“She did a wonderful job altering my wedding dress for me! She was able to alter the lace top and sleeves so that it fit me perfectly, and added the perfect bustle for dancing. Would highly recommend bringing a wedding dress here!”

“I mean I don’t know where to begin. I’m an avid vintage/consignment shopper and have been to shops all over the world (Tokyo, Rome, London) but this one is consistently the BEST. Most unique stuff that is proper vintage - anything from custom tailored with no label to luxury designer pieces like Pucci. The owner Amanda is there every. single. time. I go, which is often, and offers the most genuine advice and input. Make sure you have enough time to shop… it’s your fault if you leave empty handed ;)”

“Was reminded yesterday how wonderful this place is after a few years of not visiting. Reasonable prices, good quality and really made me nostalgic for how vintage stores used to be before they got crazy expensive in the last 10 years and filled with old forever 21 pieces. Got my dress last minute for a wedding and grateful that there are still local brick and mortar shops like this!!!”

“Byron's resale shop is absolutely without a doubt the cleanest resale shop I have ever visited. Byron himself is a class act, top shelf stand up guy and is not afraid of a good haggle on prices. Go see !!”

“I came here once several years ago. I was treated so kindly and given a fair pawn amount. Later when I came to pick up my item I bought several pieces of jewelry. I felt like a human and not a way to just make money off me as a customer. I always return here periodically, just because :)”

“Hey guys dropping in for some QTNA, I just spoke with Tania and she was so helpful! Yes, Detroit Closet does buy shoes, clothes and accessories from 1-3pm on weekends. On weekdays it depends on how long they will buy but it’s based off their budget for the day. They open at 12 noon and close around 6pm. Hope this helps bc it helped me!”

“I have purchased clothing for myself, my 2 children and my husband from the Salvation Army for over 20 years. Our son, now nearly 20, will only shop at Salvation Army for his own clothes. Daughter, just over 21, only shops retail. She then gets depressed when she sees the same items at Salvation Army a few months (or a year) later! My 4 favorite Salvation Army stores are the one on Van Dyke in Centerline, the one on Dodge Park in Sterling Heights, the one on Gratiot in Roseville and the one on Harper and 13 Mile in St Clair Shores. They are close to my house and well taken care of. They are always clean. I prefer buying second hand items. It saves the landfills for awhile.”

“For years I overlooked this particular Value World which was my loss as it's absolutely loaded with stuff. Like you have to pull clothes completely off the rack to even get much of a good look at them. The men's long sleeve dress shirts have so many options all neatly organized by color, very pleasing to the OCD mind. At my current restaurant job we have to wear cream or khaki colored pants and white long sleeve dress shirts. I've bought white shirts from this VW twice. This last visit I tried to find pants but there were so many pairs in that color and so many not my size I eventually got fatigued and gave up. I have enough to get by for now and I'm not going to hold it against them. I used to not even try to find pants at thrift stores as I was so skinny they never seemed to have my size. I've put on a few pounds now but it's still not easy. They had enough options here and though they didn't seem to be organized by size I can't blame em. A lot of clothes look to move through this place. You might catch some funky odor here and though in 2023 thrift stores aren't the value they once were it still beats buying stuff new. The outside has that classic Value World look and the employees look like they know all about the thrifting game even if they sometimes also have that weary of working customer service look. At any rate they look cool and are probably hoarding some good shit behind the scenes. I know I'd be. This last trip here I stopped to look for CDs but then remembered my Jeep CD player is broken. I also can't be loading up on clothes as I'm broke and gotta move soon. This thrift store is the type of place that makes me wanna reactivate my dormant thrifting gene though. It's probably my favorite thrift store at the moment. It's been a long time for a new ruler to ascend to the throne after the Value World on Woodward in New Center closed.”

“This is the second Value World I have visited. I usually enjoy thrifting but this is one of those places where you need to be mentally and physically prepared to dig through everything since their stores are so packed. The prices are okay. I had a digital $5 coupon since I signed up for their texts. I put it toward a scarf for our toddler. The cashier wasn't overly friendly and didn't seem to be thrilled to be there but she did get us out expeditiously.”

They are an active staffed drive thru & dropff donation center so they get lots of goods, clothes, furniture, dishes, jewelry, sports goods, kitchen stuff, etc. It will take time to go through it all to find good buys but I have. If you're donating near year end there can be a line of ?”

“I have spent several years looking for a very specific Chanel bag that was only made for one year. I found it doing a google lens search at this shop. I ordered it on Wednesday morning and it arrived Saturday morning. It was packaged perfectly and in even better shape than the description and pictures showed. The price was very fair and they shipped it for free. They emailed all the way through the process. Email to confirm my order, another one when they had it packed and ready for pick up, another when it was picked up, another with tracking, and finally an email when it was delivered. It was a great buying experience. I'll definitely check their website in the future and if I end up in Michigan I'll absolutely visit the store.”

“As inflation hits everywhere, Salvation Army is no different but if you shop smart, you can still get a great deal. They offer a color of the week and anything that tag color is 50% off. Some days if you buy five clothes items of that color, they are all five for five dollars. The store is huge and fairly well organized. The customer service is good, but sometimes slightly understaffed.”

“I never write reviews, but as a single dad of teenage girls, I feel I got more help from here than I do at any other store I've ever been to. I felt the staff was friendly and very helpful, it is different - like they all want to be there. Here is an example, I do not know current style, brands, or prices and I needed school clothes for my daughters and my neighbor recommended Plato's. They helped me pick out clothes - mostly tops and some shoes and accessories. I've since been back not only to buy clothes, but to sell them. They did not buy all the clothes we had, but they did my most of them. I felt the staff was polite and the clothes they had were relevant - my kids like the styles I bought them. We all know how picky teenage girls can be.”

“I enjoy my visits to this location even just to browse. Pricing can be a bit scattershot (scatterbrained) but doable. I’ve definitely been to better which reinforces my 4star rating but nothing offensive overall.”
