“Every single time I’ve consciously made the effort to support local small businesses and do my home improvement shopping here I’m left smiling! The customer service alone, making actual eye-contact with a helpful associate who asked ME if I needed help is always a far cry from having to wander aimlessly around like “walker” out of The Walking Dead looking for help finding a 3/8” nut! The store is always so welcoming, the front doors propped-open for fresh air, the great job they do setting up the goods for display, and there are always a hundred other little things I want to pick up while looking around! But let’s talk real talk…..how can you beat the Benjamin Moore quality, selection, and ease of work with? And how much easier is it really to just swing into the parking lot 50’ from the entrance and not have to worry about the hustle-bustle of the orange madness or the blue lagoon!?.
This store is a comforting presence whenever I have any home improvement ideas, issues, or emergencies. The owners are salt of the Earth folks with kids of their own and I always enjoy spending a few extra minutes at the end of my purchases talking with them. I go there for EVERYTHING from a light bulb, to a rake, to all of my paint! I’ve also witnessed them many times consulting with, answering questions, and offering their expertise in an excited and friendly manner with customers on bigger projects they were taking on! It’s so simple and it SHOULD come easy but it’s such a lost “thing” in our present time. Go here!”

“Dracut Hardware is my go to store for anything I need for my house or outdoors in my yard. The staff and Dave are always welcoming and helpful if I am looking for something , and 99.9% of the time, they have what I’m looking for. I recommend this store over the big box stores for any hardware items or things for your yard.”
“I came in last week looking for a lot of different things, everywhere from cleaning products, to specific size hardware. I figured I’d be looking around the store the aimlessly, but no. An employee, I believe he told me his name was Jake, helped me find everything, despite the store being somewhat busy.”
“From the retail store to the drive thru yard, everyone was so friendly and helpful.
Stopped in this morning for some ice melt after a big box store once again let me down and faked to deliver to my home. I was warmly greeted by the folks behind the counter and we had a great chat about some upcoming projects I’m planning. The cashier walked me through the process for collecting my 150# of ice melt via their drive thru lumber yard.
It was my first time shopping there and accidentally went down the wrong lane in the drive thru but everyone was kind and gracious- I was so embarrassed & worried I was going to get the standard New England style scolding for my oversight. But the gentleman who assisted me with loading my ice melt and the cashier were both so lovely- thank you for that.
I am done with the big box home improvement stores and will be shopping here from now on!”

“I had a very specific request for a nut and bolt (to fix a blade on my hockey skate) and the staff inside this Ace Hardware store couldn’t have been more helpful. It was a $0.30 fix but the associate, Mark, spent the time with me to make sure that I was all set, found the right size to fit and even helped me fix my skate. If that’s not above and beyond for service I don’t know what is. Thank you!!”
“I needed an inducer fan for my Goodman furnace . I called the company that I bought the furnace from, but for some stupid reason they could not get the part for me. “I can't say enough good things about this hardware store. Unlike Lowe's or Home Depot, there's always knowledgeable staff available to answer any questions or to assist customers as needed. All of the staff are absolutely amazing and have always gone above and beyond, in my opinion. I've been there on countless occasions with a million questions or having absolutely no idea how to do something, yet somehow still always manage to leave with all the stock required and have been advised as to the best way to get the job completed. I won't go anywhere else.”

“A model for what a local hardware store should be. Staffed by a mix of adults who know exactly how to help you. They also employ local kids who are usually pretty helpful, though they are just teenagers so manage your expectations! They are kids working a first job, and I see a lot of people (both in the store and on Yelp) mistake inexperience with rudeness. Selection is good for a local place, though more niche items may require a trip to a larger place. Importantly, they do not carry much of anything in terms of wood and lumber, though they have a decent power tool section, including Craftsman, Milwaukee, and Stihl. Painting, plumbing, hand tools, grilling, house care, yard care, and screws are examples of the areas they cover pretty well. Value is good as well, matching or beating that of places like Lowes or HD, and Ace is a local mainstay.”

She is very seasoned and knowledgeable about all of the products. I have future renovations coming up as well and will be working solely with Mary Ann for those renovations. “This year's (2023) quality of pellet fuel is very good.One thing has really improved. Everyone asks if you need help. I bought extra wood pellets dye cold weather after burning 2 tons. These were inferior wood pellets @$6 a bag. It leaves an odor not normally associated with hardwood which is what it was indicated on the bag to be. Finding a cart to load them on was not easy. It may be time to buy next winters supply from your regular supplier. If you can locate the quality at last year's price with an increase in delivery I suggest you do it. If was another product I'd give them 4 stars but product brings it down a notch. It's an annoying odor that leaves your throat scratchy. It's not COVID.”

“People will complain about the retail service here, but this ain't HD or Lowes, it's a supply house. If you need a 2x12 and don't want to burn an hour driving to HD in Waltham and back, they're great. The hours however are limited, since they service contractors.
That said, while I might have to wait or try to get someone's attention, I've always gotten what I needed here from paint to lumber to propane tank refills all while supporting a local shop rather than sending the money to a mega corp.”
“Chelmsford Lumber team provided high quality service including structure engineer consultation, on-time delivery and return proecss. I would especially appreciate the engineer, Matt Rimkus, who helped me calculate the structure and materials timely as requested, and patiently answered my questions. His professional serivce made me finally decide to purchase all materials through Chelmford lumber. Furthermore, the salesperson, Shaun in the store also provided an excellent service in delivery and return of the orders. In overall, i believe that this company is well managed and trusted. Their price is very fair and competitive to others.Just one thing to be improved is to state more clearly the return policy of special orders as customers place an order.”
“Friend to the rescue! This is probably the third or forth project where our contractor forgot to get materials or obtained the wrong sizes. A call to Friend Lumber has almost always been the solution. Their materials are quality, their knowledge is tops, their staff is professional, and the guys who deliver are just great. We always buy here if we can for our DIY homeowner projects, but they have also been responsive to our last minute needs when contractors muck up. They have been great about getting materials to us fast, and letting us know when it just can't be done. We find their prices competitive. We will keep buying here whenever we can.”
