“I like shopping at thrift stores and do that whenever I can, to help a good cause, help the planet, find one-of-a-kind pieces, save money, too, and also that I can feel brave enough when altering some clothing pieces to best fit me, while I am not a professional tailor, knowing that the financial risk is not a lot. Recently, during a family trip to Boston, having about an hour to spare before the hotel check-in, I thought to enter this Goodwill and I was extremely pleasantly surprised! Not only did I find very nice, high-quality pieces in excellent condition, at a great price, but the selection was plentiful. This place has quickly become one of my favorites, although it is not close-by and I might not be able to go again. Thank you!”

“So many adorable handmade art pieces made by small businesses owners. The clothes and shoes were also so well organized it made it easy to find your size and desired piece. Love this place <33”

“super cute atmosphere and kind staff! Not your average thrift shop, expect boutique/ reseller pricing. I liked their sunglasses. Didn't buy but if you a spare $50 it can get you one shirt.”

“I’ve been getting a specialty soap from another vendor for years when they suddenly said it wasn’t available. I found the same item on BGS, better price, quick shipping. I’ll definitely use them again. Liked my interaction.”

“Wiley was great in finding an item and shipping to my home in North Carolina after a pop up event at Faneuil Hall Market. Tremendous communication and reasonable shipping expense. Would highly recommend.”

“I've ALWAYS said 40 South has the BEST vintage in Boston-and an impressively extensive mens collection (which is hard to find). I myself am glad to also indulge in the ladies section-and a caftan or two from 40 South is part of my Summer and vacation wardrobe! SO glad to have an old school vintage shop in town. ON, and di I mention the mens vest collection?!?!?!? Get them while they're hot!”

“Initially came here for the library, but this place is super good! Super clean, and well organized. Finally found place to donate my children’s clothes!”

“Wonderful shop with many fabulous pieces -- I adore vintage floral skirts with stretchy waistbands and basically live in them during the summer and I've bought a few of them from We Thieves and they're all fantastic. They do an excellent job at curation and I always find a gem.”

“Third time I'm and all three times have been 5 star reviews. Went during a sale and so many great things! Even when it's not a sale, it's just so cool to know the money is going towards a small business and other parents. I've also sold to them and it was such an easy process, definitely recommend signing up for email alerts!”

“Wonderful consignment shop.
I also consign with them and have a good experience. If you use your consignment money toward buying clothes there, you get a percentage off.

My only suggestion is I wish they had more classic staple clothing items like solid color shirts and dresses.”

“Closet Connection is one of my favorite places to shop. The owner is absolutely amazing and has helped me find several incredible gifts for my wife through her personal shopping recommendations. Every single time I come in, I walk out with something she loves, it never fails.

The selection is fantastic, with beautiful, unique pieces you don’t find anywhere else, and everything is in great condition. What really sets this store apart is the personalized service. The owner genuinely takes the time to understand what you’re looking for and makes shopping easy and enjoyable.

I can’t recommend Closet Connection enough if you’re looking for great finds and exceptional customer service.”

“Awesome store with a wide variety of styles, priced reasonably. Many Designer handbags, watches, clothing. Helpful salespeople and it’s always a must to stop in when you are on Charles Street .”

“I like to shop second-hand first if I need something. Over the years, I’ve found a few good options here, especially for work out clothes. I’ve also consigned some clothes. I personally don’t go in for designer items, but if you’re looking for that, they have some selection.”

“Amazing selection of quality clothing! I haven’t seen a Brunello jacket since Italy and it was beautiful! They even had mink coats! I have no use for mink, but was amazed to see them here! The owner was friendly, or at least I thought she was the owner. She has a wide selection of jewelry also. The stairs up are noisy and uneven, so be careful, but worth the climb.”

“Rick was in the store so nice to be able to get service and talk to a grown man who can look you in the eye and have a conversation without needing a phone in his hand”

“A rather well organized store… The toys/books section is quite huge compared to other locations I had visited. I have to say some jackets are quite expensive like $30 a piece which isn’t really justified - they look like 1950s jackets but were in fact made in the 70s or later…”

“This is a great consignment store. Very clean and well organized with a good variety of nice clothing. Very reasonable prices. The staff is really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!”

“I love this place, the staff is great, the clothing is organized by sizing, color.
I will have one complaint: if you’ll open the bathroom for the public some will spend more time and more money in the store.”

“I started shopping here in '88. Those were my Vintage days. Then grunge and finally goth. They had EVERYTHING.I was so young / 19 - 20. I usually went to Oona's during my vintage days. It was costly as a teen though. Garment District was one of the only places I would shop 'cause they always had the correct clothing for my alternative -- grunge--goth days as well as appropriate items for work. That was so many decades ago. I miss it. It's huge & they had anything I wanted. iNo need to go to NYC!”

“This place is amazing! The prices are very cheap and reasonable, and the clothes are quality. The customer service is also outstanding, and the employees seem to be friendly and really care about what they are doing. 10/10 experience, would recommend.”

“This antique market is huge! You can easily spend an afternoon wandering around all the different booths. There’s a great variety of vintage items, furniture, decor, and lots of unique finds. I ended up buying a few pieces I wasn’t even planning to get. Staff was friendly and the overall vibe is super fun. Highly recommend for anyone who loves digging for good vintage.”

“Must go to spot if you’re in the Boston area!!!

I don’t usually write reviews but after my phenomenal experience this weekend I just had to!

I’ve been to this store multiple times before and have always picked out something awesome to bring home with me! I visited again a few days ago and as always, the staff was wonderful! The person working, Raphael (sorry if I spelled your name wrong!) was so helpful and really went above and beyond for my fiancé and I!

My fiancé picked out multiple deadstock button ups and I picked out the wedding dress of my dreams: a gorgeous bias cut 1930s gown. I am so beyond thrilled!

This store has always been a go to spot for me whenever I’m in Cambridge. I seriously cannot say enough wonderful things about this place. Every time I go, I just have so much fun. Even if you’re not looking for a gown like I was, there’s truly something there for everyone! Vintage tees, fur and leather coats, suits, accessories, literally everything!!

Given its long history, beautiful curation, and passionate staff, it’s a truly special place.”

“The salvation army in Central square in Cambridge on Massachusetts avenue health helped a lot of people throughout the long years that they have been there in that location. I have never stayed there overnight but I have occasionally had need of a shower which they were able to accommodate and a meal from time and time and a couple times during my laundry when I didn't have any money to do them,, don't let your pride get in the way of getting some help from a place like salvation army!! You need to call at 6:00 a.m. the same day to reserve a bed if they have any if you need a place to sleep for the night. If you're going to be staying there I recommend trying to get a bed as close as possible to staff as possible, do not have any loose belongings on you when you go there as they might get stolen, if we have something of value keep it under your shirt or coat or sweater and tie it to you securely before you go to sleep..”

“I recommend shopping at Salvation Army. The store always cheaper. For example, you can buy the t-shirt at $3 or $5. You can buy beautiful clothes and furnitures. Also, the customer service is friendly and helpful. The store is near my house. I can take the bus. For these reasons, you should shop at Salvation Army. You get the best value for your money there.”

“This Goodwill is my go-to. They have excellent quality control, cleanliness, and very friendly folks working there.
Goodwill’s new “no changing rooms” policy post-Covid is a bummer. Wear a tank top and leggings and they don’t mind if you try things on over your base layers.”
