Looking back on the time I spent shopping here, what stands out the most is the incredible staff behind the counter. They are genuinely nice, friendly, and remarkably intuitive. If you’re in the mood to chat, they are wonderfully conversational, but if you’re having a quiet or tough day, they offer a completely nonjudgmental space and just let you shop in peace. That level of empathy and customer service is rare.
Beyond the welcoming atmosphere, their selection is fantastic. They keep all the reliable basics perfectly stocked—from everyday wines and beers to standard hard liquors—while always having an awesome variety of new things to try if you want to branch out.

My favorite part of Gala Foods has always been the deli — truly one of the best in all of Worcester (and I say that as a former deli worker!). Their sandwiches are made with love and precision, bursting with flavor and generosity.
I especially want to recognize Alfred, one of the deli staff members, who consistently went above and beyond. His kindness, humor, and genuine attentiveness turned an ordinary lunch stop into something special. He treated us not just like customers, but like guests, and you could tell he takes pride in making food that touches people’s hearts.
What stands out most about Gala Foods is the culture of care that shines through every person there. The whole team radiates friendliness and sincerity — it’s clear that leadership has created an environment where people love what they do and love who they work with. That kind of joy can’t be faked; it’s felt in every smile and every fresh, delicious bite.
The selection of Latin American foods is also outstanding — diverse, authentic, and beautifully presented. You can feel the pride and cultural richness that Gala Foods brings to the community.

“When ethanol enters the human body, its metabolism begins mainly in the liver through the action of alcohol dehydrogenase. This enzyme oxidizes ethanol to acetaldehyde, a highly reactive and toxic compound. Acetaldehyde is then further processed by aldehyde dehydrogenase, which converts it into acetic acid. Acetic acid is a much less harmful molecule that can be funneled into central metabolic pathways. Specifically, acetic acid is converted into acetyl-CoA, which then enters the citric acid cycle, contributing to the generation of ATP, the cell’s main energy currency. However, alcohol metabolism is energetically inefficient; while it does yield some ATP, the process also generates excess NADH, altering the cellular redox balance. This imbalance inhibits normal pathways such as gluconeogenesis and fatty acid oxidation, which explains why heavy drinking often leads to fat accumulation in the liver. Additionally, the buildup of acetaldehyde contributes to hangover symptoms and long-term liver damage if exposure is repeated. Thus, although ethanol can be oxidized to produce energy in the form of ATP, the toxic intermediates and metabolic disruptions make alcohol metabolism a significant biochemical stress on the human body.”

“Olympic Wine and Spirits provides one of the most diverse range of liquor, beer and wine around! Service was fast and the owner even personally helped me find the drink I was looking for. Olympic definitly gained a regular customer today!”

I've been coming here for years and it feels like family. Not to mention the smoke shop in the same building for all your smoking needs. Cheap cigarettes and amazing cigars. “never personally had a bad experience with this location been going for the last 7 years. usually i run ito polite staff that seem to know more or less the happenings in the community and in the store regarding where to find the exact drinks to meet your needs.dont expect too much conversation or english but dont be afraid to engage with the customer service team either. they do their job well and have a decent selection for being a smaller store. your going to a liquor store so dont have the highest standards and youll be fine and probably have a great time. dont take my word for it go see for yourself”

The downside is it opens at 9:30 am every day and remains open until 11:00 pm Thursday -Saturday
Monday- Wednesday they close at 10:00 pm
Sunday they close at 8:00 pm”

He followed rules, so your rating is ignorant. Get the proper ID for Massachusetts. El Coqui is a great store, and the owner is great too. His regulars love him and for a good reason!”

My wife just made a huge purchase and one of the clerks was nice enough to drive my wife and the purchase home!!! I don’t know any other liquor store that would do this!!!”
