This is for Afro hair.I asked them to make hair color correction appointment, I have waited for 1 week when I got their. The lady was shocked to see my hair, because it was Afro. The whole time she was looking at my Afro hair, she was making eye contact with the other lady that was sitting next to me. After few minutes of staring my hair, and touching, She called teachers, they recommended another appointment that starts at 9:00 am to have more time to correct the color not 12:30pm. One of the teachers was talking to her privately. After they done talking, I walked with the person who supposed to do my hair, and I walked with her to appointment desk. She was like please got graduate level person, and she spoke with the cashier, she said to the cashier, “ she has long hair, and thick ( Afro) and we don’t have the time. Let’s reschedule to another day in the morning”. I was in shocked. The cashier could not find me appointment, and she literally suggested that I should go to professional salons, these are just students. I walked out crying and humiliated. This is the reason I don’t go to majored white women salons. They Will literally make you feel uncomfortable with how god made you… if you are African women, don’t go. They don’t know how to handle our hair and my hair type is curly 3C-.The appointment person, supposed clear for me thick ( Afro) and long hair need longer hours, graduate level student before I came in for appointment.

They custom-mixed a color for me! I wanted a very bluish-violet haircolor, similar to my previous home done version. It's GORGEOUS!?

this place is horrible i am a student there and i have been misgendered countless times, the instructors don’t care about anything the students are going through they only care about money! the hours are long and tiring(10 hours a day) and yet everyday our instructors are yelling at us for just sitting down. they yell at us when we are sanitizing our tools, they tell us that we shouldn’t take the 10 mins to sanitize( state required time to sanitize) not to mention the sanitation room is absolutely disgusting!! they are constantly over booking us and then expect students are just to go along with it and take as many people as they need us too. our hours are cut off at 10 hours so if we have to stay late the students don’t get compensated for that. I haven’t even started on the discrimination at aveda. aveda does not have any products that are geared towards coily hair or people of color, their makeup line only have 7 shades; most of them being super light shades. i do not recommend being a student there or being a customer there.

My stylist, Gavin did an amazing job, the instructors were great at not telling them what to do rather asking what they think they should do. Amazing pricing and the support of the fellow students with each other made for an awesome experience.

It was a great experience to get a perm by the two lovely ladies who did it, Helenka B. and Madisan B. were great. Their instructors Todd and Dillan were awesome too, as they let them do the work, but gave them tips and helped when needed. The front desk was very nice too. I will definitely come back for other services.

A friend and I both got a 30 minute facial at the aveda institute. We both enjoyed it. The price was very low, only $25. The staff is very friendly. The only down side is the rooms were a little tight where the services are provided and the facial runs longer than the scheduled time. As a heads up, don’t have any scheduled plans after the appointments. My facial ended up being 45 minutes and my friends was 1 hour even though they were only supposed to be 30 minutes long. I would definitely recommend aveda and would go back again.

I’ve had pretty good experience here until today. I felt confident to have my 17yo go in and get her hair done without my hovering. She left there with hair color down her neck, all over the sides of her face, in her ear. The student told her to bleach the underneath of her hair before they colored it next time. Um, that’s what I was paying YOU to do. That was communicated to her at the beginning of the appt. Not the best experience.

I went to be a model for a relaxer and it completely damaged my hair. I am devastated to say the least. My hair was past my shoulders and now I have to get a really short cut because the majority of my hair was damaged. And they suggested I purchase their line of damage repair products at $100+ in my opinion they should have just given it to me to fix the damage they caused but nothing but a crappy cut was given. This is so upsetting
