“This Is My Very First Time Checking In At An Actual Motel By Myself. I've Stayed A Night At Other Motels Before. But I Was With Other People. Especially When I Was A Minor Of Course. But This Is My First Time Checking In By Myself. I Can Actually See The Real Difference Between A Motel And A Hotel. The Woman Who Runs This Motel (Amber) Is Super Nice. For Starters... I Live In Stevens Point, Wisconsin And I Often Travel Up Here To Be With My Handicapped Girlfriend Whom I Met At A Pathways Dance Some Years Back. In Case It Must Be Known, I'm Handicapped Too. Whenever I Travel Up Here To Escanaba, I Always Make It A Long Visit. I Used To Be Able To Stay With My Mom And Step-Dad. And Forgive Me If This Is TMI... But My Mom Most Recently Left Him Because Of How Crazy He Is. And To Be Fair, He Had Many Chances To Get Help And Turn Over A New Leaf. But He Never Did. And My Mom Was Fed Up With Him. When She Left Him, She Moved Down By Me, My Sister, My Niece And My Nephew. Maybe I Would Still Stay With My Step-Dad If He Went And Got Help. But It Doesn't Look Like That'll Ever Happen. Meanwhile, I Do Wish Him Well. Maybe I Would Be Able To Stay With My Girlfriend And Her Parents If There Was Extra Room. But I'm Working On Getting Myself An All-Four-Seasons Camping Tent I Can Use Whenever I'm In Town Here And Everything I Would Need With It. I Can Very Likely Have It Set Up In Their Back Yard. I Can Make That My Home Away From Home. But I Figured For The Time Being, I'd Plan On A Few Days Somewhere I Could Afford. I Picked This Place, And I Had A Nice Stay Here. I Inadvertently Arrived At The Wrong Time. I Had Reservations For Wednesday January 31st And I Arrived After 2:00 In The Morning. I Guess I Wasn't Supposed To Show Up Then. Plus, Somebody Else Was Using The Room I Had Reserved For Me And Was Going To Check Out That Very Day. But Luckily There Was A Room Available And Amber (Who Lives There By The Way) Was Really Nice To Let Me Sleep In That Room Free Of Charge Until The Other Person Checked Out. I Had My Girlfriend Stay Here With Me Too. I Know One Thing That Bothered Her Was How Thin The Walls Are. You Can Hear The People Nextdoor Talking. But That Never Bothered Me. Hardly Anything Bothered Me Here. I Wouldn't Mind Staying Here Again. I'd Give This Motel A Thumbs Up. ?Hey Amber, If You Can See This, Thank You. ?”

“An absolutely wonderful stay (evening of 1/31/24). My wife and I stopped in just for the night on our way back downstate. I wish that we could have stayed a few more days. We were greeted warmly by the lady at the front desk (Julie?). She carried herself with the enthusiasm of someone who truly liked people and her job. She recommented the Nelson Ludington Suite that was right off the lobby, and took us on a tour. A great lodging (it was MUCH more than a room - and I mean heavy on the word SUITE) and a good price, so we booked it. She also told us about the dining room and the bar. It was Wednesday night, and as it turned out, the bar had a band every Wednesday night. So - We got appetizers in the dining room (great service & food), and went to the bar across the hall. The lady at the desk was looking out for us and made sure that we had seats in the bar, which was packed. The crowd was very friendly. The band was a lot of fun, and they related well with the folks in the bar.The building is under renovation, and the renovations that are complete are charming, show a lot of care, and maintain the character of the building. I've read some other reviews in which the reviewer expected a shiny, new vibe. I don't know what to tell them, because, as I mentioned earlier, our experience was friendly, charming, and the building and the renovations to date are beautiful.Nearby activities: A lakeside park and marina are within walking distance. We might come back in the summer and book the suite as vacation lodging (BTW: The suite has a door to the outside as well as a door to the lobby).Walkability: At the end of an active downtown. A lakeside park is right across the street as well as the Sand Point historic lighthouse.”

“All said and done, I spent 2 months here, most of the staff were awesome, especially the manager, and front desk. With the exception of Hally, and the third shift guy, everyone was great. Even when my wife came and stayed with me, people were respectful that due to her health concerns she needs to sleep in, and kept the noise to an absolute minimum.... they allow pets, so my wife could bring our 1 dog. The place was clean and tidy, there was snow while we were there, but it was taken care of. My car broke down and I was able to work on it in the parking lot with no issues... everything was wonderful, thank you guys...Rooms: The rooms were decent, I had a king size suite, on the 4th floor, my only concern was the wallpaper had slight peeling, and the room was either extremely humid, or overly dry; so much so that my feet cracked, and that never happens.Safety: There are only 2 cameras on the property, one in the front lobby facing the front entrance, and the other on the side hall, pointing toward the side door, but just around the corner so if you come in the side door and go to the elevator it doesn't even see you... I'd give the place a great rating if you don't want people knowing what or where you are or who you have coming and going, but for families, normal people, and actual safety rating I wouldn't even give them a single star out of 10, they actually had someone go missing from the hotel, and even with police and investigators looking, he was never found, still to this day....Food & drinks: Seasons Lounge is at the hotel, it has pretty good food, but is definitely on the more expensive side, even though it's all bar food. They sell alcohol as well. The hotel has the best continental breakfast i have ever seen, always hot eggs with sausage patties, a waffle iron, as well as the usual cold cereal, milk hard boiled eggs and yogurt and pastries too.”

“Fridge/freezer was frosted so much to the point it wasn't even cold, rooms just seem run-down, tiny ancient TV, slooooowwwww wifi (couldn't watch a youtube video), and disgusting brown stain on the mattress. Unfortunately didn't see it til we woke up and am now going to shower in bleach.”
