Bad beans, staff not knowing coffee basics.
The beans were old and some roast dates were unmarked. The staff said the beans last 180 days. They should try make a traditional espresso with 6 month old beans 😂
Optimal resting days between roast for espresso by roast level:
decaf 4-7 days
dark: 1 week
medium: 2 weeks
Light: 3-4 weeks.
After, it loses much of its unique flavor which is the only thing setting its $18 beans apart from $8 beans.
Verve has one of the best decaf in the world but this place doesn't do their beans justice. Order online from their shop.
Just go to George Howell once and see the difference in staff and beans. The baristas love coffee beyond it being a job.

There is no better customer service or cafe experience than that provided by Elroy and Steph! Krystal is also amazing. 10/10 service and great coffee. Thank you Cap1! Everyone should be a little bit more like this team.

The Capital One employees here have a super annoying habit of coming up behind you while you're in the middle of an ATM transaction and asking if they can help.
My first instinct when someone comes up behind me at an ATM is to spray them with mace, so they really should stop doing this. It's unnecessary, , it's an invasion of privacy and it's just wrong

What a refreshing experience! The information person is an amazing person as well the barista. What a great vibe.2/4 I stopped in and the Capital one ambassador “ Jeremy “ was very patient and helpful. All my concerns and needs were met and it was a very pleasant experience.

I love this place. Having a Capital One credit card is definitely an added perk, as it gets you 50% off drinks, and when a latte is $6 in Boston, that discount is nice.
They have a nice coffee and tea selection, plus yogurts and juices and pastries and all that. I’ve had a sandwich here and it’s just okay. Everything else is pretty good though.
As others have said, it’s a gem in that most days, it is nowhere near as crowded as other coffee joints. WiFi, friendly staff, good atmosphere. The biggest win, for me, is that you are allowed to hang or linger. So many of the crowded spots in Boston have time limits, no WiFi in order to encourage you to shuffle out, all that. Plus, no available seats even if you could linger. As someone who occasionally is mobile and needs a place to post up all day, that sucks. But not at Capital One Cafe! Every once in a while I’ll sit here for hours at a time. Big fan.

I love this cafe, amazing staff, great coffee and seats and 50% discount if you have a capital one card. For me, it’s the best value coffee shop in Harvard Square. Not packed at all unlike other ones. And many extra discounts, free samplers, etc…

A nice cafe situated in the heart of Harvard Square. You can get 50% off all drinks if you pay with a capital one card. Overall, solid experience with pretty good coffee. I would stop by again!

Awesome place awesome service.
Walked in and was initially very confused as I wasn't sure where the bank was. However someone quickly walked up to me and asked if I needed help. I told them I needed help opening an account and they brought me into a nice room.
The reason I went in person was because I was having issues (not their fault, mine). When they saw that this was going to take a little longer than expected the person I was working with had someone grab me a free cup of coffee while we figured it out.
Although Opening the account still had issues (my fault as I opened several credit cards and accounts in a short span of time triggering a flag in the system) the person I was working with obviously knew what he was doing and tried very hard to get things working for me. 10/10 experience, worlds better then my previous bank.
