Getting up early for a pre-work trip to Als is one of my favorite and simple pleasures. The hashbrowns with cheese infiltrate my dreams.

A unique experience. I confess I am not a fan of crowds, crowded places or lines, so this place was a stretch for me, but glad I went. The staff are great, Al is nice character, a bit opinionated, but welcoming. Fast service, good value. I'd give it 4 stars, but they have some quirky policies. They want everyone to pack into the very narrow isle, which is right behind the people seated at the counter eating. They pack us in like sardines, it's a bit claustrophobic and feels unsafe. When someone gets up to leave they have to squeeze by the people packed in the isle. Based on what the staff person told me was they want to keep the line outside to a minimum, but I would rather wait outside in the fresh air and have room to move and a bit of personal space. I probably will not go back, not my kind of place, but nice people, solid food and value.Parking: Parking is a challenge. Very limited in this part of town and no parking lot on site.Wheelchair accessibility: Are you kidding, no way are you getting a wheelchair into this place.

Such a cute atmosphere, wonderful food! The whole experience of waiting in line was really fun and everyone was so patient!Kid-friendliness: There aren't high chairs or a kids menu but there were kids around and they seemed to enjoy themselves!Wheelchair accessibility: This isn't accessible at all - you have to stand in a single file line before sitting and then sit in backless stools

Been here several times already, and safe to say this is my favorite place for breakfast in the Twin Cities and the best restaurant that's earned the James Beard award imo by far. My favorites are both the flap jacks and waffles, the hash browns, and the eggs; all made fresh to order! Love coming here each time for breakfast trying something new, or to get a usual. Service is always top notch. Very social atmosphere, and the staff is always happy to refill drinks, and help answer questions if you have any. Note that they use cash, and try to get here as soon as they open. Lines do occur, so plan accordingly if you need to wait.Parking: There are paid street parking spaces, and some free spaces to park in The Marshall Ramp, and the Identity Appts alleyway.

First time here, from ND. Met an awesome father and son who are regulars and they gave me the history of the diner. I didn't get pics of the food but it was great. I had the Jose and a short stack, my girlfriend had the eggs Benedict. It's a small spot with 16 seats and I enjoyed the atmosphere. Definitely will frequent the spot when visiting the cities.
