Very run down, best location but worst dorm on campus. Don't be fooled everything works for the first week but after anything from the vacuums to washers and dryers quality drops as they don't do enough maintenance. every part of the walls are painted with at least 4 layers, chipped and peeling. dorm rooms just look gross and are clearly not cleaned when moving in. Washers and specifically dryers frequently don't work and don't have signs saying they're broken it's a hit or miss each time. Dining hall is absolutely disgusting, food is frequently cold and soggy, an incredibly small amount of options even for someone with no diet restrictions. From what I hear they will be changing suppliers the dining hall next year but, if you're going to go to school here next year why even risk it, apply for any other dorm unless the location is that important to you. Disappointed in the quality of the dorm and amenities they are supposed provided, find a different dorm.

Great Location! I was in a single and had no complaints about the room. There were a few cons to living here, such as the the poor cleanliness of some of the bathrooms and the dining hall food, which pales in comparison to other dining halls (17th ave or pioneer dining hall)

It is an older dorm on the University of Minnesota campus, but I have heard that it isn't the worst. If you are looking into living at this dorm, I'll give you what I have learned, heard, or experienced. To start, the dining hall. I have heard it is tied for worst with Bailey Hall. If you are looking for good food, you will not find it here. The workers are nice and I think one of the workers make the pizza herself, but the actual food is pretty average. The drink dispensers have been broken since the first month of this school year, but you can always get water! Next, the location, it is close to everything in Minneapolis. Now onto the inside of the dorm... it is a little run down. I live in a single, but I have seen inside a double and triple. I share a small sink room with another person, this room is run down and old. My main issue isn't how new it is, but the sink faucet is so low down that it makes it difficult for daily uses. My room, I have been told, is small compared to other dorms. I have the loveliest view and my AC works, so I can't really complain about my dorm that much. Be warned that sometimes the old hardware is finicky. For example, my closet door has never been able to close and stay shut, my AC dial is hard to get the temperature comfortable. The final thing that I want to touch on is the bathrooms. They are pretty average, they are fairly clean on my floor. The showers are a different story. There is one that doesn't have a hook or a place to keep you clothes dry, so no one uses it. Though I have heard that in other dorms the drains are always clog with hair, which is not an issue at Comstock. I really can't hate the dorm that much, sure it isn't as fancy as Pioneer or some of the other dorms, but it is cozy and works for the one year that I am staying in a dorm.

The location is great, it's the heart of the university. But dining hall is very bad!

Living here was the WORST housing experience of my life. Not all of the rooms were redone, so ours had peeling wood, chipped paint, and drawers that were hard to move. The showers here frequently had mold, the building is out-of-date, and it is the WORST dining hall on campus! The plates and silverware were so gross, the food was cold and flavorless, and I ended up basically living off of cereal I bought from the store myself. If you can, avoid living here!!!

Food was awful all year long. My chances of diabetes, cancer, and heart disease probably all increased as a result.
