My friend recommended me Sun Auto, a lovely local family-owned business when I moved to Boston in 2017. I am so thankful to her. During the last five years, whenever I visited Sun Auto, they not only inspected or fixed my car perfectly but also very kindly took care of my needs. For example, when I had to replace my battery, the owners did so at a cheper price by utilizing the warranty, which I wasn't even aware that I had. This year I broke part of my car by running into the garage wall, and they kindly did the research for the price to help me decide whether I should use my insurance or not. After calling everywhere and calculating everything to print the numbers on the paper, they recommended me to use my insurance, despite that it meant that I had go to another Auto Shop designated by the insurance company. They also went beyond the boundary of their responsibility and helped me to figure out how to quickly get my car decal and registration, which I lost in the mailing process and etc. The owners are Korean, which means that they have excellent skills and work ethics, proven by the consistent honesty, diligence, and sincerety that I have seen for the last five years. I also love that Sun Auto is authorized to do the yearly inspection required by MA that I can take care of other maintenance issues and the inspection together. Another great pro to me is their location. They are located at the outskirt of Cambridge but it will not take too much time to get there because they are right next to Fresh Pond Parkway. Being slightly out of the busy center of Cambridge, Sun Auto has plenty of parking space, different from other body shops that I occasionally explored in other parts of Cambridge. Parking is always a nightmare in the city, especially when the body shop is full, so I personally find that I can park my car without being nervous is a big plus. Additionally there is a nice park right next to the shop that I can enjoy a walk or play with my phone as I wait for the car to be fixed. There is also a beautiful urban nursery around the corner that you can also enjoy the flowers and plants and do some impulse buying as you wait. There are PetCo, Whole Foods, and Staples within 5 min walking distance, which can also be a great way to spend time as you wait for the car. If you have time you can even explore the Fresh Pond which is also in 5 min walking distance. The owner will kindly call you when the car is ready. There is an Enterprise Rent-A-Car right next to Sun Auto, which I guess some people would find convenient if your care will need more time. In sum, I have been a customer of Sun Auto for the last 5 years and I am completely happy with their wonderful services. Honestly I am writing this review because I feel personally thankful to them for very kindly taking care of my various needs over the last five years and especially this year. My car is getting old and I drove very rarely as I worked from home during the pandemic, which is causing all sorts of problems. The owners have been always very friendly and nice despite I bothered them with so many small things... My car is well ready for commute now and I am so thankful. Isn't it proof of great service by itself that a lazy person like me feel so thankful and motivated to write such a long review?

Honest, thorough and fast. It's hard to find honest mechanics out there but this place is just that. It's a family run business.

I've used Sun Auto a few times for simple things-- oil changes, ac, etc. They have been fine. No wait. Very friendly family run business. The father has a heavy accent, but the son explained things to me.

Didn't check to see if it was the right part, and charged me for labor. I'm honestly sick to my stomach. I feel robbed.

Sun really saved me. The oil indicator came on my 2008 BMW. I went to add oil only to find the hood would not open. This was on a Sat afternoon and panic set in. The hood cable was broken so this was quite a job for Sun. And, I was really worried about the low oil status. Sun WAS able to get the hood open after taking off the bumper. All the fluids were topped off and the engine was spared. Very relieved and pleased to be charged a reasonable rate. He and his wife were honest and kind--no doubt this is not the kind of project one doesn't want on a Sat afternoon close to closing time. Also, this shop is in a nice location if you live in Cambridge. Easy to get to.

Great and quick service, low price of labor ($69/hr). They replaced my whole exhaust and catalytic converter in less than two hours. They are also very honest people. They've once advised me how to fix my headlight myself to save money.

We've been going here for post-warranty service on a '02 CRV and been very happy--indeed, twice (once on a Saturday problem with a check engine light, more recently on rear-axle diagnosis), this shop did not do work it didn't think had to be done--even when we expected a bigger bill. Service integrity close to home is often hard to find--but Sun has it.

These guys were ok. I did wait fifteen minutes once I got there but the price was way lower than all the other guys. Although there is huge profit in this biz (probably why people do it, to earn a living). I rented from the website (another 20% off) of the truck co. not directly from them. So all in all it was a hundred bucks for the truck and yes, this included the gas to move me about 20 miles and a nice full size dolly. Dropping it off was another wait of about ten minutes. Only one guy runs this side of the business so its all about the "timing" - much like most things in life.

This review concerns their Budget Truck Rental side business. The starting point for the rental was ok. They do the traditional attempted scare tactics to buy the overpriced insurance. They talk about all the ways they can rip you off...er...surcharge you for important benefits. The first annoyance, was double booking a single truck so I had to drive a behemoth instead of the 10 footer I rented. No extra charge, other than the fact that I bet it guzzled gas more. Speaking of gas, they did the trick where it doesn't start full so it is near impossible to give them back the exact amount of gas, which of course means you end up giving them free gas or be charged an obscene amount of money. I also noticed later that the vehicle interior was pretty dirty, which is great since I was told I could be charged $25.00 or more if it was not swept out. Most of these complaints are standard fare for any truck rental place, as a rule they suck. Now where this place separated itself in sucking was when we dropped off the truck. We entered the building (which by the way reminds me of 1974) and were told to sit down. It was unclear how long this would take. Apparently it would take 35 minutes. There was one person on duty for rentals (I guess, since there were other people around ignoring us) and he was renting a truck to someone as if he was trying to sell them a Lexus. Apparently they didn't seem to even know what a truck was based upon his explanation which we partially overheard. A new truck to be turned in pulled up while he was showing the customers what wheels were or something, and I ran out to make sure we weren't cut in line. He then finally took care of us and sort of apologized for the wait. I don't think he really had any concept of how long it was. In conclusion, rent your truck elsewhere. But if you like Tarantino films, definitely stop by the waiting room.
