I used to love the Blaisdell Y but I’m afraid it’s not what I remember. My partner and I signed up for a trail membership online and no one ever reached back out to us - the confirmation email stated they would call us (we gave them over a week). So we went in to the building to talk with someone in person. Sultan, the membership team member we spoke to, took us on a tour and when it came to sign up for the trial pass told us we couldn’t sign up without a MN state ID (which we later found out isn’t true), and honestly didn’t really seem to care or that helpful. Both my partner and I brought in our passport which is a valid form of ID. So when we left after getting denied, we called the general YMCA membership line and was told that a passport should have been accepted as a valid form of ID and didn’t quite understand why it wasn’t accepted. My partner and I called the Blaisdell Y to let them know a passport should have been accepted and we should have been able to sign up for the membership. However, no one answered and so we left a voicemail and, of course, no one has yet to return our call. We ended up going to the Midway YMCA and we were very pleased with the customer service there and we’re able to sign up for a trail pass with our passports. The staff who helped us, Alex, was very friendly and let us know about current enrollment promotions and let us know he’ll be following up with us before our trail ends to see if we want to enroll at the Midway Y! :)

I used to really enjoy this location, but since covid they've adopted a policy that empty studios have to be locked when an instructor isn't actively teaching in them, so they can't be used to do yoga or stretch like every other Y in the metro area. I'm sure this is because the staff make zero effort to check the behavior of loud and obnoxious unaccompanied teens running rampant in every other common area. The locker room decibel level alone is enough to make me reconsider my membership and switch to an adult gym so I don't have to listen to them shout every kind of slur in the book back and forth at each other.

This place doesn't treat their employees well and the pool is always closed. I wanna swim. Someone named Sultan overcharged me. I don't appreciate that. Also there's never any parking. 1 star, would not recommend

Happily impressed with the Blaisdell YMCA. I love the Wednesday evening cycle classes with Lana - I definitely feel part of the community when coming here! The facilities are in good shape.

Get ready for $76 a month to experience unattended children, cramped locker rooms, and equipment that always seems to have a problem. The staff is nice but this place needs HELP.

I love that they have an actual running track. Staff is friendly, facility is fairly nice. My complaint is that the pool hours are (A) too short, particularly on weekends and (B) annoyingly unreliable. Week to week the hours are pretty much never the same, and I find it difficult to find the schedule on the website. Which is yet another problem. Seems like that should kind've be front and center.

I attempted to put my five year old son into the Summer Power program. We had a terrible experience at the first day drop off. The staff was incompetent, to the point where I couldn't leave him in their care safely. Repeated attempts to discuss what happened were ignored, and my money went down the drain. This is not a safe place to leave your young child. I was so disappointed.

This Y is close to home and convenient. The staff have been very friendly and are on their Ps and Qs when it comes to making sure you sign in! The facility is older but well maintained. They host a variety of group fitness classes and have treadmills, ellipticals, and weights upstairs. The summer program and kids stuff is super convenient.
