About Boston Area Rape Crisis Center
The Boston Area Rape Crisis Center (BARCC) provides free, confidential support and services to survivors of sexual violence ages 12 and up and their families and friends. We work with survivors of all genders from the immediate crisis after sexual violence to years and decades later, and our goal is to empower survivors to heal. We also work with a wide range of organizations and communities, including schools, colleges, and police, to advocate for change. We provide training in how to respond to survivors and create cultures that prevent sexual violence in the first place. Our phone hotline is available by phone 24-7 at 800-841-8371, and by web chat 9:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m. on our website.

In January 2024, a woman I was dating from Seaport digitally penetrated me without my consent. I tried calling this number for help and was hung up on me three times in a row. I was suffering internally due to what happened to me. To this day, I question my sexuality on a frequent basis.

Very unprofessional. Unfortunately this is a very poorly run organization. Same issues as everyone else. I would not recommend this if you are looking for support. Shame on these people.

I had the same issues as so many. The folks at the hotline were great. The staff that followed up to my inquiry were rude, dismissive, and lack any sort of understanding to trauma. They told me to stop calling them (I called three times within a 5 week period so far from repetitive) and told me that I am probably the problem.
