Matilda's Dog Bakery and Boutique
4521 E Superior St, DuluthMatilda’s Dog Bakery and Boutique is such a nice, cute shop! We brought our puppy in, and the staff was incredibly welcoming. They went above and beyond by giving our pup a birthday hat and a birthday horn, which made the visit feel so special. The boutique has a great variety of different high-quality foods, fun treats, and unique cheese options for dogs. It is a fantastic local business, and we will definitely be back to spoil our dog some more!

A Place for Fido
In Fitger’s Mall, 600 E Superior St STE 120, DuluthThe best! I started going to A Place for Fido last year when I got a puppy. The owner and staff have been so helpful, knowledgeable, fun and friendly. I usually bring my pup along. She loves visiting and is always greeted and even offered a treat! Great selection of anything your pup needs, and an even greater selection of things they don’t need, but you’ll buy because it’s all fabulous.

Northland Boarding
5175 N Tischer Rd, DuluthMy family switched to Northland Boarding maybe a year ago, and we have absolutely loved our experience. Kim, the owner, always remembers our dogs and is very communicative about what happens when they're boarded. We drive 45 minutes to drop off our dogs and won't use any other kennel if we can help it. I couldn't recommend Northland Boarding enough!

Dougherty Veterinary Clinics
215 E 14th St, DuluthThis year will be 7 years of going to Dougherty Vet Clinic for my Guinea pig(s). Dr. Jeanetta, who has since retired, took amazing care of both my piggies. During my oldest piggies last few months she helped ease my fears about her illness and prescribed Peanut some pain meds to make her a little more comfortable in her final moments. Peanut had a very peaceful passing thanks to Dr. Jeanetta. Sylvia is still “rocking and rolling” at nearly 7 years old! She will now be seeing Dr. Emma in April and I look forward to meeting her and showing off my old piggy. Thanks Dougherty for taking care of both my piggies through every of their stages of lives!

Canal Bark
4502 Airpark Blvd, DuluthGreat experience! I needed to board my very anxious cat for a night while we moved. I called ahead to ask questions about pricing and accommodations for an anxious cat, and the folks at canal bark were so kind and helpful! They walked me through what steps they can take to help an anxious pet and made me feel like my sweet boy would be well taken care of. He was boarded for two days/one night and the cost was about $80 (the cost was slightly higher than normal due to peak season pricing, and we also gave a small tip). When we picked him up, they even had a cute little report card telling us how well he did. Overall great experience and would recommend!

Deloia Kennels
9795, 5111 Midway Rd, DuluthI have 5 small dogs and we had an emergency trip to NC. We took two of our special needs pups with us and had to leave the other three at the kennel. My husband and I have never kenneled them before in fact we have not went on a trip together in 23 years because we have a hard time leave our babies. We decided to leave them at Deloia Kennels and I felt secure in knowing they would be well taken care of. They were! Deloia Kennels went above and beyond in making sure we felt comfortable leaving three of our babies with them. The pups did great on their 11 day adventure! I would definitely leave them there again if the need should arise. Thank you Deloia Kennels, Dale and Louanne ❤️

Sir Benedicts Tavern on the Lake
805 E Superior St, DuluthWe stopped by Sir Benedict's for drinks after the Pier concert series. It was busy, and while seating was limited, we were able to find spots at the bar.
Our first bartender (female) provided excellent service. She made great beer recommendations, offered samples so we could find something we'd enjoy, and made us feel welcome.
Later, we ordered another round of drinks and were helped by a different bartender (male). He was pleasant initially and recommended the bread pudding when I asked about desserts, so I ordered it.
Unfortunately, that's when the experience went downhill. Our drinks were nearly finished before the dessert arrived. At one point, I saw the bartender walking around with a bread pudding and asked if it was mine. He replied that it was for order #95. Since I had never been given an order number, I assumed it wasn't mine.
After we finished our drinks, I tried several times to ask about the dessert, but I was repeatedly overlooked while the bar became busier. Eventually, another employee brought it out.
I immediately asked for a to-go box because of the delay. I was asked if I planned to eat some of it first, and I said yes. Unfortunately, the box never came. After waiting another 10-plus minutes and unsuccessfully trying to get the attention of multiple staff members—including asking the original bartender—I finally walked to the register and requested a box myself.
By then, the dessert had cooled, and after only a couple of bites, the bread pudding had soaked through the cardboard container. A foil-lined container would have made a big difference for such a moist dessert.
I almost didn't leave this review because the evening started so well, thanks to the first bartender. However, the lack of follow-through and communication during the second half of our visit turned what should have been an enjoyable stop into a frustrating experience.
I hope management sees this as constructive feedback. The food and drink recommendations were good, but attentive service and better communication are just as important, especially during busy times. Unfortunately, this visit left us disappointed.
