“Conveniently located right off exit 212, off I-75, in West Branch. First of all, the staff, especially the front desk on Saturday morning, were all great. Very nice, helpful, and friendly. The hotel itself & the connected Lumberjack Restaurant have a cool "up north" charm to them. Decorated to look like a cabin/ lodge with some nice decor & cool artifacts throughout, it definitely has its own uniqueness. Room was nice size & clean. Unfortunately, I hear that Choice Hotels is renovating this location. I heard that it's changing from a Quality Inn to an Ascend brand, which I thought were made to be unique to the area/ community. This is where we had a problem. Because of these "renovations", the pool area was closed, even though the reservation email stated otherwise. We did have the option to use the pool area next door at the Super 8. Just very inconvenient to not find this out until driving almost 3 hours & checking in. Also, they don't offer a breakfast, probably because of the restaurant. Problem is, Choice has changed the hours, & they're no longer open for breakfast. I feel that if Choice continues with these changes, it'll be a big mistake on their part. They do have a decent size parking lot, with a second lot for anyone driving an RV, towing trailers, campers, etc. Plenty of dining choices & gas stations within walking distance or short drive. Also a short drive to downtown West Branch. All in all, the staff was excellent, & it's a cool, unique place to stay... for now. We'll see what Choice Hotels decides to do to it.”
