“This place is pretty run down but about what we expected for the price considering the amazing location. Staff was super friendly. Rooms were clean (especially considering the potential for extreme sandiness) pool looked nice/clean but we didn't use it. The private beach was well kept and offered a step down ladder from the sea wall into the sandy bottomed shallow waters of silver lake. It's right next to a boat rental place and on one of the main drags to get to the ORV area so it's not the most relaxing place to swim or tan but it was fine to dip our toes in and watch some of the big variety of off road dune vehicles pass by and some boats zipping around the lake. We stayed on the second floor of the beach house on the corner unit and had a great view of silver lake with the dunes in the background. It would have been nice to have a screen in the window (we opened it anyways) and the AC unit was pretty noisy. Other noteworthy issues were minor for us but could be a deal breaker for some. The shower plumbing was in rough shape. (Hard to keep it on shower vs. bathtub faucet) Also Loud noises (screeching/rumbling) from the plumbing with varying temps from too hot to too cold (without intentionally adjusting the temp). Also in general, the room was super tiny and very dated. Floors were uneven, walls were pretty thin and all the furniture looked like it was picked up at a yard sale. The TV was tiny, the bed wasn't the worst but far from the best. With all of that said, we didn't come for the room so much as the walkable location and a nice view to wake up to. For the price, silver sands more than delivered. If you're looking for a high end hotel, or even a regular chain hotel (like holiday inn) and plan to spend a fair amount of time in your room, I can't really recommend this place. However, if you just want a home base for an adventure weekend in the dunes that's clean, safe and convenient with some nice views of the lake and a big outdoor pool for the family that won't break the bank, the location and price can't be beat! As an aside, they also have several cottages available on the property that I can't speak to the quality on but based on the cleanliness, price and location, we are already planning a return trip with the kids next summer and looking to rent a cottage for a little more room/privacy.”

“We were traveling through this portion of the state and needed a stop for the night. They were extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, breakfast was simple but still better than the restaurant across the parking lot. Will stay there again when we return to the area.”
