Consistently solid selection with fair Harvard sq prices, extracare plus also helps significantly (1/29/25).
Mostly just use pickup orders fairly convenient (2/20/25), self service also good (3/9/25).
Assistance/help kind of slow, team members not especially knowledgeable (3/10/25).

Terrible communication. Received a text that my medication was being filled, was told to wait 15 minutes, waited an hour, finally asked about it only to be told they were out of the medication.

I hate that in Harvard Sq, this is the only store of it's kind within a reasonable distance from my house. It's convenient, but it leaves you with no option but to pay their totally unreasonable prices (even after using the app with all my extra bucks and coupons, when I actually receive my rewards (only half the time on their glitchy, totally disfunctional app). Most of their employees (except at the pharmacy) are very rude and treat anyone who doesn't look wealthy like a criminal. I always get followed around by employees because they think I'm a thief for some reason, while they don't notice the kid in the next isle clear an entire shelf into a giant duffle bag and casually walking out. The employees are truly oblivious, rude, prejudice and unhelpful. When I need help they never come around and they've miss ed out on a ton of sales. They're obviously a failing business and need to hire competent people. They also need to give their excellent pharmacy team raises. That pharmacy is so damn busy...they can't afford to close down for lunch and close as early as they do in a 24 hour store in Harvard Sq! These people work their asses off, maintain their friendliness under pressure and get the job done so efficiently. It's impressive, and the company doesnt seem to care. They deserve better work conditions.

I needed the case unlocked to purchase Advil. No one came to help, and it wasn’t particularly busy, so I asked at the register and the person working was extraordinarily stressed and upset at my request. When I tried to thank the employee afterward for helping me, they cut me off angrily and stormed off.
It was unfortunate to have that stress taken out on me, but honestly, I blame management and the owners of this location, not so much the staff member—it’s up to those in charge to create an environment where staff don’t feel overwhelmed, especially if the store has made the unfortunate decision (imo) to lock up popular items.

Every day I go I'm accosted by junkies out front and then I'm forced to watch shoplifters just grab whatever they want and walk out the door unimpeded. The complete lack of caring by the staff infuriates me. Shoplifting affects shareholders and customers who pay equally.
They used to have uniformed security guards who couldn't be bothered to flag down a Cambridge cop outside the store.

This location is woefully understaffed. While several of the team members are nice, CVS seems to be trying to cut costs by staffing shifts with only one pharmacist and replacing other pharmacists with pharmacy techs (four of which on duty).
During my visit on 9/22, people were waiting close to two hours for vaccinations, and I waited over an hour to make my purchase.
There need to be at least four pharmacists staffed per shift to keep up with demand at this location, but CVS seems to prefer to destroy any brand loyalty that still exists in favor of saving money that they should be spending on qualified staff.

If you make a vaccine appointment, come 10 minutes early because you’ll just wait for a while anyway. If you’re coming for a prescription anticipate 15 minutes

Treat you like a criminal for wanting to buy some Tide (they have to unlock it and they have to bring it to the register, and then you have to wait for someone to hand it to you). Might as well just buy it on Amazon! (Which I’ll be doing in future.) Yet when I saw someone steal something the other day, they just yelled at him to stop as he walked out the door saying that they’d get him next time. So that makes me ask why there are locked cabinets then? Make their loss prevention strategy make sense! You could just pick the Tide up at the register and walk out!
Performative loss prevention, at the expense of convenience for everyone else.

Ahoy, ahoy! Come here ye, and come all, to this all-encompassing treasure box of a CVS 😂 (okay, okay, calm down Joseph 😅) But I’m being frank with ya… this CVS has it all! Especially their snack selection. My daughter came in here yipping about how she wants to buy chocolate chips… yeah, straight up chocolate chips 🤣 for what you may ask?? I don’t have a clue! She’s a freak! But yeah, we found some at this lovely CVS! And ya know what she did with em? She made us do a taste test guessing game where we have to guess which ones are the chocolate covered grapes and which ones are the furry balls of cat feeces! Let’s just say, I got it wrong… and boy oh boy she’s grounded 😅 (big time!!!)
I digress! If I had one complaint/ notable thing to say, it’s that many of the items here are locked up, so you have to find an employee to unlock it. Even things like toothpaste and other hygiene stuff. But the staff are not too hard to find, it’s just a little extra time spent here n’ there!
Another thing is about the self-checkout machines. They don’t work! Wrap me up in a fursuit and hang me up on a tree, jiminy crickets! I’ll be darned the day that I ACTUALLY make a successful purchase on them machines 😂. But it’s all good, I just go to the cashier 🤣 robots are taking over the world anyway 😂😂😂. And the machine freakin yells at me about my bags!
Well overall, I like this place. It’s reliable, stocked, and one of the better locations for a CVS 😂
Your favorite guy with stories, shenanigans, and feedback,
— Joseph 🙂

Sarada was wonderful and pleasant. She was very helpful and went beyond to help me finding what I needed. I wish all the stores had someone like Sarada to provide this type of customer service. Kudos to Sarada.
