Artisan's Asylum is a community fabrication workshop that provides the space, tools, and community for unfettered creativity. The organization's mission is to advance the learning, practice, and culture of do-it-yourself (DIY) fabrication, striving to provide anyone with access to the tools and training necessary to develop creative confidence and build the things they love. The facility offers a wide range of tools and machinery, including laser cutting machines, CNC plasma cutters, and equipment for traditional arts and crafts like painting, drawing, and screen printing, as well as more technical skills like welding and woodworking. Visitors can take classes, rent workspaces, and even rent storage spaces to keep their projects and supplies. The Artisan's Asylum community is described as welcoming and enthusiastic, with people of all skill levels learning, sharing, and working on projects together. Instructors are knowledgeable and patient, creating a supportive environment for participants to explore their creativity. While the facility may be a bit pricey, many users feel it is worth the investment to have access to such a well-equipped and vibrant creative space.
It’s too expensive and a bit of a work in progress but it’s a pretty well equipped makerspace and it’s in Boston. So that alone makes it 5 star.
