The staff here are loving and warm and you can tell they love working with children! Our son had a wonderful experience here. Would highly recommend them! They get the students outside every day and enjoy many locals parks in the neighborhood.

I am writing to share my experiences and concerns as a former member of the Rock and Roll Daycare community, where my family was enrolled for nearly two years. Unfortunately, due to persistent health and safety concerns, we made the difficult decision to withdraw from the center. I believe it is crucial to provide feedback on our experience in the hope of fostering positive change.Throughout our time at Rock and Roll Daycare, I observed various issues that deeply troubled me, particularly in the context of the challenging year that was 2023. I feel compelled to express my serious reservations about the compromise in the safety of both children and staff. From my perspective, the administration displayed a consistent pattern of poor communication, selective omission of details to serve their interests, and an overall lack of organization. Regrettably, it seemed that the staff was not treated well, and there was an alarming level of vindictiveness, creating a hostile environment that, I believe, is not conducive to effective teaching and caregiving. One notable example of this disconcerting pattern was the handling of a rodent infestation at the Central Square location, which began in April 2023. Shockingly, parents were not informed of this issue until November 2023, leaving staff and children to contend with rodent-related problems for a staggering seven months. The delayed communication on such a critical matter raises serious concerns about transparency and the well-being of the children and staff. The closure of the Central Square location became inevitable due to the persistent rodent issue. However, the administration was notably absent during this critical period. Despite numerous requests for direct communication with the owners and executive team, parents were consistently denied such interaction. It appeared as though there was a reluctance to confront parents directly and address the concerns and next steps. Rather than the owners engaging with the community as a whole, they chose to deflect blame to the directors and staff of the center via e-mail, instead of owning up to their mistakes. Moreover, it was disheartening to witness the implosion of the Rock and Roll Central Square team and community, which had initially been characterized by a deep commitment to the children and a focus on education rather than mere childcare provision. The team diligently adhered to protocols, ensuring the safety of the children and fostering a strong sense of community. Instead of being praised for their efforts, they were either terminated or displaced to a new location. In contrast, the administration's failure to follow EEC protocols and their own manuals/handbooks became glaringly apparent in day-to-day operations. This lack of adherence to established guidelines and the subsequent impact on the well-being of the community is deeply troubling. In conclusion, I implore the owners and executive team to reflect on the concerns raised in this review and take decisive action to address the systemic issues that have compromised the well-being of both staff and children. I believe that with the right changes and a renewed commitment to transparency and communication, JAMI Rock and Roll Daycare can once again become a safe and nurturing space for families.

The owners / operators of this daycare are horrible. Over several months, the center has been dealing with an ongoing issue of water leaking into electrical equipment in the kitchen. This has resulted in MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND MULTIPLE EMERGENCY CLOSURES OF THE CENTER. I have tried contacting management, and they're on vacation. So nobody is looking after this place. Please send your child elsewhere to daycare!

We had a great experience at this center. Our daughter benefited from drop in care. Miss Jade was amazing: very caring with the children, great communication with the parents, class rooms were very clean and nicely equipped. We would recommend this center. Great team! Great management!

There are probably a lot of amazing caregivers at Rock and Roll and our issue stems mainly from one teacher in the infant room at the central square location but it's clear that the people on the top didn't really care about our baby or our complaints, which were:1. My son was left alone to cry for the majority of his time there. I know because they provide live camera access. Had I not had the camera I would have known something was wrong because even after two weeks he would cry when he saw me and would often have red eyes at pick up. After the first week I asked them to help him with this transition by checking in with him. They sat with him for one day then it was back to leaving him alone.2. A week and a half in, he came home with a burst blood vessel in his eye. I had been watching the cameras a lot at this point and he didn't have any toys, he was just sitting and crying all day. The teachers were sitting with the calm babies (all other babies in the room were older than him by at least a month or two). At this point I brought it up with the teacher at dropoff the next morning and was told that he had just "worked himself up", crying this much was normal, that he just wants to be held all day and that they were taking care of the other babies. So I thought maybe I was overreacting...3. During the 3rd week he started to develop a bad diaper rash. The worst I have ever seen on him. I treated it frequently at home and it kept getting worse. After 3 days I asked them if they noticed it and the teacher barely responded so I asked if she could please use the diaper cream directly on the rash at every diaper change (shouldn't this be obvious?). When they started treating it, it cleared up.4. The final straw was during the third week when he was again alone crying on the corner of the play mat while the teacher was sitting with two other babies and I saw her walk over, pick him up off the ground by one arm to bring him closer to her. She looked annoyed at HIM.When I gave a detailed complaint to the director she was kind and apologized but also made some excuses. She said leadership would reach out to me and they never did. I hope this is just a bad teacher at one location but I felt that my suggestions and eventual complaints were ignored so I couldn't trust them with my baby anymore.

Both of my girls spent more than one year at the Inman square location. And they loved their daycare so much!!! We love it for the following reasons: 1. The caring staff! Kids are well-loved at their school. My kids are very close to their teachers and it has been an unforgettable experience. 2. Kids learned a lot. They learned so many songs at school and they enjoy singing and dancing very much. And my older one learned to read books and do some challenging math problems. We didn't teach her much at home and it is amazing for us to what much she learned at school. 3. The center is well organized. All inclusive programs, no need to bring lunch and diaper. That makes our life so much easier. Every month there are kids' performance show and other events. 4. The musical theme is great for kids. The musical director Phil is awesome! The downside: the center is relatively small. But it didn't bother me at all. I am just happy to see two little happy faces everyday. My older one will start kindergarten this September and we are also planing to transfer my younger one to a nearby center. I am sure that they will miss their old daycare a lot! There will be lots of tears at the moments of saying goodbye.

