McLaren Macomb is a 288-bed tertiary teaching hospital located in Mount Clemens, Michigan. It offers a wide range of services, including cardiovascular care at the Mat Gaberty Heart Center, award-winning cancer treatment at the Ted B. Wahby Cancer Center, comprehensive orthopedic services, and a modern elective Surgery Center. The hospital is verified as a Level II Trauma Center and handles some of the busiest Emergency Centers in the area. Patients generally acknowledge the quality of medical care at McLaren Macomb, praising the nurses and doctors for their professionalism and expertise. Many staff members, such as nurses and nurse aides, are described as caring, friendly, and attentive. For example, some nurses go above and beyond by bringing cold drinks and offering helpful suggestions, which makes a difference in patient experiences. However, there are concerns about the consistency of patient care, especially in communication and bedside manner, with some staff members perceived as unkind or indifferent. The hospital’s facilities are kept clean, but patients often face long wait times, especially for testing and food service. Patients report waiting several hours for meals, which are frequently cold or soggy, and sometimes receive incorrect orders. The food service is viewed as a weak point, with suggestions for improvement including better menu options and faster service. Accessibility issues also concern some, as parking can be challenging for handicapped individuals, and there is a call for shuttles to assist those with mobility struggles. Customer service experiences vary, with some praising prompt responses after complaints, while others encounter rude or dismissive staff over the phone. Overall, McLaren Macomb provides good medical care with dedicated staff, but improvements are needed in patient communication, food service, and accessibility to enhance the overall patient experience.
