This park has an amazing waterfall that is an easy walk from the parking lot. I've been here a few times in multiple seasons and it is always amazing.

Definitely a beautiful place to visit in Early Oct.The main building was circular and had beautiful imagery and information all along the walls. Once you step out, make sure to put on your hiking boots or some comfy shoes cause there is a lot of walking! There are several different waterfalls you can visit, as well as a couple overlooks. Both were beautiful at this time of the year, but you will definitely walk a couple miles to visit a couple of the closest attractions - worth it.Restrooms: I don't remember much about the restrooms, but did use them, so that must have meant they were adequate. I know the on-site ones had running water, and the off-site ones I believe were just structures built over large holes.Dog-friendliness: Saw tons of people with dogs walking around. All the dogs that I saw were on leash and mostly behaving.Picnic area: There are a couple picnic tables around the main area, and I believe we saw a couple secluded picnic areas. All looked mostly clean / kept up for being outdoor picnic areas.

Such a beautiful state park. They have a very nice building by the parking lots with bathrooms and a cute gift shop. The hike is very easy and relatively short to the main high falls, and it's paved so it's accessible. The falls are always beautiful. Every time I visit the north shore, I make sure I visit the high falls.

Starting from the visitor's center (where there's free parking) take short hike on a paved path to the High Falls on the Pigeon River. Enjoy a spectacular view from one of three viewing platforms! Wave to any friends who may be enjoying the falls from across the river on the Canadian side.

There is plenty of parking in the lot where you can see the Canadian border crossing. The path to the middle falls has a boardwalk or sidewalk the entire way (a few fairly steep hills or draws noticed pushing a wheelchair - borrowed from the visitor center) Gorgeous grounds with wonderful waterfalls that I recommend.Restrooms: Clean restrooms close to parking lot in visitor center.Dog-friendliness: Many dogs on the path to the falls.

Really nice paved trails. Very Easy to walk around. The inside building is also nice. Worth a stop.

Grand Portage is your last until the border or your first stop crossing into the USA. In fact at the terminus of the hike to the falls you can look across the water and see our Canadian friends taking in the same scenery from their vantage point across the river.

The falls are amazing! You can hear the rush of the water long before you reach them. The trails are well taken care of and easy to follow. The outlook locations are wonderful, providing a great way to view the falls. And yes, you can see Canada from there!Restrooms: Great facilities, multiple locations in the visitor center.Dog-friendliness: Dogs galorePicnic area: Plenty of places to sit and eat lunch

The hike out to the high falls is usually one of the biggest reasons to visit. The trail is paved, but there is some climbing on the trail. There are railing to help those who need them. There are three viewing locations; two of them involve climbing stairs. The trail is supposed to be a mile round trip, but it seemed longer to me.
I also enjoyed the murals in the visitor center. For those who want to picnic, there is a large picnic shelter near the visitor center.

A wonderful state park. Very clean and well maintained. The main paved path is very easy, even for someone that may have difficulty walking. It's rewarding at the falls. It's early July and in the morning, it was in the high-60s with a slight chilly breeze. During the afternoon, it warmed up. Dress accordingly.Bug repellent is definitely needed in the summer or at least carry it because there is a good amount of mosquitoes and other bugs.Overall, a very well maintained state park. Would highly recommend.

Minnesota's highest falls and to me one of the best scenic view one. We first stop by at the visitor center to gather information and use the bathroom. The bathrooms were pretty clean. At the office, Brad informed us well about the hike and gave us lots of good tips. He also suggested other things to see around the area. Thank you for that. We hiked about 1.5 miles easy, paved trail to get to the falls. On our way, we went down a few steps to see the lower part of it. It was mesmerizing. We went early in the morning, so we enjoyed the view alone, and it was peaceful. Also, seeing Canada side up this close was cool. We didn't continue hiking to upper falls since Brad informed us about the condition of the trail. It rained pretty hard the night before, so we didn't wanna take the risk. Maybe next time. Don't forget to use insect repellent ( regular spray won't work, so you would need %100 max deet insect repellent)

This was our first stop on our North Shore adventure, and we happened to mention that to the park staff who provided info on area hikes and must see stops, they were very helpful! They have a large heritage center which we enjoyed. The hike to the falls was paved and perfect for the kiddos. Unlike some of the other waterfall hikes on our trip, this was one of the "safest" for our 3 year old. The kiddos also loved the selfie station. Great picnic area as well!
