“While it’s often said that Disney World is the “happiest place on earth,” since joining Sharon Country Club six years ago, I now respectfully and with a smile beg to differ. SCC, as we members affectionately call it, isn’t just a golf course. It is a full blown community of people who enjoy golf, but absolutely LOVE having a great time.

Like any great community, the members of SCC come from all walks of life. Different backgrounds, different professions, different skill levels and very different golf swings. But we all have one thing in common. We genuinely enjoy being there. Whether it is a competitive round, a casual nine, or just showing up for a drink and some laughs, there is always something going on and usually someone chirping you about that last putt you definitely should have made.

And let’s talk about the course. It is beautifully maintained and deceptively challenging. Do not let the nine hole layout fool you into thinking it is some kind of par three executive course on steroids, because it is not. This track will test you, humble you, and occasionally make you question your life choices, which of course is exactly what good golf is supposed to do.

Beyond the course, we have a newer clubhouse that is just six years old and really brings people together. The food is great, the drinks are even better, and the atmosphere makes it easy to stay just one more hour, which as many of us know rarely means one more hour. With the recent addition of three outdoor flat screen TVs, there is now an even better excuse to stick around, catch a game, and enjoy a perfect day or night with great people.

At the end of the day, SCC is not just a place to play golf. It is a place to connect, unwind, and have a hell of a good time. And if that is not the happiest place on earth, it is a pretty strong contender, especially since my Space Mountain days are long behind me.”
