“The Harwich Antiques Center consists of two buildings. One is a heated open space where various dealers have space to sell their finds. Another is a barn that is filled with items that didn't sell and are still looking for a home.

The heated space is carefully organized. You will find items hanging, shelved, and resting on the floor. If you look up, side to side, or down, there are interesting pieces of history. Some of the items are harder-to-find curiosities which include some artifacts from the whaling industry that dominated the Southern Massachusetts area in previous centuries. The salespeople are highly knowledgeable about the complexities of these artifacts. It was eye opening and educational.

The barn, which was next to the heated building, held items that didn't sell as well. There was furniture, antique tools, vinyl records, and more. The barn had cheaper and more common items, but do not ignore the potential of the things sold here!

We had a conversation with the salesperson and it made the shopping a lot more lively and engaging! I recommend coming here while on your vacation in Cape Cod. It is a fascinating place.”

“Charming shop with very knowledgeable staff. Have driven by for years, finally went in to look for a map of Chatham. Was shown several different options (at different price points). Made my selection, and took up the offer of their framing service (very convenient) and a few short weeks later, was enjoying my piece. They have a LOT of inventory and beyond maps. Definitely worth a visit!”

“Wayne's the real deal. And the antiques are the real deal - or he tells you immediately when they're not (i.e. high quality replicas). I can't tell you how many awesome pieces I have acquired from Wayne over the years. He really knows his stuff inside and out, he is NEVER over-priced, and I learn something fascinating about 18th, 19th or early 20th century craftsmanship every time I visit. Everything from 19th C. German-made grandfather clocks (that keep time to within a second a week!) , and antique toys, to glass and jewelry, and fine art and china to lanterns and tools.”

“Good selections of vinyl records besides their antiques. This is my second time to shop here for the vinyls. Reasonably priced records for the least famed artists. Some of the vinyls had protective coverings on them but some did not at a lesser price.”

“The owner Peter has been at this location for 61 years. Surprised they aren't on Yelp, so perhaps they do not need advertisements as they do well without . They carry a bevy of teacup saucer sets including Royal Standard, Staffordshire, Alberto, etc. , license plates from other states, antique jewelry, a real gem of a find right on Main St Chatham next to an espresso coffee shop.”

“My fiancé and I stopped here on a whim, and this wound up being one of our top antique stores of our whole vacation! We fell in love with the I-Spy feeling of constantly turning around to see something new, and the owner knew the details behind every object he had acquired there. He was kind and fair, and we wish him the best this summer and beyond!”

“I do love this store. I spend quite a bit of money in there on a regular basis. What I don't love is listening to the employee discuss politics with customers. I shop to escape. I don't enjoy going in to a store and listening to political gibberish.”

“We antiqued, thrifted, and picked our way around the mid-cape and Vintage Trader's was by far our favorite of the trip!

The owner was so chill and she had such a great variety of estate and costume jewelry, antiques, collectibles, and even curated and vintage clothes!

We will definitely be back!”

“Beautiful - wish it was bigger! High-quality, clean items. Lovely shop.Oddly, I found the lighting and lamps super overpriced. +$100 for small table lamps, but pretty affordable solid wood furniture.”

“Go in. The exterior may be unassuming, but they have a really nice selection of high-quality pieces inside, at good prices. I got some beautiful art-deco kitchen stuff that will bring a lot of cheer to my home.”

“Friendly owner. Disclaimer - I know very little abt antiques. That said, there were many small / decorative items of silver and glass (including a very interesting collection of silver candy molds), a few small books, and some wooden/painted statues from 19th c. Please see pics. Furniture includes beautiful, well cared for pieces, including a table and a ?secretary? from 1810.Layout was easily navigable and pleasant. My chief issue, really, is the pricing, which seems quite high, even given the area. Suggest bringing your haggling boots or just coming for a browse, unless there is something here you really can't find elsewhere (and there quite well may be), and you really can't live without it.”

“Eldred’s is a treasured cape cod institution. Their service always impresses me and the remarkable range quality of items here is difficult to find anywhere else locally. Maritime art and Asian art seem to be two areas of specialty, and their last sales of scrimshaw and netsuke were eye-opening experiences for me even as a non-buyer. They’ve never failed to return a call or answer the most left-field or arbitrary question, and they’ve helped me appraise items locally that I’d otherwise have to drive to Boston with. The staff are friendly and they know what they’re doing, and they’ve been very flexible with me when I’ve failed to pick purchases up on time.”
