H&R Block lost us over $8,000 dollars because they bungled our taxes so badly. They acknowledged that they made egregious errors but haven’t been able to fix it in the last 3 years. THREE YEARS. We get passed around from associate to associate doing the same steps over and over again without them ever being able to remedy their mistake. We end up doing most of the legwork. It’s so ridiculous that it would be funny if it wasn’t costing us over 8k. Please do yourself a favor and avoid H&R Block at all costs. 0/5 stars

To start off, let me say I have had my taxes done at H&R block for years and been satisfied. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. We sent our preparer all the information March 13th and, after following up ourselves many times, finally filed the day before they are due. We had poor communication with our preparer the whole process, and every step took longer than initially stated. To top it all off, somehow the price is twice as much as I have paid in the past. Very disappointed - I could have gotten better service from a computer program.

First impression: an unprofessional outfit. I made an appointment and showed up on time, but there was no one at the front desk, and the tax analyst I made the appointment with wasn't there either. I hope they do taxes better than appointments.

I worked with Mark Hanford. He emailed me for information, I replied, and then heard nothing back. Emailed for confirmation twice and there was still no reply. I went in to talk to someone and they said that he didn't answer being "he left," even though I emailed him over a course of a week or so. Then the man that was in the office didn't really know how to use the computer and I had to show him how. Considering the services provided, I feel that paying $315 is unreasonable. The door says "walk ins welcome" but there's only one or two people in the office at a time, and they usually have appointments so you can't count on being helped if you do walk-in. There is very little trust in this particular H&R Block.

My “tax specialist” seemed to not know much beyond the basics of tax returns. She first calculated I would be getting a $4,000 refund when I actually owed $40,000 making her calculations off by a mere $44,000. This mistake was only caught before filing because I pointed it out to her. She also made mistakes on other forms that I had to request she fix. Additionally, there were mistakes I didn’t catch because I was notified by the IRS that I had overpaid taxes by around $400. A very frustrating experience which I paid $300 for and that probably took longer than filing myself.

I visited H&R Block on the last day - 4/17/2024. I was warmly welcomed with a smile by Vera who very quickly found a tax pro that would take me as a walk-in. I wasn’t even seated when Audrey Doyle introduced herself, also with a smile and welcomed me to her area. Very quickly Audrey identified missing tax documents that could help me and informed me as to how to obtain them. I returned an hour later to Audrey who was excited that I was able to retrieve the documents so quickly and she began my paperwork. Audrey was not only friendly, but patient, kind and had a great personality. In the end, my submission was perfect due to Audrey being so knowledgeable and asking the right questions. Audrey and Verna made doing taxes enjoyable and I look forward seeing them next year.
Thank you both! I will never go anywhere other than Audrey Doyle at H&R Block, Waltham location.

We have worked with our H&R Block tax preparer for several years and we are incredibly grateful for her expertise, orientation to detail, great communication and personal touch. Though we live in a neighboring state, we continue to work with her and hope we'll never need to find another.
