33086 Northwestern Hwy, West Bloomfield“I rarely leave reviews but had to share my experience with Art Leaders Gallery for my framing project. I’ve spent years searching for vintage Detroit Tigers autographs that had to fit just right and are all valuable pieces to get combined with a Tigers All Time Team signed lithograph. I always envisioned cutting out little boxes to make the autographs blend in with the rest to make it look as natural as possible. I went to several framers and no one seemed confident to do this. Luckily I brought my project to Art Leaders and worked with Lindsey. She did an amazing job and it turned out better than I had hoped. The pricing was way lower than several others I received quotes from. Top notch service and nice turnaround time. Will be having them frame other sports memorabilia and photographs in the near future.”
“Bought 2 paintings at Umoja. I intend to buy more. International and local artists of exceptional skill fill the walls and walk around the space. You never know who you are going to run into.”
“One of my favorite stores in all of Metro Detroit. Scented candles and lip balms, gorgeous hand-made jewelry, eccentric clothing, and you-name-it. The staff are always so helpful and friendly. I will also find something new and needed, lol.”
“Another one of my favorite boutiques in Royal Oak! Lots of the gifts here are international/imported and truly unique, from home decor, figurines, jewelry, stationary, fragrance, clothing, ornaments, and housewares. I also love that they sell genuine crystal bead bracelets, items + art from local artists, and outdoor goods. There's something new here every time I visit. The woman who works there is also super kind and is great to have a conversation with :)”
“Our favorite store for unique and fun gifts. Everyone is so kind and friendly. They're always very helpful and they gift wrap your items. It's always a very memorable and wonderful experience visiting the store.”
“Can't say enough good things about Nicole and Winterset Gallery. I brought her an original print of my grandparents' wedding photo. It's 100 years old. I wanted a period-correct frame, and she was right up front in advising that it would be hard to find. We picked out a mat, and I started calling local thrift and antique stores. The next day, Nicole called to say she had found the perfect frame. She had to size it for its new picture The end result is wonderful at what I consider a very fair price. Thank you Nicole!”
“I have gotten multiple custom frame jobs done here and they turn out absolutely stunning every time. They are very creative and turn the vision into an amazing work of art. Highly recommend!”
“I love to browse and shop for unique Michigan and Royal Oak items! She has the cutest decor, clothing and yummy Michigan brand snacks. Colleen and staff are always helpful and friendly! Love her shop!”
“Art + Frame is fantastic. I've gone to them for 4+ frames. My latest frame came out so beautiful and the owner was extremely patient while I picked out a frame and mat. He even broke down the cost of each item so I could understand how much the framing, matting, labor, etc. cost. Would absolutely recommend!”
“This store, the owner Janine, and all the artists are amazing. I’ve been an artist here for almost a year now and every time I come in there are so many new and unique things. I always ended up buying something. Janine is so passionate about supporting artists and creativity- and it really shows throughout the store. This is a great place to support handmade and shop small.”

228 W 4th St, Royal Oak“This is a unique store here in downtown RO. It's off 4th street, west of Main Street, just a bit off the beaten path. There's such a hodge podge collection of items here. Some fun toys for kids, adults and the adult kids too. Stuffed toys, old school or retro toys. Some clothing items too. I do enjoy taking a gander here and there when we walk around downtown. If you are in town, do check it out, you might find a unique memorabilia item you just have to buy.”
“My experience w/ PW have mostly been positive. I enjoy the art I've chosen. I'm looking forward to visiting some of their galleries in the future or attending a land event someday. When a frame on one of my art pieces had improper fit, my customer service experience was smooth, the piece was re-framed nicely and in the time they estimated. One downside is that if you attend a cruise auction the sales associates can sometimes be pretty pushy, and maybe they bend the truth a little to far in order to make a sale. With the telecasts, it's not that way. The concierges Ive worked with have always been gracious and helpful.I actually enjoy learning about the artists and types of art. I think perhaps PW needs to come out with a glossary of their art terminology because some folks seem to get confused with things like: graphic works, unique, original, limited edition, etc. I feel bad hearing about others experiences, when they're left feeling "scammed", but maybe a little education can help alleviate that. Side note: I have to stress the importance of reading the fine print of the auction agreements the associates give out!One minor detail. I'm not so sure any gallery should be conducting their own appraisals on the art they sell. Seems maybe like a bit "conflict of interest"? But maybe that's common practice, I'm only a casual observer.”
“The options were great and the woman I worked with did a stellar job of helping pick the frames and matting for the paintings I brought in, and even showed some options they had in stock that would lower the price a little. I will say it was not cheap compared to other shops we've been to, but that may just be the Bloomfield area mark up.”
