I have been a customer of Claire Murray's stores and online stores for many years. I own several rugs, and I have made several from rug kits. I recently emailed the store about exchanging a kit which I received for a Christmas present. I was told that the rug kits are a "small side business" and they are concentrating on the pre-made rugs. I was told to take my business somewhere else. This was from "Julie." Last summer, I emailed with someone from the store who told me that they could do just about anything I requested. I am disgusted by Julie's response. It is completely inappropriate. I would not recommend dealing with this store if this is their attitude. Arrogance does not make good customer service.

How this company is still in business is mind boggling. They are purportedly in the business of selling rugs but seem to try their hardest to do anything but. I have never had a retailer make it so challenging and unappealing to work with. My wife and I chased them for months trying to order a rug from them and we consistently were given the run around and excuse after excuse why they didn't get back to us, why they dropped the ball, why they didn't have simple answers to simple questions etc etc. Their staff would defer to the manager, the manager to the owner and so on. The store owner is completely disinterested in selling rugs and never once returned one of our multiple messages and could have cared less about our plight to simply purchase a rug that they couldn't figure out was in stock or not and what was the correct price. The company's pricing model is akin to airline tickets. Every time you check their site their prices are fluctuating. Our miserable experience culminated on black Friday when we saw the same rug we were trying to get for months show as in stock and on sale yet again. We called to say we wanted to buy it and the lady said she would get back to us in a few minutes to confirm it was indeed in stock. As usually they did not follow up. We called back that weekend and spoke to the manager. She informed us they had just sold the last one of that rug (even though we tried to purchase it prior to it supposedly being sold), and said she would order us one that we would have to wait at least 4 months for and that they would NOT even honor the sale price that we had tried to buy it at just the day before! She was extremely rude, unprofessional, completely non empathetic and dismissive. They employ bait and switch tactics and are completely disrespectful to their customers. We expressed our extreme frustration and disappointment with the entire months long process and how we finally had enough and once again how we wanted to speak with the owner. As usual they said they would pass the message on and of course he never bothered to even call us back. Why we attempted to chase this company down for so long to give them our business is beyond me and we regret wasting so much time and effort over months with a place that has zero concept of customer service. I wouldn't mind but our family has multiple Claire Murray rugs throughout our households which we indicated to the staff throughout our conversations. They claim to sell high end products (which we learned are now all made in China by the way), so you figure they wouldn't go out of their way to dish out deplorable customer service. Needless to say they lost a good customer and neither myself nor anyone in my family will ever buy another rug from them. Do yourself a favor and give your business to another more deserving company rather than buy their over-priced inferior products that are accompanied with some of the worst customer service to be found.

Rugs are pretty. But I discovered that they are now made in China. Customer service not ideal.

The rugs were beautiful and appeared to be well done. The in store experience was horrendous. Attitudes ranged from arrogance and complacency to completely ignoring proper, respectful customer service. Won't be back.

Beautiful place, lovely items if you're a fan of her works. Totes, rugs, pictures, all sorts of textiles that she's famous for. Such a charming welcoming store with everything from loungewear to pillows and her beautiful bags. Such a New England/Cape Cod treasure.
