Very bad customer service from the receptionist that told me his name was Walter. I was trying to get in contact with my tax preparer Caroline. He she was not in that office today, so I asked if he could see if she was in another office, he did not want do any searching n told me to download an app lol. I then asked if anyone would be able to email me my taxes he said no but then told me the manager is able but there not in either. Sounded like he hates his job and did not want to be there. I then called a different location totally different experience with that receptionist and got what I needed. Trash customer service at that branch just trash.

The accountant has been ignoring my messages for the last few months. This is a very bad customer experience, I needed to submit this review and send a complaint to H&R directly, just to get a response from a different person.
It's pretty fun to go back through the 1star reviews and read through the comments.

VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH MY RECENT EXPERIENCE SIGNING UP FOR TAX IDENTITY SHIELD by H&R BLOCK with my TAX ADVISOR. NO ONE AT TAX IDENTITY SHIELD ANSWERS THE PHONE OR RESPONDS TO EMAILS. SCREEN FREEZES AT THE INTERNET SIGN-IN PAGE. My H&R BLOCK TAX ADVISOR, on the other hand is a lovely person, explaining details as she worked. Very informative!

We made an appointment online early in the week for Saturday at noon. Arrived early and the administrative assistant was a broken record with the same response; "Ya'll don't know how to answer the phone."Okay?Apparently there was a cancelation and we were lucky to be placed with a tax preparation expert. Thanks? We sit for an hour taking turns correcting and helping said expert along with which box is for citizen and explaining routing numbers. Satisfied that everything is 100% correct after a check by a supervisor we're informed that we owe a substantial amount and need to pay immediately for the services. We've grown accustomed to eating dinner every evening and begin to panic at the thought of being indebted to the IRS and the powers that be at H&R Block. We left with the heavy guilt provoking stares on our backs from the tax swami posse as we waved goodbye to our 6-12 months of future plans. There's a beginning and end to all things much like our story at the H&R Block at 830 2nd Ave.But what everyone sticks around for is the twist that changes the course of a bleak situation, that new found light at the end of the tunnel. This problem solving solution goes by the name of TurboTax a hero without a cape capable of doing math and providing miracles in the form of a drop down box.In 33 minutes our dreams and aspirations were again achievable and approved by the Federal and State higher powers at the time of this reviews posting.

When I tell you I have never met a more incompetent person in my life than Mary Farmer at this branch, that is an understatement. My husband and I dropped our tax documents off at this office with Mary one and a half months before tax day was due and she never filed them. We called; we emailed; we showed up in person to figure out the status of our filing only to find out one day before the deadline that she was in her words "overwhelmed" and her manager had taken clients away from her, including us, and farmed us out to some fulfillment center without informing us - as she apparently was supposed to do. They couldn't tell us who was now handling our filing or where they were or how to reach them; just that they would not be filed on time. Now, after no word from anyone from a fulfillment center for weeks now, my husband and I are trying to get help from HR Block customer service and not a single person there can tell us the status of our taxes; it's a ridiculous game of hot potato. Never again in my life will I ever file with HR Block again and I'd have to experience a permanent brain injury that completely wiped my memory before I ever set foot in this location again. Please, please give yourself the gift of never working with Mary Farmer or this office and find literally anyone else to do your taxes.

It's been more than a month since I left my documents with Mary, but no one can tell me the status of my filing and despite repeated phone calls, messages, voice mails and assurances that she will contact me, she never has. Least professional person and operation. Don't be like me - listen to the other reviews and stay away.

We decided to try and save money this year on using an accountant and tried the H&R Block at 420 E Lake St in Mpls. We were so disappointed!! They had my name wrong, we never received notice our taxes were done (even though he promised he would email us) and when we went in to inquire they didn't even remember our name and spent at least 3 trips back and forth from the printer reprinting our forms. There was no transparency about pricing upfront, poor communication and the cost was the same as our previous accountant from a more reputable firm. My advice would be that if you do use this location, triple check all of your documents and make sure you tell them you need communication about pricing and completion of your taxes. We will not be going back to H&R Block at all.

A one star rating is more than this dump deserves. In 2021 my tax agent screwed up my initial filing, leaving $1400 that I was due. She filed an amended return, or so she says, and yet here we are in 2023 and I still have not received that $1400. In 2022 I was forced to pay the IRS over $600 because H&R Block screwed up my 2017 filing. Now here we are, in 2023. I was told my federal return would be $3800, which is usually what I get. I don't know what my tax agent did to mess up this time, but the IRS adjusted my refund down to $950, the lowest amount I have ever received. Then H&R Block took out their fee, so whereas I was expecting $3800 I only received $550. I have literally been calling and leaving messages for weeks now, all of which have been ignored. DO NOT trust this office or the simpletons who work there with your taxes. You might as well hire a neighborhood kid to do your taxes for you, you'd have a better job of the kid getting things right.
