“This is a great gym. A lot of equipment for weight lifting as well as a ton of treadmills and other cardio equipment. You can also sign up for classes and squash or basketball. Nice bathrooms with lockers, sauna and cold tub for muscle recovery. The staff is super nice, from the front desk to administrative positions and personal coaches.”

“A great local gym in Cambridge, MA.
1. A very reasonable price for day pass.
2. Lot of caloric and weight equipments.
3. Great collection (in terms of weight) of hard style kettlebellsm.
4. Towels are available.”
“I'm doing some private sessions with Kate and Sherry and so far the experience has been wonderful. The ladies are super kind, they explain things so you'll understand and they take their time. The studio is welcoming, very clean and quiet.”

“Nice park! Whatever they use to pad the ground around the playscape is so nice on your feet when you're taking a break - I wish I could just carpet my apartment with the same material”

“I've been a Healthworks member for 5 years—these are my thoughts.
I think Healthworks is a great gym for many reasons:
- The location is accessible. Walkable, and is right next to the Porter Square T stop. Parking is questionable sometimes, but there is parking.
- The facility is clean. The housekeeping team is always working hard to keep things looking nice and well-maintained.
- The equipment and machines are well-maintained for the most part. Not everything, but overall, equipment is in good shape. A renovation took place a couple of years ago, so only time will tell how well things are maintained as time goes by.
- There's an app for accessing the facility, class registration, online class access, and some membership management abilities. This is a nice plus in terms of ease of access.
- There are a wide variety of classes offered.
- You can freeze your membership for up to 6 months a year and pay a significantly reduced rate.
- It's a non-CIS male gym. That benefit speaks for itself.
I think Healthworks has some areas to improve on:
- The membership dues are very high. When I joined in 2021 I paid $90/month. I had access to the fitness floor, towel service, classes, spa amenities, access to other locations, and 5 guest passes. In 2026, I now pay ~$180/month and what I get for my membership dues really hasn't changed.
- Membership rates have grown astronomically. There are simply just certain times where you cannot go to Healthworks because there's no room.
- The facility has reached its maximum space, so it is unlikely that more equipment will be added.
- Though there are many classes offered, many new classes or unique classes are for an additional fee, and a large one at that. $218/month or $23 drop-in.
- Regardless of the time of day, some trainers are possessive of spaces and equipment. I also notice that trainers rarely wipe down or clean equipment after using it. It can be difficult to share the space with them. I get that this is a difficult problem to solve.
- The spa area is always busy. I think it's too small for the size of the member rate that now exists.
- The 5 guest passes I mentioned are a total number, not a recurring amount you get every month or even every year. You get 5 included with your membership, and if you need more, it's an additional fee.
Overall, I think Healthworks is a good gym, but for the reasons I outlined, I do not think it is worth the current rate.”
“5 stars for the NRA BASIC PISTOL COURSE training i got over two sundays. The basement serves as a .22 range for the MIT pistol & rifle club. As far as i know these classes have neen suspended or are simply not offered anymore because of liability”
“I am editing this after trying their main location. That place is awesome! If sanctuary is not your place, try the main location. Best gym I have been!
I have been using this facility for almost 3 years now. Despite charging an additional facility fee over the membership fee, can't say facilities are satisfactory. For example, despite multiple requests, except for one shower in men's dressing room, all the showers have minimum water pressure. 3 out of 4 showers are completely useless. Scattered weights, missing dumbells are a common sight. If charging an additional facility fee, this should not be the case.”
“Its a very decent YMCA all the staff are very kind, very approachable. Everything is on-line like schedules and classes makes it super easy to sign up. A bit more expensive than a regular gym so to get your money's worth definetly use the pool. You will be paying way to much if you go as a guest so definetly get a basic membership and add what you need to that. I went because it was very close to me on Mass Ave in Cambridge across from City Hall. Definetly worth a look! A half block from the 1 Bus and 2 blocks from the Central Square Red Line T Stop. Walk up Mass Ave and when you pass the large post office building you're almost there. Kind of easy to miss the YMCA the first time. Also there's a ramp entrance on the side. I was pleasantly surprised how nice they are at the YMCA”
“Very happy with this gym. Centrally located near lots of employers. I was in town for work, didn't want to just stop my training, and BodyScapes fit the bill, providing week and month passes = perfect. All the equipment you need, dumbbells up to 80 lbs, locker rooms, showers, and classes and other things I didn't need.”
“Great gym, very convenient for Harvard Law students. This is probably the busiest gym I’ve ever been to. There is always someone waiting to use the machine I’m on, and everything is almost used by someone. All racks are used.
No matter what time you come it is incredibly busy, which makes it hard to work out, or even walk from one machine to another. I wish it was open 24/7 so that I could come at 1am or 2am.”
“Pretty solid for a planet fitness. Only complaint is locker room usually smells horrible which leeches into one of the workout areas. New equipment is good but some spots are overcrowded”
“I don't know why I haven't started coming here sooner!! Everyone is so welcoming and inclusive. All of the trainers are so kind and knowledgeable. It's an amazing community they've built. Would recommend to anyone at any skill level!”