The best daycare! Highly recommended. Full-service daycare, plus a Montessori inspired daycare make this the best choice for daycare.

I called and tour a month ago and they are just now emailing me about availability and what do you know... they're at capacity. Just disappointed at how long it took for a response about enrollment. The daycare itself wasn't at all diverse either which was another disappointment.

Pretty much everything about this place is false advertising. They claim to be Montessori, but have no Montessori certified teachers. In fact many of the teachers have a hard time speaking English properly. They claim to follow the Cambridge Public School opening and closing schedule but every winter they close due to weather when all other schools are open. They claim to have a surveillance camera in every classroom where parents can watch their kids but theirs is broken most of the time. They advertise a caring, nurturing environment but if you pop in middle of the day you will see teachers neglecting the kids and their ratios are off. They claim that they report all incidents involving a child to parents but actually the teachers withhold information from parents (in my case my child got beat up by kids in his pre-school class twice and the teacher failed to share that with me and the Director did not know about it). They claim to accommodate kids with allergies, yet the teacher in our class did not know where my son's epi-pen was or how to use it. In my case when I brought my issues to the attention of the school, nothing was done and they mostly cared about me not pursuing the return of my deposit when we left. There are many options for child care in Cambridge, MA. Please don't send your children here, they are not safe!

Rock and Roll Daycare program provides one of a kind experience for children. The music curriculum makes learning so much fun. Definitely a great place for kids!

I wish I could write a positive review for Rock and Roll Daycare, but it doesn't seem as if anyone answers the phone ever. I have tried to coordinate a tour of the facilities for the past month, but I think the enrollment specialist Phoebe only checks her email once a week. We emailed last month to request a tour a few days in advance of the date, and then received an answer after the date that we wanted to tour the facilities. This month, we emailed to request a tour a week in advance and she responded a week and a day later. So if you need to schedule a tour make sure to email two weeks in advance and pray for a response before your requested tour date. In any case, I don't think I want to send my child to a daycare where no one picks up the phone, and they respond to emails sporadically. It is really important for staff to be accessible, and if it is this difficult to set up a tour, then I can only imagine how responsive they are when you are actually more invested. What's more, I requested the pricing for part-time enrollment in writing two times. My question was ignored the first time. The second time I was sent a link that only had pricing for full-time enrollment. My partner then took over correspondence with the enrollment specialist and pointed out that she sent the wrong information and requested the correct information. No response. If they cannot even communicate facts as straightforward as rates, then I really wonder how on earth they communicate with children who are developing their communication skills.

Montessori and Music are the two focal points of this center. My child had a great experience here. Teachers were caring and knowledgeable, and my son had a lot of fun coming to school each day. I really liked the music events, which happen pretty frequently. Meal program was a nice bonus as well.

I never got a chance to have my infant son stay at this daycare so I cannot comment on the quality of the place and the teachers. I was very interested in having my baby stay at this daycare due to its very convenient location (a 5 min walk from my apartment) and its music and Montessori-based programs. Unfortunately, I have been very disappointed by my interaction with their administrative staff and their lack of interest in my questions and concerns. My husband and I put down our names for their infant waiting list in September 2014, while I was just 2-month pregnant. As brand new parents, we didn’t know what we wanted and what we were looking for, but we knew that infant spots are sparse in Cambridge and that we couldn’t afford to be too picky. By the time my son turned 12 weeks old, I had to return to work and still didn’t get one of their infant spots. Fortunately, we had a plan B, which turned out to work great for us. Yet, we were still interested in Rock n Roll, so I emailed their assistant director, Jandra, to request a tour, just to ensure that it still met our needs in the event that we got a spot. While waiting to hear back from her, my husband and I decided to directly stop by the daycare to see if we could just request an appointment in person. We ran into the director, Nicole, who was very friendly. She told us that it wasn’t a good time at that moment to offer a tour because it was the busiest time of the day for them, but when she heard that my work hours were inflexible, she encouraged me to go ahead and schedule an off-hour tour and explain the situation to the assistant director. So I emailed Jandra, but never got a response, so I called her directly. She responded that they were too busy to offer off-hour tours but could still make an exception later when things quiet down a bit for them. That was back in June.Early September, I emailed her again and asked once again if they could make an exception to their tour days/hours. She responded a couple of days later in a sharp tone (and several typos in her email) that tours were only given in the morning hours. My next day off being a Friday at the end of the month, I replied and offered that day as an option. A few days later she responded that she couldn’t do tours that day either because she had "meetings all day". We never heard back from Rock and Roll since then.At this point, I have given up. I find it odd that a daycare would only offer tours on specific days and hours with no flexibility, even when scheduling several weeks in advance. I also wonder why only one person seems to do the tours? (perhaps only trained personnel is allowed to give tours?) Rock and Roll claims that it is a family-owned, hence friendly daycare, but so far, I was only given the impression of an unfriendly place with a corporate-feel that has so much business that it doesn’t care to make any efforts in accommodating wait-listed families.Again, I cannot comment on the quality of the care and I do hope for parents that it is a great place for their kids. But as far as I am concerned, I am not interested anymore. I guess that long waiting list was a blessing in disguise.
