Not that friendly to me. Got a little creeped out after using restroom and man standing at the door staring at me.

One of my favorite book stores in the area. Great selection and atmosphere. There's also a little cafe in the bookstore!

Wonderful community bookstore, everyone I interacted with was so lovely and nice, the café even had half-caf iced coffee which absolutely made my day. It wasn’t even that expensive.

This bookstore in general is wonderful. The staff is super nice and accommodating about disabilities as well. I live in a different state but I hope to come back if I'm in that area again. Because of its location parking can be really difficult (at least for people who aren't used to it) but the bookstore staff was able to give parking advice. There are also quite a few places nearby such as Panera and star market.

This is my bookstore! I haven't been to a bookstore where so many marginalized artist are featured. They have such a wide variety of books from awesome YA books to tarot cards. Did I mention the coffee shop in the store? So good, try the ginger lemonade and the oatmeal cookies!!

Great medium sized indie book store with strong selection of YA and middle grade, as well as fiction. Lovely card selection, gifts and toys. Located in Porter Square. Check out the toy store, too, nearby

Porter Square Books has gotten a bit less "white" and middle class over the years but still has a long way to go. I hope they will offer more books and periodicals in other languages someday, especially as the immigrant and refugee population grows in the area.

I just love this place. Come for a local author’s book reading, stay for a cup of tea, feel good about buying a book from the sweetest bookstore around. It’s worth the few extra bucks to avoid Amazon and instead spend an afternoon among book lovers in a cozy little store.

So, this is the first negative review I have ever written about a bookstore. I have been there like 15+ times, the last ten of them more out of convenience from where I work and really just need a vacant space to write sometimes. But every time I leave, I feel bad about myself? I have had some pretty gnarly interactions with the staff, 2/10 they are super nice, 8/10 they are unpleasant, sometimes outright rude. Book stores are known for snobbery but they take it to another level. Also, like at this point with the mask thing, whatever you feel safe doing, okay, but I have literally had one of their staff physically run away from me because I didn't have a mask on. The cafe staff repeatedly judges you before you speak a word on your appearance, including masks. Today was my last time ever going there. It just seeps with entitlement, and given the area it makes sense, but it would be cool if they hired chill people that have had other kinds of jobs in their lives and take the whole thing a little less seriously.

Very lovely bookstore. Shop local!A bit cramped but that’s because of its popularity. Coffee shop in front is a nice touch, but I didn’t have anything from it. Seems like there was a constant line for it the whole time I was there, so it must be good! Very kind staff and prices seem reasonable.

Lots of good books around! There is a cute cafe inside called Cafe Zing. So you can scan books and also read them while drinking your fav coffee.
