Nice hotel. Clean rooms and kind staff. Beer and food selection at bar is decent for a hotel like this.

I have stayed at this hotel a few times within the last few years. Always book the same type of room with the city view. Usually don't have any issues with the room but this time around there was a huge stain on the carpet next to the bed that looked like could've been wine, the lamps beside both sides of the bed are hanging by a thread and the blackout curtains didn't work. Besides the issues with the room, the staff is always very friendly.

Rooms completely lack soundproofing. I'm on the 7th floor and it sounds louder than a street level motel. No way to turn fan on consistently for white noise. People screaming in the halls at 1 am and trying to get into my room. Room is large, location is convenient. Perfectly fine if you don't plan to rest.

This is a newer hotel that seems well built and taken care of. It's an interesting location. It's a few blocks from the river and is walking distance from Rosa Park circle, as well as plenty of bars and restaurants. I even walked from the Knickerbocker. There's also a small marketplace nearby but I didn't go there myself.
You have to pay daily for parking. There's plenty of room but you have to drive up a few flights. The garage is on the back of the building on a one way street. It is attached, you can walk right into the lobby on the second floor. There's a loading lane out front for check in.
There is a pool in the basement, it is narrow and no hot tub. There is a small workout room.
The lobby is on the second floor, where there is a bar with limited options, a common area, and a kitchen for the complimentary breakfast. They appear to not use powdered eggs, which is a bonus.
Pets are allowed and they seem to clean after them well because there isn't a pet smell at all. There is not really grass around for pets to go to the bathroom though. My dog normally doesn't go on pavement but did a few times, or in the wood chips around the trees. We did walk down to the court house lawn a few times too.
The rooms were clean and well stocked, which are usually the main things I look for since I don't tend to spend a lot of time in my hotel when I travel. The TV channels are very limited and there was no microwave.
Last thing worth mentioning is the hyper security. You need to scan your card twice to get into the main doors. You have to scan it before you go to your floor in the elevator. To get into the hall and then the rooms where the pool and gym are. And you scan to get in and out of the parking garage.
Overall, this is a fine place to stay. I wish I could give it a 3.5. I liked it well enough, it has the main amenities, and It met my expectations which makes it a 3, but I'll not go out of my way to stay there again so can't really give it a 4. A conference paid for 2 of my 3 nights. If they book me there again in the future I won't be upset.
I guess I'd say the cons for me is parking, I always felt like I was waiting for an elevator - there's only two and they're not the fastest, and then it just felt like it was missing a few things like the small pool, no hot tub, no microwave, and basic cable. It's a nice location but unlike hotels a few blocks over you don't have a great view. Add in that is a little bit more costly given those shortcomings.

Room was clean and breakfast was amazing. We came to town for a bachelorette trip. Anything we requested they were on it. The only downside was the bartender was a bit inexperienced so the drinks weren’t quite right.

We actually accidentally ended up at this hotel, totally my fault I booked the wrong one, but this was a great accident because the room was a bit bigger, beds were perfectly comfortable and we actually made it to the pool and it was a perfect temp. The service was amazing as well, thank you for a great stay it helped make a great weekend!
Stay 7/18-7/21
Rooms: When it comes to the 2 queen bed room rooms they are quite large with a pull out couch bed, the beds are very comfortable, the tv swivels so you can see it from anywhere you sit in the room and there’s a mini fridge and a little coffee station too.

7/17/2024 first time in Hyatt Place Grand Rapids. Stayed for a week. I requested my room to be cleaned and had to complain. There was a young woman I met a day later I was telling her about it she wasn't even with the house keeping and she took it upon herself to bring me some clean towels. Ms Brut was very kind and found out she was leaving, what a loss of such a good worker and person.Sink water was running very slowly. My experience was unbelievable.went down to breakfast with grandchildren and the worker asked what country he was from. And then said there goes all the bacon. Well you better believe we're paying for it. Had to file a complaint. I am doing this review for the next family that stays in this Hyatt Place. Never felt so discriminated against.

Beautiful hotel in a great location for everything downtown GR has to offer. Breakfast was delicious all 3 mornings. We stayed 3 nights and didn't have housekeeping check in ever. The front staff was super friendly except for one person.

July 2024: the maintenance team doesn't know/care about HVAC cleaning?.. look at filter picture.
Seems okay overall. I just don't like the look of the HVAC filter.. ..update: and again. Also very noisy area at night.
