Don't bank there as a former employee they treat them like slaves. When my mother died 15 years ago, I could not go to see her as she was taking her last breath. Massachusetts state law says that if a relative is near death, your employer MUST give you 24 hours paid time to see your relative. Cambridge Trust did not do that for me. They said if I had left work, I would be fired. That's how much they care about their employees or slaves. Regardless, they broke the law even 15 years after the fact. I am still suffering from anxiety and depression for what they did to me and as a result, I am contacting the EOC and my attorney for what they have done The battle between Cambridge Trust and me is far from over. I plan to bring them down for the anguish and suffering they caused me.

I have banked here for over fifteen years and have been very happy about it. Tellers are friendly, and so are the managers. They know my name and greet everybody there with a smile. There is nothing extra special here as far as the banking goes, just straightforward banking with a feeling of a small neighborhood bodega. Love the international feeling there as well - I can practice my imperfect French, Spanish, Romanian, and even Russian there as I make a deposit and discuss the weather or the history of Newtowne aka Cambridge, MA. Merci Cambridge Trust!

There is a branch manager who is very unprofessional, surly, and downright incompetent at Harvard Square branch.I have had this account for 10 years and first time saw this incompetent manager who is treating very discriminatory against the customer(s) based on the sound of their name origin. To add insult to injury, he began to ask me the security questions and denied my ID to do any transactions in the bank which used to do with other bank teller and personnel.Stay away this branch!

Here's a fun thing I learned today: If you move to Cambridge for the first time to go to school and decide to open a basic checking account at a smaller bank to help support the local economy and hopefully be treated more like a person, and then you graduate and get a job and you keep using Cambridge Trust as your main bank for over a decade (because hey, no complaints! still love to support the smaller guy!), and then you eventually open up a new account at a different bank since you don't live in Harvard Square anymore and it's no longer as convenient as it used to be, and then you just keep a few hundred dollars in the old account for a few more years out of laziness or maybe some misplaced loyalty or nostalgia? Cambridge Trust will quietly start debiting $5 a month every month as an "inactivity fee," to cover the expense of them [checks notes] holding onto your money while providing no interest and no services aside from a monthly automated statement email and never notifying you how or when your account had triggered this inactivity fee, until you go from several hundred dollars to $0 (at which point, presumably, they will start to charge you overdraft fees and would finally deign to take the time to notify you that you owe them money). Then when you finally happen to notice that there's $3 in an account that used to have $300 and you call them to ask "yes hello, wtf?" they'll tell you that their policy is that they can only refund 90 days of charges. But don't worry, they escalated the matter and were able to refund a whole six months' worth, so hooray, for taking the time to complain, you get $30 of your money generously returned to you! Thanks for the memories, Cambridge Trust Company. It was a great 17 years, but looks like I won't be thinking back on you fondly.

The management of this banking group is among some of the unscrupulous that I have dealt with. If they make ANY promises or representation to you, be sure to get it in writing, because they will later deny that to you detriment without regret.

CAMBRIDGE TRUST ! AN OXYMORON? I was a happy satisfied customer with Wellesely Bank for 53 years! NEVER had a problem with them in all those years. I applied for and received a home montage from then, as well as a couple of auto loans, etc. - over the years we did business together. I had no problems with Wellesley Bank or they we me; if there was a question or concern, it was always answered promptly and most often in person. Most of the phone operators, tellers and members of management know me personally and by name. I WAS TRULY A HAPPY BANKER! - that is until - Wellesley Bank merge with, or was sold to, Cambridge Trust in Oct. 2020. I have no details why Wellesley Bank dissolved and most likely do not need to know. . . Sadly, with much frustration, I have been living and descending lower each day into a lower level of Dante's Hell every day since the transfer between banks - THAT'S 4 MONTHS SINCE THE TRANSER. It is not worth going into ALL the confusing details and development here - but most likely my headaches began back in Oct. when Wellesley Banks became Cambridge Trust - at that time one of the banks transferred my Money Market account into my personal checking accounts; I did not know any of this until January 2021, when a letter from Cambridge Trust informed me that I had been improperly using my money market (limited to 6 transactions a month) to pay for my everyday purchases (food, rent, utilities, etc.) . . . at first I was not informed by managers and tellers that this was a transfer error between the banks and I had nothing to do about it - but it sure took a long time to get it straighten out . . . some people I corresponded with were helpful, too many were unresponsive and/or a bit rude - putting the blame on me rather than the bank. Case in point, I have been trying to purchase a new computer for the last 3 or 4 weeks and my CT debit and credit card have been consistently refused - even after being reassured by one of the mangers I had approval to make the purchase on the day I told them I would be at the store. . . . nothing but excuses, excuses, and more excuses - how many times should a client be required to answer security question for a manger to view my bank account information? Apparently Cambridge Trust just doesn't TRUST ME to give me THE MONEY that I deposited into their bank!

I have been a customer of the Harvard Trust Company/Harvard Square branch for a half-century and counting. The Harvard Trust at Harvard Square offers superlative service and goes out of its way to help its customers (who are treated like clients, not just customers).

Called several times to request a mortgage statement and they said will send it through e-mail but they never do. Very frustrating.I reached out to Jason Schweiger and he was kind enough to resolve the issue.

I agree with the previous review of this bank. The bank officers are rude, supercilious and just flat-out arrogant. No detail is too large for them to overlook. They are frequently brusque, curt and generally unhelpful - it seems a challenge for them to be even somewhat professional. On a much more positive note, I have enjoyed my day-to-day interaction with the bank tellers. They are prompt and courteous, making a strong effort to remember everyone. A dramatic dichotomy.

After getting mortgage from Cambridge Trust almost 10 years ago, I applied for refinance in the Spring. All of the representatives were highly disorganized, did not put effort into communication, and often appear that they don't know the regulation well. They mis-communicated on the required forms and repeatedly asked the same forms. Once I submitted all materials, they then forgot my application for more than a month until the rate lock was almost expired.I asked about updated rate multiple times, but was ignored by everyone on the team. They rushed me to provide them with additional information because of the delay. Once the mortgage was finalized, the representative then informed me that the current rate was lower than the rate we locked on. They then sold my mortgage immediately to a national big bank. The whole purpose of me using Cambridge Trust was to work with a local bank. However, apparently they do not value local customers wanting to work with a local bank. Poor experience. I will not recommend anyone to work with them.

I walked in to open an account as POA. After signing checks and depositing in to the newly opened account I go home to receive a call stating that the translated POA that was done by overseas government can not be verified thus the account will be canceled ( PS the identification of the person was done by US Consulate , and that POA was used for past 2.5 years in many dealing including dealing with US government). I immediately asked to talk to the person who makes that decision instead I get a call from another coworker not the manager giving me the spiel . I AM FURIOUS TO ANOTHER DEGREE. NOW I CAN NOT EVEN SEND THE CHECK OVERSEAS SINCE THEY ARE SIGNED. STAY AWAY FROM THIS UNPROFESSIONAL BANK

This is a great bank esp if you are traveling internationally using a debit card- only a 2% transaction fee on foreign currency transactions and 1$ to withdraw money at any ATM in the world! Built in 4 digit pin - my debit card is super old and didn't have a chip and yet I was still able to use it seamlessly in three countries in Europe.
