Ok, sometimes I feel like I am on candid camera when I'm in line for checkout. There's a clerk, Helen, that is a perpetual complainer, loudly..."of course I am not happy, I am cashier in a grocery store!" Overheard while checking out in the next line over. This is usual behavior for Helen. She's kind of a major character!! My clerk was totally opposite however, barely able to make eye contact whilst the bag guy was the happiest and most organized person ever! I'm retired and not in any hurry so I find it all amazing and fun! And I love Shaws!

We shopped here a few times during an extended stay in town. First, the good: beautiful produce, huge (wide) selection in all departments, the store appears to be extremely clean. The *shopping" is great! The bad: checkout. My goodness -- checkout is a horror show!!! Management: you need to 1)staff the checkouts ADEQUATELY and 2)inform your checkout staff that badmouthing customers is not cool. On point 1: having ONE checkout open at 5:30 PM on a BUSY weekday afternoon, with 6-8 shoppers with loaded carts lined up behind the SINGLE open checkout, with a growing line, is VERY POOR SERVICE! Having your "junior" or "assistant" or "under" manager STANDING AT A PODIUM literally DOING NOTHING while this is happening is EVEN WORSE! Multiple customers approached that person and POLITELY asked if more registers could be opened - he answered no every single time. Were his fingers broken? Too lazy to open a register? On point 2: on a busy Friday mid-day shopping trip, the two open registers were incredibly busy and clearly the checkout staff were frazzled. However, that doesn't mean they should be name-calling the customers. We felt sorry for the checkout staff -- they apparently hadn't had their breaks and were exhausted -- again, this is a MANAGEMENT problem!!!!! So, MANAGEMENT, the recommendation is that you PAY ATTENTION to what is happening at the FRONT of the store. And DON'T ASSUME that everyone wants to do self-checkout. UNLESS and UNTIL you provide DEEP DISCOUNTS to shoppers for CHECKING OUT their own groceries and BAGGING their own groceries (i.e. DOING THE JOBS THAT YOU SHOULD BE HIRING FOR!), we and MOST others won't be availing ourselves of self-checkout at your store, or any other. PLUS, self-checkout DEPRIVES people of jobs who need them. You have what -- at least EIGHT -- registers at the front? STAFF THEM!!!!!!! And by the way, this year is not the first year we've encountered these types of problems at this specific location -- we have been visiting Orleans at least twice each year for the last 10 years and encounter problems with lack of open registers *every* time we shop at this store.

Busy at 3:30 on a cloudy summer day when the beach forecast wasn't promising, rain expected any moment and traffic on the roadways was heavy.Despite lines at the check-outs, they moved quickly because SHAW'S had thrm staffed with checkers and baggers.

Solid supermarket with excellent seafood section and absolutely anything you want or need. Lots of choices. Clean and well managed from my perspective.

Great fresh produce, and it is much easier to navigate than stop and shop. Employees are very friendly.

It's a suoermarjet chain. Some things are cheaoer than the comoetition, sime more expensive. Some items are carried here and not there and vise versa. Generally I find super markets similar, and I shop here at Shaws and also at Stop and Shop at the other end of town.

The store had what we needed. But the people working there were cranky and rude. Borderline hostile. Not what we were expecting at all and very different from all other grocery stores I've even been in.

Today was a very bad day at ShawsI placed $53 of items in my cart so that I could receive the $5 credit in this week's online promotion...I was encouraged last week to sign up for the New Health Program...and I did sign up. earning at least $15 of credits that do not expire for quite a while.Shaws applied my $15 health program credits against my groceries paid for with SNAP....and The Customer Service Agent said I did not purchase the $50 necessary to get the $5 credit.I asked her to fix it.She said she could not..I suggested that she void my order and let me buy another $12 of Groceries. (To requalify for the $5 off.)She said that she could not do that and she gave me a number to call...@ corporate...She would not call for me and work it out right there with all the paperwork before us.I am not feeling very good about the Health Program right now that had me stressed out while in the Store...with really poor customer service.So..the Lesson...Too many loop holes to let Big Grocery Weasle out of Promotions....So Bag the Health Program....too much Stress. So This Senior Citizen will Return to Shop & Shop more often: first stop in the future .

I come here to recycle plastic bags and film. There are bins in the alcove where the aluminum can recycling machine is. It's very helpful. The store is usually too crowded for my tastes so I get groceries elsewhere. But the other store doesn't have plastic bag recycling.

I go to this store a lot and the employees at the deli or stocking produce are very helpful when I try to find items for a shopping app I’ve been doing to make ends meet. Good quality items and well organized. I usually go to self checkout when delivering for the gig economy, but when I do my own shopping, I go to the checkout with a cashier. I sincerely wish the cashiers would be more efficient and not insist on engaging in long conversations with everyone in line. Some people are there to buy groceries and leave and are not there to hear about a cashier’s personal problems or pets. My own mother won’t go to this location anymore because she gets stuck in checkout leaving to listen to a cashier talk to her about some inane topic like gardening or potentially traveling to Bermuda. I understand that working as a cashier is lonely and that this is a vacation town, but there are people who really do have schedules and appointments and don’t have time to listen to the cashier take 10 minutes telling people in front of you about her personal life and then wait another 10 minutes to buy 6 things because the cashier is reminiscing about a family vacation. These are really conversations that an employee should be having off the clock. Please work on training your cashiers to me more efficient

Store is clean and organized. Anything you need, they probably have it here. Friendly staff, the bakery staff attendant Kevin was very friendly and eager to help us. The service is the best, food selection is wonderful and good sales. You can’t go wrong with Shaws!
