Great park in Newton

One of the nicest parks you will ever visit. During the fall months it is a crisp cool and the leaves are beautiful. It's actually much larger than you think it is and there you can spend hours walking around here. When I was younger I used to play soccer here and when I got older I would go here for afternoon walks with my now wife.

Absolutely terrific, very large, park that's great for both families looking to play sports or nature lovers wanting to escape the city-esque Newton! Just sitting on one of the many benches and listening to the birds chirping was very serene and beautiful. Ate my lunch there, it was very peaceful and not too many people either.
I've also been here with Newton Conservator's Invasive Pulls so highly reccommend to residents! Get involved in your community and give back to our natural parks 💞
Amenities: 3 tennis courts, 4 basketball courts, a very large soccer field, and softball field with a willow tree! Also an exercise structure which i thought was neat. In June-October Newton's weekly farmers markets take place, I've personally never been, but I'd suggest to people passing by to make a pit-stop if you can.
Also upon entering, spotted their pollinator garden which was really cool-- and Green Newton's sustainability tic-tac-toe board 😉

Highlights - Definitely a great walking loop in convenient proximity to town. Wide walking paths help avoid all potential tick exposures. Mostly under shade of trees, so cool on a hot day. There is a fantastic, open grassy area within Cold Spring is dedicated as a dog park. Always easy to find parking. Weekly summer farmer's market there. Tennis and basketball courts, workout equipment as well as a large soccer field.
Drawbacks - gets a little muddy after wet weather. Also, one area of the walking loop has a somewhat steep dirt path which may be challenging for elderly walkers.
Overall a favorite walk in Newton.
Edit - A local Eagle Scout created stairs to make the steep part of the loop more accessible to all.

The trails around Cold Springs Park offer a wonderful experience for outdoor enthusiasts. I regularly enjoy walking there, as it provides an excellent environment for dog walking or a refreshing hike, whether solo or with family and friends. It's both family-friendly and dog-friendly, which is a great advantage. For dog owners, there's a small dog park conveniently located nearby, accessible via the trails. Additionally, the trails feature mile markers with QR codes that link directly to maps of the route, making navigation easy and straightforward. Overall, it's a beautiful area for a pleasant outdoor outing!

Beautiful park. Parking at this entry point was less than desirable. I got confused and drove through the gate. Apparently no cars are allowed. A kind man told me parking is on the road before entering. But not at the end of the road prior to the gate. I’ll have to return when I’m more physically able as the hill after the gate was too much to tackle, so I sat on the side of the road and watched all the dog walkers pass by. Presumably there is handicap access at another park entry point.

This is a great local park with simple trails, minimal incline areas, a dog park, a few fields (soccer) tennis courts, water ponds and streams.
The trails and park is well kept with a few muddy areas during the rainy seasons. It's been wetter than usual the last few seasons so there's an accumulation of water along the trail from flooding. Worth note to bring some waterproof boots or shoes if you can for the rainy days but that's part of nature.
The dog park is popular with friendly dogs always coming through throughout the day. Everyone cleans up pretty well so there's not poo everywhere.
There is also plenty of parking in the main entrance, and there are farmers markets during the warmer seasons on Saturdays.
Recommend for all, old to young.
