About Sandy Neck Camp Sites
Sandy Neck Camp Sites offers a unique camping experience behind the dunes. The sites are very small, allowing for a maximum of 2 tents each, and each has a picnic table. Drinking water is brought in by the staff. The area is described as a really beautiful place. However, there are some potential downsides to be aware of. By mid-season, the porta-potty is often in poor condition, and it's best to avoid sites 1 and 3 as the toilet odor can be noticeable throughout the stay. The lean-to option, located about 2.3 miles from the ocean, provides a closer experience but a longer hike. It has one window and good breezes, with plenty of places to set up a hammock. The dry porta-potty is just behind the lean-to. Bugs are generally not a problem, but visitors are advised to bring bug spray. The tent sites and lean-to offer a peaceful and scenic camping experience, with the ability to have a fire on the beach and enjoy beautiful sunsets. The sites are equipped with a dining table, dry toilet, and drinking water, so guests don't need to carry in their own water. However, the remote location may make it less accessible for those with mobility challenges.

Spend a November night in the tent site 5. There was water, wood, and a dry toilet in the camping area (even though I carried my own water because I was not sure). Very beautiful and calm place. The lean-to looks nice, too, but is close to the gravel road. For those interested, the mobile internet connection was good, too.

Definitely worth of the hike. Fire on the beach with beautiful sunset, no crowded. Such a peaceful experience with my friends. The campsite was having dining table, there is dry dry toilet and drinking water. So no needs to carry water.Unfortunately this is not really handicapped friendly due to the location.

I swear by natural Bug spray, have camped in numerous places.... but bring the Deet, I repeat bring the deet. The mosquitoes are vicious. Otherwise the rangers were really nice and brought our firewood down.
Hiking on the sand with a 50 pound pack was a little rough with my tendinitis
