I wanted to reopen a new checking account with this bank. However, had an old checking account that had a very, very small balance owed on it. I paid the balance as instructed. The bank staff member doesn’t seem like she knows what she is doing or greatly lacks confidence.
Because instead of reading the notes her colleagues left in my account verifying the payment was made she is repeatedly asking if I paid it. Then later states I was good to open the account but I needed to put down a small amount to start the process. Within 10 minutes of waiting she then tells me that I am unable to open the checking account. Because there’s another balance I need to pay off from a different bank. Ok fine again it’s a very small amount. Her customer service skills need a huge deal of work.
After looking at the reviews online and my experience dealing with both at this location along with the one over by market street. I think I’m just going to go elsewhere. Also where’s the diversity in this bank? I see a lot of hispanics working there and at the market street location. I am mixed race, part hispanic but where’s the diversity here at Eastern Bank???
Looks like a bit of nepotism going on here.

No matter which Easter Bank you go to, you will always find the ATMs damaged, out of service. Etc... many times you have to withdraw emergency money and ATMs are useless, waste of time. We have to leave this bank but now.

This Bank is A Broke bank. 2 years ago I got charged for a account that person didnt have access to but then any company like T-Mobile can come & chrage the your card even tho YOU TOLD THE BANK NOT TO AUTHORIZE ANY ANY ANY COMPANIES UNLESS I HAVE FUNDS Because I can have my phone bill & don’t mind for it to be shut off when I can pay it later even when changing cards! I call the 800 number and I come to the banks myself physically & why did you guys wait 2 years to tell me & deny my teenager an account over a balance that could of been taking care of when funds did process in my account because you guys are quick to take the charge tho but didn’t take what was needed that’s crazy. I never got a letter also changing my address so this was a great dodge the bullet because my teen don’t need this stress lwck of communication when it comes to owing money broke A & they kept my 0.06 cents Sophie do a better job. Me & my mom will be going to another bank. As well as my family
0 STARS 0 STARS THIS BANK IS NO GOOD LOOK AT THE REVIEWS BROKE BANK.

Horrendous change to their new system. New system is Sooooo much worse than the old system. Makes the customer make that many more hoops to jump through. Even their customer service reps are in agreement that it has been a disaster. New system is next to useless.

My mom had a checking and savings account with Eastern for years. After she passed away, they informed me they had to lock the accounts, so I stopped all auto-payments from the accounts, went to the Natick branch with a death certificate and closed her accounts. Months later I started getting bills and late fees because an auto-payment was paid out against a 0 balance account, so now we have an over-draft loan. I told them it was an unauthorized payment against a CLOSED account. After 30 minutes on the phone with their customer service, they said the accounts were not closed and they had no record of the death certificate, so I should go back to the branch with another death certificate. I told them the nearest branch was 40 minutes away and they needed to sort it out. She said she'd explain to her supervisor who would call me. Never happened. A couple weeks later I called in again and explained the situation. Again it took 30 minutes of holds and connects, but this time they had found the record of the certificate, but could not close the accounts because of the debt. She was nice and said she'd explain it to her supervisor who would call me to resolve. Again, never happened, so I wrote the story up in the online support portal. The response: they'll call to resolve. Never happens. I do get a call every 2 weeks from their collections department. I explain the story. They look up the notes, apologize, and agree someone from the customer service department is supposed to call. So the loop continues and I still get bills with increased late payments.

Unless you know Courtney is working the drive thru, go inside of the bank. When the 2nd car in line, it shouldn't take 15 minutes. If the cause is a customer, who doesn't have their crap together, they should be told to go inside.
