Dr. Burns, in particular, is fantastic. He’s extremely personable, genuinely funny, and incredibly easy to work with. He has a great way of putting both pets and their owners at ease, while still being thorough, professional, and informative. You never feel rushed, and he takes the time to explain things in a way that makes sense and builds trust.

The entire hospital operates with a level of care and organization that you don’t always see. Whether it’s routine visits or more involved care, they consistently deliver a great experience and treat every pet like their own.

“I absolutely LOVE this place! The Doctors and staff I’ve encountered have been so kind and caring. My more recent experiences with veterinary offices (last ten years) have often felt rushed; you feel like a number. However, this office stands out far above the rest!

After moving back home with our 10-week-old puppy, Mille, who was sick and needed to be seen ASAP, Commerce Village Vet was the only vet willing to see her immediately (including my previous vet). Other offices had appointments in 10-14 days if I wanted to wait that long, or they suggested I take her to an ER vet. No way could I let my girl continue in pain for that long. Also, she was a puppy, and I wanted to start Ellie off with her new vet and the best experience possible. I didn’t want her first vet appointment here to be traumatizing.
Since our first, we’ve had several visits, and each one reminds me how much I appreciate them and how happy I am to have found them.

“Our cat was throwing up all day. Our normal vet did not have any open appointments. Dandy Acres was able to see her immediately. The concern they showed for her was touching. They provided a couple of care plans and there was no pressure to choose the more expensive one. In the end we ended up with a plan in the middle.

They called the next day check on our cat. Later that day when our cat was still not recovering well (she was significantly better than the day before, but still far from back to normal) they said I could pick up some additional meds from their sister hospital in Novi which is closer to my house. They said they did not want to stress our cat more by bringing her in. Again, their concern for the well being of her was heart warming.

I would not hesitate to take her or her sister the Dany Acres again.”

They sent us a card in the mail and when I went back with my other dogs, I felt nothing but love from everyone. They care so much about the pets that walk through that door. “ABSOLUTELY THE BEST CARE!! From the minute I walked in with my critically ill English Bulldog, Willis, I was treated with great compassion and kindness. My general veterinarian had sent me there, as Willis had developed severe pneumonia in a VERY short period of time. He was taken immediately for care and I was kept abreast of everything. From the front desk staff to the physician, I was put at ease. Dr. Howard was outstanding in her communication with me and addressed all of my concerns. Willis needed to stay for a couple of days, receiving oxygen and IV antibiotics. He turned the corner towards better health quickly. I was thrilled that MedVet texted me updates, as well as photos of Willis. HOW GREAT WAS THAT!! Dr. Felix handled his care, and she too was above and beyond the norm. Discharge was thorough in every way. I would highly recommend MedVet to anyone. It is FAR ABOVE a closer Emergency Care facility to my home. The drive was well worth the outcome.”

“My dog developed a large mass on the side of his neck, which grew rapidly. I took him to the vet as soon as I noticed it. They referred me to a specialist. I got second opinion from another vet and they also said to find a specialist. I was told he would need CT scans, ultrasounds, and surgery.

I was overwhelmed and desperately trying to set up the earliest appointments I could get for him. But within that time, it continued to grow. Within a week and a half it went from the size of a golf ball, to the size of a grapefruit. I felt like I wasn’t getting the immediate help my dog needed. That’s when we came to AEC and met with Dr. Melissa.

She had the confidence and experience to perform a procedure on my dog that was absolutely necessary and as a result, she saved him from a great deal of pain, and me from a great deal of panic. (Not to mention thousands of dollars).

Melissa introduced herself to my dog so he could became familiar with her. Then she explained to me what she would do, what she was looking for, and what would happen next. All before she took him to the back of the clinic. After the initial check she came back with more details, explanations, and information about the next steps she would take.

One thing I greatly appreciated is that Melissa gave me an estimated time as to how long the procedure MIGHT take, but she emphasized that an extended wait time did NOT mean something had gone wrong. That helped settle my anxiety and keep me from watching the clock too closely.

I admire emergency physicians and everyone in this field so much. They have to treat traumatic and urgent situations while also balancing their compassion for the animals they are helping. Melissa walks that line with kindness and integrity. She trusts her intuition and seemingly puts herself in the position of her patients. As a result, she provides them with not only the most comprehensive and quality care, she also provides them with a great deal of comfort.

One month later, I’m sitting on the couch next to my HEALTHY dog writing a review for this amazing doctor, Melissa. We are so grateful for you! I want to wrap this review up by acknowledging and praising the entire staff at the AEC. My interactions with the receptionists were particularly wonderful. One of them even helped me carry my still somewhat sedated, nearly 80 pound dog through the ice and snow in order to safely get him in my car!
