After asking for help in the matter, Avis kindly waived the fee in recognition of my 30+ years of loyal business. And I have promised to be more careful. The woman attending the desk was pleasant and helpful, and is the reason for my positive review. The first car I was assigned smelled like smoke so I requested to switch.
