I went to pick up my car and was told I was being “upgraded” to a “premium” vehicle. This “premium” vehicle did not have any premium features (basic vehicle, no heated seats or steering wheel, no auto start, etc). On top of that Elliot’s “upgrade” was an extra $60/day that was never discussed with me, had it been I would have declined the service. Thrifty’s deceitful practice is unacceptable. The quote I got for the same car from the website was $40/day and I was charged nearly $100/day.Also you can’t call Thrifty and speak to an actual person, I highly doubt I will get a response from their online form.I’ll never rent from Thrifty, Dollar, or Hertz again.Edit 4/2/24 - no one from the store or corportate has contacted me. I called them and found out I was "upgraded" because the car I rented was not available, so Elliot decided to charge me $200 more to give me a car I didn't want or reserve. Once again, I was lied to. Customer service has been EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL. I am so dissapointed in Thrify's business practices. I'm NEVER renting from them again.

Shop will not answer the phone, and getting to Hertz customer service is impossible. They dinged me with extra fees and after several hours with customer service (respectfully and patiently) I was hung up on. All I wanted was an email showing that I talked with customer service. I'll never use them again and I don't recommend them to anyone. Their teleprompter will cycle you through 30,000 prompts hoping that you won't actually talk to one of their outsourced horrible customer service representatives. Now my whole family is going to have to wait while I fight Hertz at the airport, use another service. If they answered the phone 1 of the last 4 days I called (Tuesday-Saturday) during regular business hours this all could've been avoided.

Go elsewhere. Anywhere else.I showed up for a reservation. Have their top reward level. Get told at the "gold-level counter" that they can't find the res and it's "clearly" my fault for not booking the car through my gold login. (false.) Three employees doing nothing. They refuse even to look at my account or confirmation number.Go to the regular counter. Only one staff person, overwhelmed by a long line. Wait 45 minutes (again - with a pre-arranged reservation and the "right" through rewards status not even to stop at the office).I made my reservation directly through Hertz, using a virtual card issued by a Hertz partner. But they need a physical card to fulfill the reservation - despite the fact that they're willing to accept a reservation with a virtual card. Tell them they accepted the virtual card, that's not my fault they can't match it up. How do they resolve it?By canceling my whole reservation and creating a new one - with a price of course $250 higher! Argue against that for ages, finally gets sorted out - then get told they forgot to issue my insurance. So the whole reservation has to be made and processed and altered for the new price - again.By the time I got out with a car, it was 3.5 hours, maybe 3 hours 15 minutes. With their top "elite" rewards status.Run away.

Make sure you read your contract very close. They have an employee who intentionally rips you off. It’s been reported to their Human Resources by their own associates and this behavior is apparently acceptable to them.

When picking up our rental counter person kept insisting we needed to upgrade from our reservation. First suggested upgrade was an additional $250, second suggestion was an additional $175. Declined both and then was told our reserved car would have a 30+ minute wait. That was not true..just was trying to get us to accept that upcharge. Also, the 21.25% added tax along with 2 additional "charges" brought our reserved price from $204 for 4 days to $308. ? Never again Hertz..

Well that Seinfeld episode about reserving a car happened to me... my reservation was not available and was offered an upgrade with an extra 25 dollars a day.. it does not end here folks wait.. once I got in my rental car I could not locate the key as the attending was about to leave for the day.. we searched for the key for 35 minutes without any success. So did the attendant searched for another 30 minutes and gave up; so they put me in another upgrade but this time no extra extra charge.. I drove out of the garage and noticed that the tire pressure was low - so stopped at a garage to add more air to the tire - I spent the entire 3 days of rental adding air to the tire.. finally I returned the car with a full tank of gas only to be charged another $21.45 topping charge. NEVER AGAIN will I ever rent from Hertz or any company associated with Hertz.

Very long waits. Only 1 person at the desk. The car had a check engine light on since the moment I got the vehicle. I filled the car up right before I returned it, even going past the click as the gas station was 9 miles from the airport so I made sure I filled it up even a bit past the full mark, and they still charged me $32 in gas fees. Horrible customer service all around.

Long wait pitiful; 6 families in front of me; 6 families behind me in line at hertz. Hertz gold is not like it used to be at least at this location… apparently pick up car in terminal 1 not 2 and you’ll be better off….

Manager will give you attitude and refuse to help you. Told us we had to change reservation through a 1800 number (their database showed an expired driver's license but we were still rented a car?) and then refused to talk to agent when the agent asked to speak with him. Then, when our issue was seemingly resolved, wouldn't give us proper paperwork to leave lot. It was as if everyone was working for the first time AND were paid to tell you completely irrelevant answers to any of your questions. Once given a car, we were told to turn around because membership expired and agent at 1800 number had actually deleted reservation. This is a nightmare location.

I rented at the Memphis airport location. I was annoyed because the Gold Club Members area was empty with 2 employees at the counter. The line for nonmembers has 10 people a head of me with 5 behind me. Only 1 person at the counter. The staff were nice just very short staffed. The wait on a car was 10-20 min. The return was quick because you didn't have to wait on anyone, leave keys in car, take pics and go.

Use fear to get you to buy into their “loss damage wavier” terrible agent we had. Car wasn’t full when we left. Exit agent fixed that. The nicest person there that night. Actually helpful

Wow, just wow. Worst experience ever. I made a reservation months in advance. Hertz sent me an email to check-in online before my flight, which I tried to do, but the process would not complete. So, we land at 430, make it to the hertz counter by 455 and the line is super long and THEY ONLY HAVE 1 PERSON WORKING! He was very nice and patient. I noticed a different hertz sign pointing a different way, so my wife stood in line while I checked it out. Followed the signs to the in garage checkout counter, there was nobody in line here. I asked the "lady" behind the counter and she said she couldn't help me because it's for gold members only. I said there's nobody here and the other line is eternity long. TOO Bad. Then I said, well I'll just sign up to be a gold member then, and she said first time gold members have to go to the main counter. So we waited in line until shift change at 6 pm, then the nice employee escorted the entire line up to the Gold member only booth! The lady there promptly got up and left, leaving only one employee left to service everyone. We waited for another 30 minutes, only to find out after checkout that none of the cars are at this location, they'll have to have someone from another location drive them over for all 20+ reservations that have already been waiting for almost 2 hours! The 3rd employee who ended up checking in most of the line, was super rude to everyone, forcing those who already paid to wait outside in the heat, including a 79 year old man with cancer. As I'm writing this the whole line had now checked out and paid, but we are still waiting for our cars! Over 2 hours now. Never again hertz! So much for our dinner plans.

Negative 8 stars! F*ck all of the incompetent employees that ruined our family trip today! We reserved a van that wasn't ready! Employees came in late and did not see customers until almost 7, when they were supposed to be open at 6.am. We were told that we had to pay 2k after we had already paid $500 for the rental. Please do not rent from here, unless you like being given the runaround...or if you like to be talked to like a child...or if you like to be sent back and forth between the 1st and 4th floor. Got a great workout though! F*ck Hertz! F*ck Tom Brady for doing those commercials!
