“I personally had a really good experience at Brian's. I had an appointment within 2 days of calling their office. I had to have my windshield replaced in shop because my car needs to be recalibrated after, and from start to finish it only took 2 hours. It was slightly pricier than Safelite but it evened out for me. Price I was quoted over the phone is what I was charged. Windshield looks great. They have a little waiting area and coffee station.”

They did testing first and isolated the problems and had all the gear/equipment on their work truck to fix my well/water issues on this first and only visit. “We came into town on a Saturday to the campground. We were scheduled to leave on Tuesday. On our way, our minivan overheated. I spent some time reading reviews of auto repair shops. The reviews for Mathieson were excellent, and I made it a favorite to call on Monday morning. Since he opened a bit later, I did start down a list and called several shops with good ratings. Only one could fit me in Tuesday at 11, (and we needed to check out at noon on Tuesday)! Everyone else was booked out days to a week. In the meantime, I kept calling Mathieson, in case the phones were answered early. My husband put a gallon of antifreeze in the radiator and we were just about to test drive it when Erick called from Mathieson. I explained our problem and he said to bring it right up. We did so, and while my husband and I went to town (in our other car), Erick worked on the van. Once he found the problem, he called with a fair price and said it would be ready by noon! We got back and he showed us the old parts and continued to be sure the car was fixed, and took it for a test drive. He even was giving us a break on the price. I highly recommend Erick. We were so very grateful that he understood our need to have it fixed that Monday, took good care of us, and made sure the fix was correct. Do not hesitate to give him a call if you are in need of an auto repair! What a great guy and mechanic!?”

“My experience with Mike Gasperich, the owner of Transmissions & More, is that he is honest, professional and not out to gouge anyone. And in the automotive repair business, we all know how rare that is! My wife and I were in Escanaba visiting her parents for a couple of weeks and I took a quick, solo 3-day trip down to Detroit to visit my family and friends. On the way back, I drove through torrential rain and my Nissan nearly stranded me when it went into "limp mode" on I-75 forcing me to pull off in the middle of heavy traffic going 80+ mph. I'd been through this routine once before with my Juke's infamous CVT and feared the worse. After I got back to Escanaba, I attempted a number of times to call the Nissan dealership in Marquette, but they brushed me off and apparently didn't want my business (no surprise). Well, we needed to drive back home (1100 miles!) in a couple of days and honestly, I was starting to panic. After a solid day of getting no return calls, I was getting more and more worried about the upcoming drive home. Then I had a thought to call another honest and trustworthy mechanic in Escanaba, Eric Mathieson (who has done a lot of work over the years for my father in-law), for a reference for someone who could work on my CVT. Eric said Mike was THE man. So I called Mike and though he said he was slammed with a backlog of cars to finish, he worked me in on an emergency basis to diagnose what I feared would be an extremely expensive and drawn out fix. When he pulled the code, turns out it was an engine sensor and not a transmission issue (thank God!), and he immediately knew to check the air filter. Check out the photos here, attached, and you'll see what my problem was: The torrents of rain and high winds had apparently shredded my air filter, which then tripped an engine sensor. Mike had dealt with this kind of issue before (well sure- he's been doing automotive and transmissions repair for 51 years!!). But he said my filter was the worst he'd ever seen. He and his crew did further inspection to check for dirt and any water in the air filter assembly, blew everything out, put in a new, heavy-duty filter and I was good to go. Including tax, I was out the door for around $50! Yeah, my jaw hit the ground and a day later I'm still floored. Mike is my new hero and I just wanted everyone in Escanaba to know about my experience. So if your transmission is needing some work, I can guarantee that you'll get an honest assessment and a fair price from Mike. That's just the kind of guy he is. “I have bought 3 boats with motors from Richards over the past 10 years and every dealing from purchasing it, them maintaining and storing it during winter has been enjoyable and fair. Our camp is over an hour away and each year, Steve delivers our pontoon and picks it up in the fall, so we don't have to own a trailer. He will even will take it thru 2 channels to our dock if we want. Danny was very fun and easy to deal with. He even sold me two sea kayaks that were not for sale as I really wanted them and gave me a great deal. Richards Boatworks is a great place to use if you have a boat.”

“Had my oil changed a Brians Quick Lube about a month ago. They told me that my transmission filter was really old and needed replacing but didn't have a filter at that time. Stopped by the other day with a new filter and they replaced it. Thought they might charge me something for their time, but he just smiled and said no charge. Great customer service. “They do great work, had a headlight bulb quit working and it's a pain in the butt to replace, bumper removal and the whole nine yards. Well had a local mechanic shop do it but couldn't fix it paid over $1000, they claimed 6 hours of labor they did plus sensors and system resets. Went to Ward's and they replaced not only the bulb harness (which was the problem) but all the broken pieces from the last shop to try and fix it. Great job!”
