Planet Rock is an indoor rock climbing gym offering auto-belays, top-roping, lead climbing, and bouldering. It features a unique cave in the sport climbing area, a 2019 Moonboard, and an on-site coffee shop. The gym is described as queer-friendly with a gender-neutral restroom. Reviews highlight a fun, friendly, and laid-back atmosphere, with an incredible, helpful, and passionate staff team whose joy for climbing extends to their work. The route setting receives mixed feedback, called quite good and interesting by some, though others wish for more variety beyond just small, far-apart holds. Significant criticisms focus on safety and maintenance. Multiple reviewers report dangerous conditions, citing a lack of staff oversight during safety checks and belay tests, with stories of staff having to rescue climbers due to partner error. The physical layout is noted as hazardous, particularly a narrow back alley in the bouldering area where close calls and falls are common, and people often walk under climbers. Cleanliness is a repeated concern, labeled the dirtiest gym some have visited, with holds seemingly not washed between settings. The gym's hours are widely criticized as ridiculous and limited compared to others. A barefoot rule in climbing areas is also mentioned as an unusual prohibition. While experienced climbers may still use the facility, several reviews strongly caution against bringing new climbers, stating the gym will not set them up for success and recommending they go elsewhere.
Wow, I have never in my adult life been spoken to like I was spoken to your employee Matt. Attempted to do a top rope test and was belittled and embarrassed in front of everyone. Unbelievably loud, unprofessional, and condescending. First and last time I come to this gym.

First time ever trying rock climbing. Staff was great at getting us going and answering questions. Coffe drinks were great too.

It was a lovely place I have been going for 8 years and will keep going for as long as I like here!
