Really terrible experience with this bank and this branch. I've had fraud four times now, each over 100 dollars and from California, which i've never been. Each time I've been in Michigan, and each time they insinuate it's something i've done -yet I don't shop online, I don't buy from sketchy places, we don't eat out, and I rarely ever travel out of state. I attempted to close my account for a month straight with nothing but problems that prolonged the entire process. My father and I went into the Niles branch today to close my account for good, and Ginger Davis was not friendly or pleasant in the slightest. She made faces as though she didn't believe anything I said, and told me it must be one of those things criminals put on card readers, that's why there's so much fraud. Yeah, Ginger, it couldn't possibly be your terrible fraud department- it's Martin's Supermarket, for sure. At the end, she literally just sat down and didn't speak another word. I didn't even realize it was time for me to leave, as she never said anything else. It was like she was angry with me. I'm so done with this place. Constant stress and anxiety, with everything taking at least 90 days to figure out with them. The girls at this branch are rude and gossipy as well, talking about customer situations in a negative way right in front of other customers. It was also very clear they were less than thrilled to help me close the account.

They are the most unprofessional bank I have ever had the privilege of useing there services. A common trend of this day and age where it seems nobody can give you an answer but oh they are so happy to transfer you to someone else that can't give you an answer and yet to do the same thing , get transfered . If you asked me fifth thirds futer doesn't look so bright.

This location is absolutely horrible at customer service. I deposited a check in their atm at the Niles location over a week ago and they still will not put it in my account. Said there was a problem with the atm machine and they won’t open the machine still over a week to get my check to deposit it. Told me that eventually they will open but have no idea when. They don’t know when some will come open and empty it. So they told me to wait and eventually they will get to it and when they do someone in their back room should find it and figure out where it goes. Talked to Asst Manager three times now and same excuse each time. Asked to talk to the Manager and said they would call me back. Surprise no call back. I have never heard a worse excuse that general manager of a bank has no access to their atm machine that is attached to their building. They just don’t want to take some time to do their job/customer service! Absolute bs they are doing this. I’ve been banking with them for 25 years and have never had worse customer service than the Niles branch. Go to the Mishawaka or Dowagiac branch’s. They actually know how to and care to help customers. Sure is nice since Covid everybody thinks they get a free pass on sub par service.

I've never had a worse bank before this one. I'm all the time waking up to a negative account that shouldn't be. I got charged an overdraft fee because they said my card was negative on a Friday and it wasn't,it wasn't negative all that weekend. Then Monday comes and I get charged $37 even though my account wasn't negative. Customer service is a JOKE! they don't help at all. Half the time I can't even transfer money from savings to checking cause it won't work. I can't wait to close my account.

My husband died over a year ago and I'm in charge of the estate-leagal papers filed right there at the bank, and yet tellers and personal bankers treat me horrible, telling me AFTER they take a loan payment they can't give me a receipt or balance or even be decent and answer a question. According to them they treat me this way because I'm not on the account--evidently the court papers that appoint me in charge as his wife are not good enough for 5/3.THEY even froze one account and hit it for service fees for over a YEAR ,then realized they were wrong and returned a whole 5 month fees back. I can't wait to be done with this awful bank

Really stressed using the mobile app to deposit checks. I get my Christmas bonus and decided to use my saving for Christmas shopping and to use my 100% sure thing Christmas bonus check written from a multi billion dollar company. And it is put on hold. They explained the same thing would of happened if I came in to cash it. Why use a bank if they are going to put a hold on my funds but then tell me check into cash can have the money in my hand same day. I do not see the benefit of having 5/3 today. So yes I planned this out, and also yes the bank dropped the ball.

Not handicapped accessable. Front door has steps. Side (handicapped) entry has 2 doors that cannot be opened from a wheelchair. One must sit outside, bang on the door and, today, was answered rudely, "We are busy with other customers!" Really! Have had business & personal account for over 35 years. Even tried to call to get someone to open the door and got a recording. Manager, Eric, was very reluctant to help, gave me an no-human-ever automated phone number. I have been complaining about this for over 15 years.

Just used drive up service to cash some checks. After hitting call button was assisted in a timely manner. Asked to have checks cash and wanted big bills. She said she'd be right back. After waiting for 10-15 minutes she finally returned stating she was sorry for the wait but her computer went down and had to reboot. Something else was mumbled and then she said that my I'd was in the envelope. Guess what was inside...only 1 $100 and the rest $20s, $10s, and $5s. This was on a transaction of +$400. My first thought was, while she was "rebooting" she could of said she was having a problem and the wait would be longer than normal. My second thought when I saw the denominations in the envelope was... Did she just get hired? I've never had this problem...always received all $100 in past transactions. Too hot of a day to just sit and wonder if you're ever going to get waited on and then when you finally do, what was requested was not received. Tried to call bank after returning home (about 7 minutes after transaction) and no one answered the phone.... Perhaps it's time to see if customer service is important at other banks or is this the "norm" now?

Nobody knows anything, nobody has any authority to help you. Hidden fees, and systems frequently break. Expect to be treated like garbage by employees as well.Edit: I called the number given in the reply to my review, and was told the same nothingburger line. You're better off using a different bank. This one's a dud.

As a corporate customer with a retail store I often have to use the night deposit. Problem is the night deposit box is so badly in need of maintenance that it takes a strong man to use it while sitting in a vehicle. I complained about it twice a couple of months ago and they told me they have put in a work order. The box is in a narrow drive through lane and you can not get out of your car there. One would have to go park elsewhere and walk up to the box which is in a low visibility area on the back of the building That is safety concern.

On several occasions when I go to make a night deposit, there are never any envelopes. I'm not usually able to make it during working hours which in turn then I have to make several trips when it's not necessary.

Quick, courteous service by employees who take the time to get to know you and seem to truly care about their customers. They all know me by name and remember my children's names and things that they've told them even though all of their accounts and my primary accounts are at a credit union, so we're not in nearly as often as most. If a bank could offer the benefits that a credit union can, I'd transfer all of my financial business to them in a heartbeat.
