I went to Asmar to find high quality jewelry for my wife. I prefer small family businesses wherever I can find them.
This was my first serious foray into this area.
I do deep dive research into most everything I do.
What struck me is the amount of time Asmar and his team spent not only helping me find what I was looking for, but the time he spent educating me and answering my copious lines of inquiry over several visits, not only on regarding this purchase, but on general topics such as how to test metals and gems for genuineness... Asmar has equipment to do this, and he freely tested a some artifacts that I brought in.
He spent a great deal of time with me and was responsive to my numerous questions and inquiring mind.
I purchased earrings with a gem stone that I spent hours researching on my own to make sure I could detect authenticity and fair pricing. The piece I purchased was previously owned, and there was no historical documentation. Visually it passed all the quality tests that corroborated authenticity... color, inclusions, light properties, etc. Asmar was candid in his lack of certainty about this particular stone, but he brought out his hardness meter for one more test, and we compared against other substances. The stone was squarely in range for the type of gem it was advertised to be.
My wife and family were all impressed by and pleased with the gift.
In friendly conversation I also learned a lot of background about his multi-generational family business and got to meet his wife (who helped me find options) and on one visit even met his mother.
Asmar clearly has a passion for what he does... he is patient, honest, diligent, friendly, and loves working with his customers! He and his business are gems (pun intended)!
Before writing this review, I read through all the other reviews... so far every single review is 5 stars: that's astounding, although not surprising! People who are honest, hardworking and care about customers make great businesses :)!!”
“Stopped to get some jewelry appraised and Andrea offered to clean my rings. A 5 year old ring that I had fabricated at another local jeweler made from my mom's diamond jacket ring was a mess! Prong settings loose, diamonds set incorrectly and loose. Andrea had her fabricator take a look at and he wouldn't touch it, so we had it redesigned in platinum which was supposed to be done 5 yrs ago and they missed the boat on that too. Anyhow, picked up ring today, it is gorgeous. First time meeting Andrea, she is the best. She went out of her way to get this ring right and delivered in short notice. I will be back! “Robyn was so nice!! The peircing went well and was totally happy with it. When i felt lightheaded they got me glucose tablets and water. They talked me through all my questions and fears.
