in Boston and wanted a quick bite to eat. I thought a cafe in a bookstore would be fun. When you go in you find it's a diner style restaurant in the front. Then the bookstore is most of the building. There are 2 floors, you can eat upstairs as well. I wish I knew we this because where we ate was kind of crowded. They lots to choose from in the menu. Comfort foods like shepards's pie to grilled cheese, soups, salads. They also serve breakfast all day. They have coffee and I saw muffins on the counter. I wouldn't say the food is good, it's ok. I ordered a grilled cheese with a choice of bacon or avocado. I chose the avocado. It came with chips and a pickle. Usually a grilled cheese sandwich is hot. Mine was not at all. My friend got a chicken quesadilla and she didn't care for it. It was also not hot. It wasn't too pricy, which was good as the quality of food is disappointing. It was very crowded, so people must like the food. Maybe I didn't order the right food? The bookstore is fun, with lots of books, some at sale prices. All the selections you could want, from cooking, to fiction, nonfiction, psychology, mystery, poetry, music, photography, children's books. Wow! The list goes on. Then they have lots of gift items and fun things like posters, bags, magnets, key chains, candles, hair accessories, jewelry, just to name a few. I enjoyed this part of Trident bookstore and cafe the best! You have to come and explore. The prices here are reasonable. There is something for everyone. I came in a Saturday and it sure was busy!
