I want you to know what a great person and and a great customer service representative you have in Brian W. at the Michigan Ave. Jackson store.
I had parked my car down by the health and beauty aids section of the store.
I was shopping your store buying some batteries for my son. It was close to 9 PM. I went to the self check out near the health and beauty aids, But they just shut it down for the night.
So I walked all the way to the other end of the store to check out. I decided to walk indoors and exit where I had come in.
As I approached the doors. Brian told me that because it was just after 9 o’clockPM, they had just liked that set of doors for the night.
He could see that I’m 69 years old man and that my wear a brace on my leg to help me walk.
I said to him, “You’ve got to be kidding.“.
Before I could even turned around to walk to the other entrance, Brian manually unlocked both sets of doors and let me out.
I had had quite a long day of it, but Brian made me feel valued by helping me be able to get to my car quicker so I could go home.
Thank you, Brian W. You are a winner in my book!

Good selection of groceries, and lately the prices for certain chicken have been solid. The sushi is a also pleasant surprise. The main issue I have with Meijer is alot of items are marked up 1 to 3 dollars compared to other places. If you're shopping weekly for the family that can add up fast.

I retired from retail management after 42 years. One thing I would not compromise on is customer service. I instilled it in every cashier and courtesy clerk that they were the final contact with a customer. The customer may have great experiences with all the other departments, but it is the final contact with the cashier and courtesy clerk, they will remember. We retired here from another state two months ago. We tried Kroger, and then Meijer. I was shocked at the attitude and lack of any resemblance of customer service from the cashier and courtesy clerks in both companies. In Meijers, I asked the cashier a question several times. I was completely ignored, but she had no problem carrying on a conversation with the courtesy clerk. The lack of customer service was not an isolated incidence, as it is what has happened on every visit with different cashiers and courtesy clerks.
The store is clean and well stocked. The outside departments employees are great and very helpful and friendly. We will continue to shop there, as it is the closest major grocery store to us. The district manager and store manager need to address this issue though.

I can't deny that being able to go to one store for almost all things you may need is convenient. I also can't with a good heart and mind leave this review without informing everyone that Meijer is NOT a company anyone would want to be employed by seeing as they are NOT good to the people they employ. I know this for a fact by MANY different situations that occurred with several different people. The bottom line of it all is GREED!!!
