Robert C. Valade Park is a popular new addition to Detroit's East Riverfront, offering a variety of outdoor activities and amenities. The park features a large, sandy beach with chairs and umbrellas, perfect for relaxing by the water. There is a colorful playground with a beach theme for children to enjoy, along with a musical garden and climbing play scapes. Visitors appreciate the park's cleanliness, with staff frequently wiping down tables and ensuring the grounds are tidy. Restrooms are available and maintained regularly, and security guards are present to ensure safety. The park also hosts several attractions and events. It has a community barbecue pavilion and Bob’s Barge, Detroit’s only floating bar, which operates during the summer. The Shed, a 3,600-square-foot building, hosts food, events, and programming, adding to the lively atmosphere. In winter, the park transforms with oversized outdoor fireplaces, hot drinks, marshmallow roasters, and outdoor games like the Sled Shed. Visitors enjoy local food from small businesses such as Geisha Girls Sushi and Smokey G's Smokehouse, available Wednesday through Sunday. Overall, Valade Park offers a clean, family-friendly environment close to downtown Detroit. It provides plenty of parking, visible security, and a variety of activities for visitors of all ages, making it a well-loved spot for relaxation, fun, and community events.
Great place. I go there for my WeRun313 run club sessions. The restrooms and the facility are clean and well maintained. You can get to see some great views of the Canadian skyline from there
