Amazing!! We didn’t know what to expect booking this campsite literally last second. They have a disc golf course that goes around the edge of the campground, it’s right on the dam so you can swim and put your boat in easily. Hiking and mountain biking also around the edge of the campground. So if you like to do outdoor activities and have a secluded campsite this is the place! I’d recommend staying on the left branch of the campground, the sites are more secluded.

Imagine paying $20 a night for a campground advertised as being rustic(no amenities) and then giving the state park 3 stars for being exactly that.I suggest reviewing the google photos before booking, you are obviously here leaving a review. Why not look up what you are about to buy? Like whether or not you need a recreational passport to access the park(you do) and how that works(by the plate, every vehicle entering needs one)Is it the state parks fault you didn’t do any research at all?Park is usually booked full on weekends with families. The Dragon trail intersects the park. It is not only a mountain biking trail. Beach is about 20ft wide. Not much they can do considering the location. If you want to just use a beach you would go to Operators park if you researched at all. Boat launch is in constant use, but never really a wait to drop in. The park has issues with people being loud past quiet hours and before quiet hours end, not much they can do but ask they people to be quiet. The parks closed after 10pm, which means campers have to stay in the campground, you need to use the paths if you want to get to the other campground not the road. I assume because they have other stuff like a beach and disc golf that is open to the public, and does include campers. Some reviews complain about being told to be quiet but most complain about the noise.Wish Newaygo county would enforce the speed limit on hardy dam pond. Speed boats absolutely roaring till late at night. If you book online it costs more. Any time I have ever had an issue the staff has been more than considerate in resolving or helping me. That’s why they are there. Don’t struggle, ask for help. This park is my absolute favorite. Site 85 when it isn’t busy, staff takes beyond good care of the park compared to others around hardy. Some amazing rustic camping to be had.If you think they can just install flushable toilets, lol.Playground: Large playground for kids but located near sites (5,6,7) but you can hear from further away.Restrooms: Vault toilets, they don’t get pumped until full, which to some is “too full”. No they can’t just install flush toilets.Dog-friendliness: Dogs need to be on a leash and supervised at all times. No dogs on the beach. Barking dogs will result in owner being asked to leave if they can’t control them.Picnic area: Covered pavilion with about 8 picnic tables, two grills and a fire pit. Located right next to disc golf.

Other than a vault toilet that was full to the top, it’s a nice facility.Loud people, & loud boats racing up and down the river after dark made for an unpleasant stay.

Views r magnificent through the trees, a beautiful body of water with foliage just as pretty. The trails are welcoming and the campground looked promising.Only reason for 4 stars is we were confused if it closed at 9 or 10 because of conflicting signs, and the people docking and unloading boats were loud and screaming. As long as they enforce the quiet rule after 10, shouldn't be an issue.Playground: Frisbee golfRestrooms: Didn't see anyPicnic area: Yes

We stayed at the Oak campsite to ride the dragon trail. Overall the campsite itself was clean. All of the spots have good tree coverage, a new picnic table and a fire pit. The vault toilets were well maintained and had hand sanitizer and plenty of toilet paper. The only down side were the incessant sounds of speeding boats down the water. It started as early as 6am and went on all day and night. It stopped around midnight. Bring earplugs or don’t come here if you’re trying to have a quiet camping time.

Really nice campground and cool swimming spot. We had a group of 8 camping on 3 lots. We were confronted by the DNR that runs the place at least 3 times a day. Reminding us of quiet time, even though we were just sitting by the camp fire talking amongst each other. Also we had to turn off our inverted (quiet) generator at 10, even though it’s no louder than a normal ac unit. Our child slept poorly because of the heat. Also there is a rule that your not allowed to leave after 11. Kind of strange. Had some strange rules. Not normal camping if you ask me. Maybe Karen the DNR lady was just on one that weekend.

Very quiet and clean. We always have a fun time geocaching here, they’ve had some really good ones in the past! Nice walking paths right next to the Muskegon River, our home away from home!

Largest parking for boats that I have seen. 1 boat, boat launch so you may have to wait in line to launch or load.

I went here for a solo 3-day vacation and it did not disappoint! Very quiet compared to other state parks I’ve visited. All of the other campers were very respectful and kind. The guy in the campground office was super chill and helpful. I will definitely be going back!

Went here earlier today, gorgeous park. Lots of parking in multiple spots plus many trails. Some are well-paved, some not, a great variety! I loved walking through, great wat to spend my morning. There's also a boat lunch, lots of bathrooms, picnic areas, beach area, and a playground. Paradise you can get lost in!
